As it is still morning, there is not much choices available for breakfast at the mall. We decid on this place after walking around. The place is packed, but the turnover is fast. Here one orders and pays at the counter. Remember to collect your food at the counter when your tracker rings.I have the Mee Rebus set which costs $5 and comes with a glass of barley. You can have the barley in a choice of hot or cold. Served in a rather big bowl, the Mee Rebus looks quite huge in serving. It tastes not being quite thick and well flavoured.Hui Choo has the Mee Siam set which also costs $5 and comes with a glass of barley. It tastes a hint of tangy and not too spicy.Overall the food is not bad. But the place is a bit hot, as it seems that there is no air con in the mall in the morning.Read More

We went to the library at NEX the whole day, and literally have our brunch and afternoon tea at the same place - Toastbox! Not for conveniency but more for the simple yummy food.Otah Toast set ($4.90) consists of coffee/tea of your choice, two half-boiled eggs, and otah thick toast. The Otah thick toast is quite mild in taste, perhaps the otak layer is not thick enough, though the flavour is good. Mee Siam set ($5) consists of a bowl of mee siam and drink of choice (coffee/tea/barley). The mee siam is very tasty and appetizing. The sourness of the sauce is just right, very well-absorbed by the bee hoon noodles! Kaya and Butter Toast is simple but satisfying. Crispy outside as the toast is slight grilled after spreading a thin layer of butter on it. The kaya has a hint of pandan fragrant and smooth in texture. We also tried the Mee Rebus set ($5). The mee rebus is not quite my favourite, nothing wrong but nothing special either. The star of the meal has to be Laksa (Laksa + Barley set costs $6.10)! The Laksa gravy is so rich, with lots of dried shrimps and herbs and spices! I finished all the soup, sinfully good. Kaya Cake ($1.40) is not a bad choice to end the meal. The sponge cake has a good texture, and the aromatic kaya gives a good flavour to it. Read More

This piece of toast is served with a generous sprinkle of chicken floss on top of the toast. Though it taste a little sweet to me, it is still worth trying as the bread taste quite fluffy and the butter that is spread on top of the toast taste really fragrant and fresh. This bread floss bread will appeal to those looking for a fresh new toast. Additionally, this toast is quite filling and can actually be eaten as a meal coupled with a cup of tea Read More

It was almost closing time when we got to this oulet of ToastBox at Nex, but the crowd was not getting any smaller.A craving for Fat Noodle Laksa had brought us here.Yes, the Laksa at ToastBox is made using the short and fat worm-like noodle and is calledLaksa Mee Tai Mak. This type of noodle is not commonly found nowadays and it often reminds me of macaroni. Another interesting point to note is that all you need to eat this laksa is a huge soup spoon. There is no real need for a fork or chopsticks either. The noodle goes very well with the gravy - a perfect combination :)The gravy was thick and spicy...Mmmm The laksa had a generous amount of fishcake, taupok and prawns in it.Though it was close to closing time, there was no rush in the preparation and the laksa tasted as good as the first bowl would have. The tiny crushed curry leaves added to the taste. as well. The Fat Noodle Lasa will always remain on my must-have list at Toast Box.Read More

hmmm, can't compare to my favourite killiney kopitiam.the toast here is rather pale and the butter is a thick slab of unmelted butter, like cheese! not good! the kaya is alright. but with such a thick slab of unmelted butter, you can't taste the kaya. the service is pretty slow and you almost think they forgot your order. the coffee is small and a bit too over steamed. not really recommended. another good to look at place but not really good for quality of food. good presentation only.Read More

Toast box's toast is really nice.I like to eat it.It is thick and soft. The soft bread plus the thick peanut is really nice. But the peanut is abit sticky,it will stick on my teeth. This dish is also not bad, just it is quite heavy to serve as a breakfast.I really admire my friend, how can he finish this as breakfast..??Read More

Dropped by this outlet close to closing time, but it was NOT closing time yet.Despite this, a staff member was busy cleaning the glass panels with soapy water while drinks and food were being prepared right next to her. That didn't seem to be very hygienic, though. Except for that glitch, the laksa tasted okay. This variation, with the fat, stubby, chubby noodles, is an interesting change. I didn't really feel like drinking the Ice Lemon Tea, after watching the staff cleaning and preparing at the same time.Overall. the laksa was okay, with lots of Dried tofu, fish cake and prawns. It is a good variation from the traditional laksa.Read More

On the second day of chinese new year, my hubby and I stopped by Toast Box before continuing our visiting. As most other outlets are not open, we decided to have out lunch at Toast Box. I ordered the curry chicken set, which comes with a barley drink, for a cost of $5.95. The service is quite bad in my opinion. The waitress just placed the curry chicken set on another table beside us instead of putting it on our table. Moreover, during ordering, they also had a black face on. Anyway, perhaps its due to cny, I only got 2 chicken wings in my curry instead of 3 of them. That aside, the curry is really nice, thick and a little spicy. I had no problems finishing all my rice because the curry is so tasty. The barley drink serving is also generous and it is not too sweet also. A perfect way to end off the heaty curry. Only downside is the not too good service and lesser serving for the curry.Read More

Super in love with their french toast. Cut in small bite sizes. It's a little bit on the oily side though. Plus a huge slice of butter on top is uber fattening! But this is fantastic! Thick white bread dipped with egg and fried till golden yellow. Crispy sides, melting butter, savour them all!Read More

Dining alone, I hardly chose foodcourt, because I don’t like to carry my food and standing for my seat. Anyway, if there are options on other casual dining, I would choose it. First of all, I was attracted by Toastbox decoration theme, mostly white. They serve few types of cooked food only. I chose curry chicken with rice and hot homemade barley. The price was really economical at a comfortable seating. The friendly casher took my order and asked me to have my seat, they would bring the food to my table. Curry taste very local to me of which I like it. It has 3 mid joint chicken wings with potato and a bowl of rice. The barley drink was big too. I saw other diners brought their empty bowl and asked for 2nd serving curry sauce, they served without hesitation. For such price with quality of food plus comfortably seating, it worth every cent ones spends. Read More

I'm someone who usually have something light for breakfast. As I was out real early one morning, I decided to go for the french toast set at Toast Box. I must said that the set was rather pricey. For a piece of toast and a cup of tea, the set costs nearly $4! And the auntie wasn't really generous with the kaya and butter. I left after I was done, feeling broke and still hungry.Read More

Toast Box is a café that you'd have to try at least once. They don't sell just toast and coffee but also local dishes like nasi lemak, curry chicken, mee siam, laksa, etc. I extremely love their thick peanut toast as well as pork floss thick toast, accompanied with iced milo. I ordered a curry chicken with white rice the other day. The curry gravy was yummy, neither too spicy nor oily, I practically drank all the curry. Lean chicken parts can also be served upon request.Read More
