Hoo Kee Rice Dumpling, the legendary great dumplings from Amoy Street Food Centre . My colleague is one of their fans and started taking mass order through telephone with them. As he carried the bags and bags of dumplings into the pantry, the whole office smell of "Ba Zhang" (Rice Dumplings) till that it was hard that anyone would popped by and asked me what's the smell as I'm sitting near the pantry. It's aroma had already lured us into the pantry making some of us unbearable till the extent that we unwrapped the leaves and bite them immediately. The glutinous rice was soft, moist and filled of flavours.Yellow Raffia String symbolizes chestnut with salted egg Yolk, costs $3.30 while the red raffia string is the original flavour (just chestnut) that costs $2.50Read More

i like it with the sweet chilli sauce provided. Size of Bah Zhang is a little small though but the tasty ingredients make up for it. Definitely go for the salted egg york version. And do call before going down to avoid disappointment. Ah Peng only has a small steamer that prepares maybe 30 dumplings a go ... i think. It does not matter whether you eat on the spot while its hot or you packet back, tried and verified :)Read More

You definitely need to be here early to be assured of a dumpling since it sells quite fast. I got 5 of the salted egg dumpling home and made it hot the next day for lunch. The salted egg yolk is large and lovely. Although it is high in cholesterol, I couldn’t help but to finish all of the salted egg yolk. The mushrooms in the dumpling are also juicy and full of flavour. the meat is both fatty and lean which helps to moisten the dumpling and the meat such that it is not to dry. It is really delicious. Now I know why it sells so fast, because it is one of the best that I had, definitely beating all the other dumpling chain stores.Read More

no doubt the best dumplings in singapore. they serve 3 types , the chesnut , mush room with chestnus , and salted egg one. both 3 taste great, size is a bit smaller than usual but each bite is chockful of flavour. the meat is very lean which i like. its about $3 a pop . be there very early or order in advance as it is usually sold out by lunch timeRead More

I love dumpling festivals! The dumplings sold at Hoo Kee Rice Dumping are fantastic! I especially like their nonya dumling as the filling is very gernerous! Its almost like every bite of the dumpling is saturated with the aroma from the fillings. Super yummy! They are also served pipping hot, great for a cold weather!Read More

I grew up eating rice dumplings from Hoo Kee and they have kept the standard well for many many years now. You have to order in advance as it sells out very quickly. Having tasted rice dumplings from many places, this Bak Chang is STILL THE BEST. The meat is marinated well and the salted egg adds flavour of the dumpling. I usually take a pair of dumpling and dip it in the chilli sauce that comes with it for lunch or dinner! Read More

Dr Leslie Tay from ieatishootipost.sg advised readers to reserve Hoo Kee Rice dumplings in advance, and I can certainly see why they're snatched up so quickly.Scruntizing the inside of my salted egg, meat and mushroom dumpling, I was greeted by a large, golden yolk orb, encased in seemingly fat-free pork and surrounded by a couple of crumbly chestnuts. Greedily, I forked up the moist and tasty but delightfully non-greasy rice grains. Lovely. Unlike many other dumplings out there, Hoo Kee's meat filling was gloriously lean and contained no off-putting fatty bits. Kudos to the uncle for preparing the salted egg and chestnuts so perfectly as well- soft, crumbly but definitely far from dry, they obediently yielded to my fork.I asked if there were any more of these dumplings after I finished mine. Luck must have been on my side, for my wish was granted. I was handed the remaining four dumplings in a double-bag, which I even knotted up. But I was still left savoring their drool-inducing fragrance on the way home!Read More

This is a very popular stall in this food centre selling the traditional style rice dumpling. And, their business is extremely good and if you do not call to reserve then you might ended disappointed. I was lucky when i dropped by on a Saturday morning when they just opened for business. I wanted to buy 4 rice dumplings with salted egg but was told all were reserved and they can only spared 2 normal rice dumplings if i am interested. I bought it anyway. The service standard here was a little laid back. I stood in front of the stall for at least 5 mins and asked twice before someone answered me. Their rice dumplings are one of the nicer in Singapore. The meat, mushroom and chinese chestnuts were well marinated together with the well cooked glutinous rice. No doubt, their dumplings are good. But, would you endure bad attitude for good rice dumplings?Read More
