For sides, we started with a Salted Crispy Chicken (SGD$6.80), done rather nicely with a crispy exterior. It was not very salty despite it's name, making for a nice chewy bite after the teeth gets through the crispy skin.

Next, my favorite Golden Salted Egg Yolk Prawn Ball (SGD$14.80) with a light, crumbly batter coating the juicy prawns. The combination of salted egg yolk against the prawns was brilliant - a grainy (or sandy) texture that slowly gave way to the luscious buoyancy of the flesh within. I could have eaten the entire plate of this on my own!

Finally, the Shaved Ice with Red Bean, which also came with attap seeds. It was the shaved ice version of our local "ice kacang" I believe, tasting similar in flavor and ingredients, except the ice in this case was a lot smoother.

2. Five Spice Cheese Fries $4.80 *recommended*

I love these cheese fries and I have to eat a lousy plate of cheese fries. The cheese itself is melted onto the fries and never hardens. The fries aren't crisp, they're more of the soggy kind and taste slightly peppery.

3. Cheese Mantou $4.80

The mantous were deep fried to crispiness and it had a generic cheese slice placed on top of it to melt. To be honest, I had higher expectations of this, the mantous were okay, and the cheese seriously just tasted like any kraft cheese.

4. Eggroll with Pork Floss $6.80 *recommended*

One of my more favourite snack dishes from here, I love pork floss and with the egg rolls, it adds some substance to the dish. It can get quite filling eating too much of this, but for $6.80 you get two rolls. Not alot, but enough for everyone to get a piece or two.

I love cong yu bing! Although my favourite is from Dong Bei Ren Jia in Chinatown, this isn't too bad either. It is like a crispy roti prata with a chewy inside.

7. Brinjal with Pork Floss $4.80 *recommended*

I rarely like to eat brinjal but this was a completely different experience. The brinjal was soft inside, almost like mushy pumpkin and on the outside, and a crispy batter on the outside.

8. Fried Shitake Mushroom $8.80 *recommended*

I liked their mushrooms. It was juicy on the inside and it had a very crispy batter on the outside.
9. Green Lime & Sour Plum $3.80
Most of their hot drinks here, just make me suspect that they're instant powdered drinks. So I decided to go with a cold drink, this wasn't too bad. It tasted okay, and it was a hot day, so a cooling drink was the best option for me.

10. Mango Snow Ice $6.80

This is my favourite flavour of mango snow ice and they were quite generous with the mango, although this slightly more than what other shops charge for mango snow ice. The snow ice melted so quickly, it was rather upsetting. The shop though air conditioned, isn't that cool, they also use oscillating fans mounted on the walls to keep the shop cool.

The prices here are reasonably and is a great hang out spots for small groups.

I made a reservation for 730pm on a friday and unlike the last time I visited, it has become a lot quieter. Not sure why, parking was simple ans straightforward as there's maybe 20 or so parallel parking HDB lots. Gotta bring your coupons.

crispy on the outside and juicy, fresh , crunchy prawn on the inside... To achieve a $50 bill to use the groupon.. We ordered a single scoop of ice cream, we weren't expecting much.. But our little cookies n cream ice cream came with whipped cream, marshmallows and a slice of strawberry
I actually enjoyed it!!
marshmallows FTW!!!

Nonetheless it was a good dinner.. Aircon, with strong fans blowing throughout the cafe.. Not a bad place to cool down in the blistering Singapore heat!!

and I eat a lot! We got the $10 for $20 groupon voucher and spent $41.40 for 3 people with 3 drinks alongside our mains.
The salted fried chicken is a great choice for sharing

The fried mango sauce fish was also a good treat as they were freshly fried and super crispy! The only downside was we weren't able to finish it as we decided to splurge and spend $15 on the salted egg prawns which were also super awesome.. If you like salted egg crabs, u will like the salted egg prawns here. It is not on their normal menu, but it's on the table top special menu items, so keep a look out for it. Along with the fried shitake mushrooms.. They are also on the special menu items.

I would be back here for their desserts!
Other Info. : For weekends, I recommend you to make a reservation. But for weekdays.. they're usually quite empty.

We were puzzled by “Olive Leaf” cause it was definitely my first time hearing it. But it is just Olive fried rice which you can definitely get better ones else where e.g. Nahkon Kitchen.

