Came to explore Gardens by the Bay and decided to have lunch here. Read online that the Hokkien Mee is nice here, so we ordered that and other items. Hokkien Noodle - quite a big portion of noodles on a piece of banana leaf. The taste is slightly better than average. The Chilli that they gave with the noodles is really not worth any mention. Chicken Rice - the meat was nice but not many pieces in total. The rice had a lot of ginger cooked in it and my girl didn't really appreciate it. Signature Nasi Lemak - flavourful rice cooked in coconut and the accompanying fried chicken leg was well-seasoned and fried. Chilli is not bad for this dish. Flavour but no bite. Curry Chicken with Steamed Bread - 4 square slices of traditional bread in a steamer with a bowl of chicken curry. The bread is ordinary and a bit mushy but served in a drama manner only. Heh. Average tasting and not spicy enough. Not likely to come here for more as the food here was expensive and not good enough to worth the buck. Read More

This so called coffee shop maybe the more comfortable and spacious version, which you will be having more comfort here. Many foodstall avaipable here and I have chosen to try the seafood fried rice and the char kway teow here. Fried rice is full of the fragrant from the fresh fried egg and prawns used in it. The added beansprouts also add in the extra crunchiness to this dish. Portion is also wuite generous too. Fried kway teow maybe quite oily but is very tasty. The rice noodles are very smooth and easy to chew. The dark sweet sauce make this dish very appetizing and craving for more. For the price of $7 and $8 per portion for both dishes, are quite expensive. Read More

Hill Street Coffee Shop At the very end of the day, we are not very sure as to whether Hill Street Coffee Shop is the best representation of the local delights that we have here on this tiny red dot. We do understand though, that since it’s located at a tourist attraction, the food tends to be less spicy to cater to the tourists. If you’re one that isn’t a big fan of spicy food and want to finally give some originally spicy local delights a try, this is the place to head to! After dinner, you can easily go have a walk around the absolutely beautiful Gardens by the Bay to burn some calories! As for the local foodies, think it’s best we stick to our no air-con, rowdy and sweaty coffee shops. Cheap and good! By the way, the food here can easily cost you a whopping $7 to $10 bucks for a simple local dish, as mentioned; this is a tourist attraction so you got to be prepared to pay a premium.Visit http://ieatandeat.com/hill-street-coffee-shop/ for the full review!Read More

Shared this big ice kachang ( peanut in malay) with 4 friends 😁😄 actually there is no peanut at all.. What is your fav ice kachang ingredients? 😃 I love the attap seeds and jelly :) It;s the perfect dessert to eat after being in the sun at the outdoor gardens. for $4.50 is isn't really that expensive when you share it among friends. There is enough syrup plus a dollop of ice cream to top it off! Read More

My first time to Gardens By The Bay so cool. We went to the Super Tree and discover hill street coffee shop, I ordered Kampong rendang chicken nasi lemak.Aromatic peranakan style curry was creamy, rich and mild (spiciness) tasting. Soft and tender curry braised chicken thigh falls off easily from the bone. Crunchy achar was sour and appetizing. Fluffy and fragrant coconut rice tasted great with the savory gravy. I used the crispy fish cracker to scoop the curry and rice was surprise how good this combination is. Read More

This retro themed coffee shop, located in the heart of the Gardens by the Bay aims to bring you back to the 1960s Hill Street Coffee Shop with the decor (such as the wooden tables and chairs, coffee cups and saucers) mimicking elements of the past coffee shop. They do serve decent main courses here too. We had their nasi lemak which wasn't too bad. Of course a trip here won't be complete without a cup of hot piping coffee and though slightly pricey (as expected for food from a tourist attraction) the coffee was really potent and had a nice faint smoky aftertaste which I enjoyed.Read More

I visited the Gardens by the Bay quite recently and decided to have lunch at the air conditioned coffeeshop at Supertree Dining. The entire restaurant was very well decorated with wooden stools and ceramic tables, even the menus were printed in the form of newspapers! Although i agree the prices of the food are quite pricey, I enjoyed the ambience of sitting in the restaurant, felt like I was brought back to the olden days. There were also pieces of olden kitchen ware that were displayed on the shelves as part of the decoration. That day, a few of the items on the menu were not available, so I settled for a bowl of laksa. The laksa bowl was in a unique oval shape and it was quite a whole portion of laksa gravy and ingredients. The laksa gravy was very thick with very strong coconut milk flavour. It was not very spicy as the coconut milk overwhelmed the chili paste flavour. There were very huge cockles in the laksa which were fresh and juicy! We also had fried chicken wings which were fried with very strong prawn paste. They were crispy and flavourful but a little bit too oily. Their variety of drinks were similar to that of those in normal coffee shops, from hot coffee to plum juice drink and barley. Again, some of the drinks like barley were unavailable which I was quite disappointed but the plum juice I ordered was not too bad. It was very refreshing! The food took some time to come because it was quite crowded but when it came, it came all at once, so it really satisfied our appetites. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience in the well-created olden coffee shop ambience but it was definitely a little too pricey to have local fare at these prices because they are nothing very special from those you can find at a normal kopitiam. However, I guess it's the uniqueness of the place that continues to draw visitors to dine at the restaurant. :)Read More
