When the word Laksa is being heard, one would think about the famous penang laksa. But actually what does the real penang laksa really taste like? Coming back to laksa, let try out own country famous katong laksa. This bowl of laksa is garnished with the chopped laksa leaves to enhance the taste of the laksa. As for the gravy wise, it is not too oily, fragrance and shiok. As for the beehoon, it is well cooked with a QQ texutre. The other ingredients in this bowl of laksa includes cockles, prawn and bean sprout which are fresh and well cooked as well. Overall, a thumb up for this bowl of katong laksa. continue reading

I always think laksa goes well with otah. That is why i always ended up ordering an otah too whenever i ordered laksa from this stall. I have been wanting to ask the Auntie whether her stall used to be at serangoon garden as she seems so familiar. I remember eating at a certain katong laksa there a few times before it went disappeared. I ordered the smallest bowl of katong laksa for $3 with cockles added. I enjoyed the aromatic laksa taste infused with coconut milk to bring out the flavor. It did not taste as spicy as expected. The thick bee hoon was cooked nicely to the right texture with ingredients like prawns, fishcake and bean sprouts. It tasted enjoyable. continue reading

Bought a bowl of laksa for dinner. Firstly, the gravy has a nice aroma, sufficient seasoning and coconut milk added, not too spicy and not oily. This bowl of laksa includes ingredients like prawn, fish cake, bean sprout, cockles and beehoon. The beehoon is well cooked, soft and spongy texture. The cockles and prawn are very fresh. Laksa leaves are also included to enhance the taste of the laksa. Lastly, the presentation of the laksa is also quite appealing. continue reading

Laksa and Otah have been one of the most perfect combinations. Perhaps that is why most of the stalls selling Katong Laksa decided to sell Otah too. This is one of the 2 stalls selling Katong Laksa in this food centre. I decided to order from this particular one because i spotted a certain degree of familiarity of the Auntie selling it. At that moment, I was not be able to relate where did i meet her before. I wanted to have a chat with her but there were others customers behind me so i decided to go against it.I ordered the $3 portion with a piece of otah. If you are a big eater, you can go for the $4 or even $5 portion. The nicely fragrant and rich coconut based gravy has the right amount of spiciness to give it the robust flavor. You can help yourself with the extra serving of sambal chilli if you like it to be spicier. And, you can help yourself with the laksa leaves too. This bowl of Laksa came with the usual ingredients like the cockles, prawns, slices of fishcake and thick bee hoon. Though this is not the best Katong Laksa that i ever had but it is good enough for a quick flx rather than having to travel all the way to the east to eat it. When i was almost done with the Laksa then i suddenly remembered the auntie of this Katong Laksa stall might be the same auntie that used to own a stall at Serangoon Gardens in one of the coffee shops selling Katong Laksa and Otah. I had eaten there in a few occasions and her stall went missing after the renovation of the coffee shop. I will verify with her when i come here again. continue reading