So if you are looking for a interesting Taiwan cafe with mid-range prices to hangout with your friend, this is definitely one place you would want to try out! It is also a plus plus for you if you are a Jay Chou Fan, cause his music is always playing on the background!

All of us order "Lu Rou Fan" (pork braised rice), " xian shu ji", osyter omelette and cheese fries. Gotta say none of the dishes that we order disappoint us a single bit. Our favorite is "xian shu ji", the chicken is very well marinated and the skin is really crispy
Pork Braised rice is good too, the rice is very soft and blend very well with the gravy which taste good!

We also ordered pearl milk tea and the sweetness is just nice. Pearl is extremely chewy.
With so much food, each of us only paid $10 (4 person). Super affordable and worth it. Will definitely return to this place

In terms of food, we were quite pleased with the reasonable price and waiting time for the food to be served. We had the oyster mee sua ($5.80). If you are looking for the exact taste that you get from Shilin Taiwan Street Snacks, I would say that this is quite different. The noodles were slightly thicker and the soup base was equally rich but tasted less salty than what you would get from Shilin. However, the oysters do come in reasonably big size and that is fair value for the price, plus this is a dine-in setting so you get to sit down to enjoy your meal.

We ordered the mango shaved ice with strawberry ($6.80) and the vanilla shaved ice with grass jelly, red beans & sweet potato/yam balls ($7.80). We loved them both. The mango shaved ice is sweet but complemented by the slightly sour strawberry slices. Don't be deceived by the white and bland looking vanilla ice as the ingredients under the shaved ice is quite a mouthful and is definitely yummy too. Taiwanese bubble tea and aiyu jelly tea are also available in the menu.

Went to their Beach Road outlet for lunch.

This is my 1st visit to the 8degrees chain of eatries.
Ambience was pretty nice and staff service are fast and prompt even with the office lunch crowd.

Ordered Chicken cutlet ramen ($9.80), Cold noodle ($5.80), 8* Bubble tea ($3.80), and Rose milk tea ($4.80).

Their ramen portion is huge and equivalent to 2 ladies portion with fried cutlet served separately on a plate. It was crispy and pretty tender and juicy, soup is just plain chicken stock coupled with bouncy noodles taiwan cuisine is famous for.

Their cold noodle uses the very same noodle type tossed with same sauce and fresh veggy. It's a simple dish and pretty small in size so some may not find it adequate to fill the tummy.

The restaurant also offer lunch set meal which are nicely pack in train bento style packaging. Have yet to try but sure looks tempting.

Bubble tea wise was quite disappointed. The rose milk tea was simply adding bandung syrup with milk... Not that worth it to be honest.

Their 8* milk tea was relatively normal/acceptable leaning towards sweet-very sweet. We were not asked on sugar level thus assumed it was not allowed.

With affordable prices and abv avg dishes, I would surely want to visit again some time soon.

Pork Rice - $3.80/bowl: Also the specialty of the store. I was not surprised when it comes in a small bowl from the price. It would be much better to have a proper serving of the rice cause it is good! The meat used is fatty, but suits the rice very well.

If I ever visit this place again, it's going to be this dessert's credit.

The mild sweetness of the milk flavour snow ice was really yummy, I felt like baby craving for milk.
Assorted fresh fruits of strawberries, kiwi and mango gave the snow ice a colorful presentation and soothing to one's throat after a meal.

Other than the Snow Ice, the rest of the dishes we tried were either normal or below average.
Not sure if it was our sheer luck, or that's their kitchen's usual standard.
If it's the latter, it's gonna be another example of "Crowded doesn't mean good" :X

. Back to the food, we ordered milk tea, lu rou fan, beef noodle, cheese fries and brinjal with pork floss. Though the lu rou fan was kind of small but the taste made up for it. On the other hand, the beef noodle was quite plain and the brinjal did not feel crispy enough. The cheese fries came in this cute little metal bin which is a nice touch for presentation. The bubble tea was of decent standard, not losing out to those bubble tea joints. Overall a good eat, will probably wan to return another day at night as i saw microphone and musical instrument setup, so they hv those in-house singers crooning maybe the best tunes or all jay chou songs? The shop was pretty empty when i was there at 3pm on a saturday, but not a bad place for a quiet lunch. Total bill ws $28 so i topped up just $8.

Stepped into the bistro, and overwhelmed by Jay Chou songs, and the yellowish low light ambience. Having your favorite taiwanese delights, and listening to soothing songs by Jay Chou, makes it a relax dining place.
