It was a Sunday afternoon, yet the place was packed and one had to queue up to wait for a table. About 10 minutes, we were showed to a table in front of the counter at the air con area.
Worn out menu framed the table top. The outlet was decorated in a traditional chinese style, with traditional chinese red wood furniture around.
Order was taken at the counter with payment together. Food was later served to the table. So remember to take note of table number before ordering.

Mango Sago with Pomelo 杨枝甘露 ($4.50)
Cooling down with a bowl of this. The standard seem to have dropped a lot. While refreshing, the taste was rather watered down. The ice was in little cubes, not shaved ice. Could not taste puree mango in the water. It tasted more like mango flavouring with evaporated milk. The only saving grace was the juicy sweet mango cubes.

Gingko, barley, and bean curd skin soup ($3) in cold version
My partner who was having it. remarked that it smelt a bit off and had rather hard gingko nuts (felt like bought off the shelves type).
Maybe business getting too good these days.

It was piping hot when it's being served to us. The staff was kind enough to give us an extra bowl and spoon for us to share between ourselves.

The durian mango sago was good as well. The mango was sweet and blended well with the durian and sago.

It was near tea time when we arrive but the queue is acceptable.
Waiting time is about 10minutes. We will definitely go back again for more.

Although they have expanded from one shop space to two, queues are still inevitable as the place is always full house.

Menu is placed at every table protected by the glass top and be sure to be spoilt for choices.

One of my favourites order, Mango Sago with Pomelo. Together it comes in bright yellow milk color filled with transparent sago, pomelo pulps as well as fresh mango cubes. It tasted funny to me and I will prefer the former to this.

Relatively "cheap" desserts in comparison to the offerings in Bugis Junction and you can't go wrong with a bowl of cold mango sago with pomelo or watermelon!
it's so refreshing!

I just wish that they had some munchies to go with!

Ladyboss told us, it was most sweetening dessert among all. Durian matched with Mango was creative, never thought of such combination before. Strong aromatic of Durian, it was perfectly blended with Mango and the right portion of Pomelo slices were added. I can even bite the Mango cubes inside the bowl, price of $4.80 was definitely reasonable. Dessert cheered me up, the sweet rinsed off unhappiness.

My dining partner ordered the Mango Sago with Pomelo ($4.00). It was a tad sour for me, hence did not really appeal to me. He said that the Pomelo was also a little bitter, but he really loved the generous amount of Mango that came along with it.

There were many variations offered for the Steamed Milk Custard ($2.80) such as a Coffee-flavoured one to a version that even contains chocolate cookies in it. After much hesitation I went for the Original Cold Steamed Milk Custard. It is smooth and custardy, with a texture similar to Lao Ban Beancurd but with an eggy taste. It was pretty near the taste of a Creme Brulee, without the layer of sugar coated on top and with a custard that is less sweet and lighter in taste. For those who prefer to have it warm, a hot version is also available too.

Chinese Herbal Jelly, it looked dully black. Tasted a bit bitter yet very chilling and refreshing, I ate it along with honey. Price at $3.80, it was not cheap. Another one, we had Grass Jelly with Eggy Soup. The mixture of sweetness from the broth and the jelly was perfect. It was only $1.60. Fancy about the shop, I actually visit it often.

What i love about ah chew dessert the most is it open till late night. Was craving for some nice desserts after dinner so we came here.I ordered Mango Pomelo, which cost SGD$4.00 ( no gst nor service charge ). You have to order at the counter and pay first before the staff serve you with your dessert after that. Overall, the mango dessert is thick and sweet. Very nice. The pomelo is a bit sour to my liking but it is still alright.

Ah Chew occupies 2 shops next to each other and has doubled their sitting capacity. However, if you are coming in a big group, it is likely to be hard to find seats. You will always have difficulties finding seats whenever you drop by. But lucky for us on that day (8/8/2013) , we managed to secure a table for a quick refreshment. Note, you will not be able to chat after your dessert as there like likely people eyeing on your seats by then.
It is a self-service dessert shop where we place our order at the cashier counter and made payment upon ordering. The staff will then serve us the desserts.

Mango Pomelo $4.00 .Mango taste sweet and the pomelo meat blends inside the mango sago enhance the taste. The slight sour pomelo neutralises the sweetness of the mango.

Black Glutinous Rice Desserts ($2.90). The ‘spider web’ design presentation with a bit of toasted almond flakes was something fascinating. The black glutinous rice was grainy and a subtle creamy taste. It is quite a filling dessert.
The queue can be very bad sometimes and some customers tend not to queue for it. The staffs can be quite loud to customers when the place is crowded with people. So if you are going for good desserts, I guess you won’t mind on the staff services.
