Having tried their noodles, I'm always pondering about the taste of its salted baked chicken as the aroma has filled the corridors and workers are seen preparing the kampong chickens for baking.

If not for the recent potluck gathering, I would have totally forgotten about Lam's Salt Baked chicken till I come across their shop again.

Nicely packed in a paper bag with foils and wax paper wrapped the aromatic baked chicken. As we tore open the paper, a heady scent of chinese herbs permeates. With its juices yielding to the knife's cut, everyone who in the house rushed in to have their lion's share.

Surprisingly, Salt Baked Chicken was succulent in the pool of luscious tonic broth. It's just more than addictive and we simply could not wait to have a bite of it. Though its process includes baking with salt, it was not that salty, not at all. Every bite of meat was accentuated with herbal taste and totally worth every penny we paid for! Recommended!

Took away a salt baked kampong chicken - it's amazingly tastely even after a 30 mins drive home. the Chicken is not over cooked and is juicy and well marinated. A little costly for the size ($22 each) but i think it's worth every penny for the cost. Probably enough for 3 onlyHad the abalone noodles, was okay. Had quite a bit of ingredients - minced pork, pork slices, scallop and abalone.Overall - recommended! thumbs up!

I also ordered their abalone soup to try as their picture is very enticing. However it does not taste as good as how it is advertised. The abalone soup’s serving is also very small, similar to their abalone noodles. The soup is piping hot but the taste is not up to my expectation after the long hours of cooking. It was not flavorful and the fish maw, abalone and scallop are overcooked!! Definitely not worth the price…

This stall at Race Course Road serves only abalone noodle, there is no normal minced meat noodles like other Lam’s stalls. Although the presentation of the bowl is very big, at $6.50, I would say the portion of noodle served is smaller than what is usually served in local food court. Moreover there is nothing special about their abalone noodle except for two small cubes of abalone and one scallop. The chili in the dry noodle is not fragrant at all and the amount added is very minimal.

Located just beside the junction of balestier and race course road, Lam’s Abalone noodle is known for 2 items, the abalone noodles and the salt baked chicken. I came by to eat my usual favorite dish, the $6.50 standard bowl abalone noodles and the $6 braised toufu. The standard noodle bowl comes with one fried fish ball, 1 meatball, 1 abalone stick, carrots, lettuce, lean meat and minced pork. I especially like the braised toufu with its thick starchy sauce and minced pork. I actually like to eat my noodles with the toufu sauce. Some people may find the toufu sauce a little too salty but I like it a lot. Noodle quantity is a bit small though.

I keep seeing people eat this small bowl of pig trotter if I’m not wrong, I will try it out next time.

Service
Service is like normal kopitam service. Nothing much to comment about.

Ambience
Kopitam is very narrow. Dusty and noisy as it is near the main road.

Price
I think it is over priced for a small portion.

Recommendation / Tips
(1) try to sit somewhere that is not close to the road.
(2) Bigger eaters may think that this bowl of noodles is too small.
(3) You will be very thirsty after eating the noodle.

One might usually associate abalone with high-end Chinese restaurants and hefty price tags. So it was a pleasant surprise to find a shop in Little India selling minced meat noodles served with an abalone skewer at just $6 a bowl!Unless you've got an appetite like a sparrow, the portions aren't really all the adequate. But it lacks in quantity, the noodles more than make up for with the variety and quality of ingredients rarely found in your average bowl of minced meat noodles. The springy noodle

The springy noodles are topped with minced meat, slices of pork with both meat and fishballs. And let's not forget the crowning glory - the skewer of abalone which taste really fresh and wholesome.

For the true-blue foodie, the stall offers more than just its signature noodles. I had this savoury stew of tofu which earns thumbs up from me as well. The pieces of tofu were soft and smooth. Together with the thick, flavourful stew, was a great delight on the palette.

So if you're ever looking for a touch of class to that very average bowl of noodles, keep Lam's in mind!

Had been to this stall a few times already but have never shared the review which this time i will not fail coz its really worth the recommendation. Most drivers will notice this stall driving along Balestier road. This is a coffeeshop style set up where you place your order at the counter, pay up first then wait to be served. Ordered the normal abalone noodles with home made sauce toufu and 2 fish cake. noodle quantity given is small but the minced pork, chilli and dark sauce mixed is a pleaser

Ordered the normal abalone noodles with home made sauce toufu and 2 fish cake. noodle quantity given is small but the minced pork, chilli and dark sauce mixed is a pleaser. The abalone is the smaller head type and served on a satay stick in 3 slices. Also it comes with one fish ball and 1 meat ball. For me its not the noodle sauce that's the winner ,its the toufu sauce, thick and starchy, it went so well with the fried toufu and minced pork. Actually half the time, i was pairing this toufu sauce with my noodles instead. The preparation style also help to enhance it, kept warm in the typical xiao wan mian metal hotpot. Dun miss this out if you are here!

This time i've ordered their bak chor mee. They used the deep fried pork lard cubes to cook the noodle that's why it's so fragrant but be mindful that it's sinfully oily too! They even put in a piece of salted fish which is quite a surprise but don't really match with the noodle actually. Not sure whether they've accidentally put it in or it's one of the ingredient Fish cake made from west saury ( 西刀鱼) is a must try! Fresh and chewy. Simply the best with a mere S$1.20 per piece only!

Although the coffee shop is not air-conditioned and drinking hot soup makes me sweating away, but i'll still go back for this super yummy soup!!!! However i shall propose to go for dinner instead of lunch so that you won't feel so hot!
