Good place to stop at if you get a sudden craving for a simple bowl of warm, smooth, soothing beancurd. Add-ons (gingko nuts, attap seeds etc) are available, but I recommend just going for the plain version.Friendly and fast service a pleasant bonus. continue reading

Who wouldn't want an ice cold soya bean drink on a hot sunny and humid day? If you happened to be around Tanglin Halt Market or anywhere in Commonwealth (just a 5 minutes walk from the train station) and you are feeling really thirsty, do drop by the market! I think Ah luck bean curd is the only stall selling authentic soya bean drink and chin chow drink all the way from morning to night (the extremely friendly stallowner told me that they open till 3am?!) I got myself a cup of soya bean drink and one sip at it, you can taste how flavorful it is and is definitely very authentic and have this "gu zao wei". The stall owner also tell me she's the second generation selling this and running the stall. What a hidden gem! continue reading

This is one of the stalls still opened in the evening. I decided to order a cup of grass jelly drink to cool myself down from the crazy heat. There was quite a bit of grass jelly swimming in the drink. The level of sweetness tasted just fine without compromising the taste of grass jelly. Just enough ice cubes added to chill it and not to dilute the taste. Soya Bean Drink is another must order here. continue reading

Nice grass jelly drink to cool you down from the crazily hot weather. And it definitely complemented the chicken rice that i ordered for dinner especially so as the chilli for chicken rice was rather spicy. The sweetness was just right with the generous amount of grass jelly. Other than grass jelly drink, they do sell grass jelly with longan dessert as well as soya bean drink and soya beancurd. A healthier choice as compared to those canned soft drinks. continue reading
