For the full review and more photos, head over to http://toroamtheworld.blogspot.com/2015/12/food-review-nunsongyee.htmlThe Bingsu craze has taken over Singapore by storm a few months back. But now, there are still Bingsu shops popping up, and I wonder how they are gonna fight the competition... Nunsongyee has been doing well though, as it has opened three branches within its first 10 months here.I went on 3 separate occasions, each time ordering something new. The below are all that I've tried so far.Injeolmi Bingsu ($12.90): This is kind of like their original flavour of Bingsu - chopped almonds with soy powder and rice cakes. The soy flavour was quite strong.Strawberry Bingsu ($15.90): You can't go wrong with strawberries, can you? This was satisfying - the strawberries sweet and the shaved milk soft and fluffy.Cheesecake Bingsu ($15.90): This is one of my favourite of the lot! It's served with real cheesecake cubes and finely crushed digestive biscuits. It's really like eating a cheesecake, because you've got the crumb base and the cheesecake itself, plus the additional shaved milk! The best part is that in the middle of the bowl they layer more digestive biscuits too, so fret not about finishing the toppings!Black Sesame Bingsu ($18.90): Recommended as one of their signatures, this Bingsu is served with a big scoop of red bean paste instead of the usual ice cream, plus almond flakes, black sesame powder and more rice cakes. I don't like black sesame so this naturally wasn't my favourite...Oreo Bingsu ($12.90): Once again, the finely-crushed Oreo bits are not only found at the top, but in between the soft, fluffy shaved ice too. Below is actually more milk (wondering if it's condensed) because it gets a bit sweeter at the bottom. So, once you've dug a path downwards, try to mix it with the top layer so it doesn't get too bland at the start.Choco Banana Bingsu ($13.90): It comes with two sticks of Pepero and a squeeze of caramel sauce and sliced almonds atop the ice cream. The interesting thing is that at the bottom, instead of the suspected condensed milk, there is something that tastes somewhat like Milo? It could be that the chocolate powder mixed with the milk below hence giving such a flavour haha.I love the Bingsus here as they are very soft and really melts in your mouth. It's nothing like the coarse ice from ice kachang and they are indeed fine like snow! Although there is condensed milk served at the side, I don't think it's necessary to pour it in because I'm comfortable with the sweetness level. Prices are a little on the high side (especially the $18.90 ones) so I recommend the ones at a lower price range, which are equally yummy and satisfying! Service was good as the Korean shop owners and assistants were friendly! continue reading

Located deep inside Serangoon Gardens is the newly Korean dessert shop. Nusongyee (snowflake) is an authentic Korean dessert that owned by Koreans. Since my brother-in law is driving, we (sisters) decided to give it a try. The shop is evolved with variety flavors of bingsu, Korean rice cakes and variety flavors of toast breads. Korean folks are managing the operation here with the self-service concept. Customers will place an order and make payment at the counter. Once everything is done, we are given a device to notify on the collection at the counter. Here are the lists that we explored:-Injeolmi Bingsu S$14.90.It’s recommended by the staff as one of the signature dessert in-house. Injeolmi is sweet Korean rice cake made by steaming and pounding with powdered coating. It’s like having muah chee texture as the desserts are made from dried beans, nuts and seeds. The roasted soy bean and almond taste with added sugar definitely enhance the sweetness and crunchiness of the dessert.Chocolate Banana Bingsu S$13.90.You will never go wrong the combination. Sweetness taste of chocolate and banana with fine ice milk shaving like snowflakes works pretty well. It is best shared with friends as it is quite a sweet tooth for individual.Garlic Cheese Toast S$9.90.Toasted with flavorful garlic cheese comes with 8 slices. We love the crispy crust with cheese toasted.Total bill does not include GST and service charge. Although the price is to the higher side, it does served authentic taste of Korean dessert. This is a premium price to pay if you want to get a taste of it.For more reviews: http://hazeldiary.com Instagram: hazelleo continue reading

Deep within serangoon gardens lies a dessert shop where few would come across - Nunsongyee, which is getting more and more popular by the day. This couple month old Korean dessert cafe sells ice kachang, in korean style. Yes it is called bingsu.Black Sesame Bingsu The dish looked spectacular but i wasn't impressed upon trying the dish. The ingredients tasted very separated and didn't blend well with the ice shavings. Particularly the sesame and the red bean didn't go well together in my opinion.overall review: full review and pictures@  http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/02/nunsongyee-serangoon-gardens.htmlfollow me on instagram: @shauneeie or like my facebook page: @shauneeie for more foodie escapades continue reading

This place specialise in Bingsu, a currently super popular dessert in South Korea. The dessert here is very authentic and is even better than what i had in Seoul. The most well-received dish is their Injeomi Bingsu (Sweet Rice Cake Bingsu) and i personally love their Butter Honey Toast. Price wise is to the higher side but i feel it's worth it. The location is really really ulu and require some effort if you are going their by public transport. For more photo, menu and review, visit:https://chinchaijiak.wordpress.com/2015/01/27/nunsongyee-the-korean-dessert-cafe-and-their-signature-bingsu/ continue reading
