I bought original , durian and bandung flavour ,

The durian flavor taste nice and got strong fragnance smell of durian , the bean curd are smooth , and melt in the mouth and not too sweet

And though you left in overnight , the texture still remain the same when you bought it

Located in the same vicinity/hawker centre as Lao Ban, I was surprised that 51 soya bean was still going strong. As Lao Ban soya beancurd was experiencing a long queue, i decided to purchase the original flavoured beancurd from 51 soya bean at $1.50 each. It tasted 90% like lao ban, each has their own strengths. Their beancurd did not have the "powdery-feel" of layer on top (like lao ban's). It was smooth and silky and glided down my throat easily. Verdict: worth a try. Good

Their soyabeancurd is pudding style, quite similar to "Lao Ban Soya Beancurd". The price is about $1.50 - $3. There's original, almond, chocolate, strawberry, and mango flavours available. This time I had the almond one, the almond taste was not strong enough and it was very very sweet,it's quite smooth. But on top there's a layer of thing which looked like it had been left overnight, doesn't seem fresh to me. Still prefer Lao Ban Soya Beancurd to this.

Another pudding-like beancurd joining the beancurd war in this century at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre, now both brand competition everywhere...The beancurd looks so ordinary, plain almost the same as 老伴豆花, but taste different...The taste not too sweet and seemed less creamyBut if you want a single satisfying experience, I would still suggest 老伴豆花...cause I'm flavor to 老伴豆花!! haha!!

Big question: which is better? I think that's a wrong question to ask. It depends on what you like (yes I am a genius). 51 Soya Beancurd is less silky but has a better soya feeling overall without being overly sweet. Lao Ban seems to be resting on its laurels with lesser quantity and can be rather inconsistent depending on which outlet you visit. The original ones may not necessarily be the best (same for 51 Soya Beancurd).

The FoodMy first time trying 51 beancurd after hearing how good it is from my friends. Good thing there is no queue when I bought it. I like it! The beancurd was so silky and soft. It simply just melted in my mouth the moment I ate it. Very smooth!!! It is not very sweet as well. You would probably want to eat it when it's chill. It tastes better this way. Not good for sharing as one bowl is not enough!!The PriceQuite pricey for such a simple small bowl of dessert.

One of the supper clubs in school introduced me to 51 bean curd and since then it has been my favourite study snack. The bean curd is smooth and delicious. This one is almond flavoured. The almond fragrance can be tasted vividly in your mouth. Cost per bowl is about $2. Affordable and good.

My mother came home with the 51 soya bean and ever since then I am so hooked on to 51 soya bean. firstly the texture of the bean curd is so silky and smooth. when you put it into your mouth, it simply glides down your throat. slowly there will be this sweetness enveloping your mouth. the bean curd itself is not very sweet. it is best eaten when chilled. Very good for hot weathers.

I choose the chilled Almond Bean curd among the three flavors left; the other two are strawberry and Mango flavors bean curd. They provide total five flavors, I make a guess that the original flavors is the most popular one, as the stall assistant repeating several times the original flavors will be come in from their factory soon.

Well, it is the time to taste and find out the truth, I must say that when I use my plastic spoon sliced through the bean curd to get a scoop, it is unlike any other bean curd which is very, very soft, I would describe as silky soft.
The sweetness is just perfect, no too sweet.

The Almond bean curd is $1.80 which I understand the price has increase by20%.

I enjoyed it and would come back to try the original flavors which I have miss out this time.

I have always heard of the bean curd war at Old Airport Rd hawker centre, and since I was there this morning for my breakfast, I decided to try out one of the many Beancurd stalls. So 51 was the nearest, I decided to give it a shot and this is my FIRST time trying one there - well I must say the moment I placed my plastic spoon into the bean curd to get a scoop it sliced through the bean curd unlike any other bean curd Ive eaten before. The consistency of was silky and slightly powdery too

For $1.50 the chilled almond bean curd was a welcoming treat during this hot weather

I thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back to try the other fanciful flavors like mango and strawberry bean curd soon I hope

The thick aromatic flavour of the soyabean stays in mouth when you sip the beancurd in your mouth. Affordable price and many different flavours to choose from. This beancurd is really worth Q-ing and waiting for !

Like soy milk ? If yes, 51 tau huey is one that you should try! 51 tau Huey is pudding like tauhuey unlike the traditional one with the sweet syrup. Compared to other pudding tau huey, the 51 tau Huey is one of the best.$1.50 for a tau Huay is really worth it. The silky, smooth and soft tau Huey is really worth a try. The tau Huey is not as sweet compared to the syrup kind and is highly recommended ! Furthermore, it is undergoing a promotion of buy 5 get one FREE !!!

51 Soya Bean is the shop besides Lao ban at the old airport road food court. The stall sells soya bean curd too but unlike Lao ban, this stall has lesser customers, maybe not that famous. Only sometimes where Lao ban has really too long queue already then some customer will change to order from 51 soya bean. So one day I feel like patronizing 51 too and I found that it is also not bad, quite similar to Lao ban. The bean curd is smooth and sweet with milky taste, the soya taste is not very strong

So this could be the second choice if Lao ban has long queue next time.

Tried the 51 Soya bean today as i wanted to investigate how different/ similar it is to the original laoban tau huey! It was quite good! It is softer than laoban though it carries the similar taste and flavour of laoban! Love the silky texture and the melt-in-the-mouth feeling of this soyabean pudding! Would definitely go back for more!!! I may even abandon laoban for this!
