I was back to ambush for dinner last weekend when i was at JEM. This time round i have rib eye steak with fries, and they were good! i ordered it as medium well and the beef texture is just right; not too hard nor soft. And it is very tender. Together with the hot BBQ sauce it just taste perfect. The fries were pretty average on the other hand. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this meal

We had this French dish called the Poulet Roti ($17.20) which is roasted garlic & herb rubbed chicken leg with grainy mustard mash with yellow chanterelle mushrooms, reduced cream sauce & seasonal vegetables. It wasn't exceptionally awesome and definitely cannot be compared with the restaurant 'Poulet' but a good try anyway!

We also got the another French dish of Sesame Crusted Salmon Fillet ($17.80) which was served with cranberry rice, scallion capers hollandaise & garden greens. The fish may need a little more flavour but the rice & sauce were amazing!

Besides the French dishes, we figured we needed to try another European dish and this is the Spanish Ambush Paella ($14.20). It comes with white clams, mussels, queen scallop, prawns, sliced bacon and sausages. It's a very flavourful dish but just a little too liquidity than normal. I do hope the other paellas taste better considering it's Spain's national dish.

Overall, although the prices should be lowered, the ambience and service were great. I also like the concept of the casual and convenient European food. Will return to try other dishes like the the German sausages and chicken schnitzel.

Baby Calamari Fritti Skewers $6.80

It reminds me of those squid heads that Old Chang Kee is selling. Nice, crispy and chewy. The deep-frying part is an important element which affects the overall taste.

Funghi Alla Gamberi $9.20 - Recommended

The photo didn't do justice to the food. Although it looks as if it has just mushrooms and prawns, but it definitely tastes good! My kind of comfort food if I don't choose to have any mains. I love the way the mushrooms are sauteed. To me, mushrooms taste the best when saute. They used olive oil which is healthy. And the prawns are superb fresh and springy.

Escargots De Bourgogne $8.50 - Recommended

I need the seafood smell to be removed in order to enjoy this escargot. It did and all I can taste is the chewiness of these fresh escargots with lots of garlic.

Marinera Paella - $13.80

It has this very tomato taste and it stays in your mouth for awhile. You can also find fresh prawns, salmon belly, small little scallops, clams and mussels. It kind of make me wonder how they manage the fire so well that it is not too moist. This is the essence of what paella should be in my opinion. We actually did not squeeze that lemon onto the dish but it is good enough.

Went to the Jem outlet yesterday'. Been hearing good reviews on Ambush and thought of trying!
Reached at about 8pm on a Friday night, and there wasn't a queue. Got served to our seat right away.

Look a look at the menu, and my eyes were set on the Squid Ink pasta. Did tried squid ink pasta in some other places but this one in Ambush came with baby scallop, which is one of my Favourite. Also, it's topped with flying fish roe. Gosh. All the best food in one plate! On the other hand, my Boyf chose Vongole, which is one of the typical pasta. We also order one set of the "Complete your meal", which came with the soup of the day and a drink. There was also a choice for your pasta from spaghetti to penne. We chose linguine, what we usually have for pasta.

The dishes came shortly. The soup was interesting, it was my first time trying cream of carrot, hardly hear of such soup, or maybe I was just living in the well. Hahaha. It was okay, just a little bit bland, but with a dash of pepper to go with it, I think it's fine.

I was amazed by the amount of baby scallop that the pasta had. There was about 7 of it, I went Wow, worth my money. The Vongole pasta came right after my Squid Ink, the amount of clam was just generous!!!!!! We had a sip of the white wine sauce, gosh, so heavenly, it was sweet, filled with the sweetness of seafood.

Overall, the pasta were great, and delicious, especially for us, we don't usually have pasta, but these two dishes were just Wowwwww.
Would love to return again!

& the staffs were all friendly! Plus point!

Last month, I was at Ambush to sample their Oktoberfest Specials as well as their standard menu thanks to Openrice.

Green Apple Mojito $5.50
The combination of sour green apple syrup, mojito syrup, soda and fresh mint leaves makes a great drink. The mint leaves in particular, leaves a refreshing and cool aftertaste. The fizzyness of the soda was quite shiok too.

Here were some of the food items on the Oktoberfest menu that we got to try.

Roasted Pork Knuckle served with sauerkraut, light brown sauce and mashed potato $18
This was not to my liking but the pork was quite tender. There were visible fats around which I could not really stand as I personally do not like fatty foods. The roasted pork skin was quite crispy but it had a layer of fat over it.

I love the mashed potato and the sauce. The potato was very smooth and had a consistent texture, with no lumps. The sauce was also flavourful.

Currywurst $16.90
If you love curry and sausages, this would be the ideal dish for you. The Berlin's Star pan seared bratwursts were very well seasoned and had a distinct curry flavour. They were also fat and juicy. I felt that the sauce accompanied with it was average tasting only. The salad dressing was also packed with flavours, making it a yummy side.

Schweinmedallion $18.90
This not-sure-how-to-pronounce (Sch-wein-me-dal-lion?) dish is made up of pan grilled pork tenderloin, sliced and placed on top of a bed of delightful homemade spatzle and sauerkraut in mushroom cream sauce. The grilled pork tenderloin's texture resembled that of breast meat. I find that it was lacking in flavour but it complemented well with the mushroom cream sauce. I like how there were no visible fats in the pork and they were already sliced so it was quite easy to eat it. I really love the spatzle so much that I think I can eat it as a meal itself! When paired with the creamy mushroom sauce, it was really tasty.

Poulet Roti $17.20
Roasted garlic and herb rubbed chicken leg with grainy mustard mash, yellow chanterelle mushrooms, reduced cream sauce & seasonal vegetables. The mustard mash served in this dish is something different from the usual original mash. There were no visible lumps which was evident of good preparation process. In terms of texture and appearance, the poulet resembled a lot like duck confit. It was surprisingly very very tender and the mushroom sauce gave it extra flavour when dipped into it. The skin had minimal fats and was slightly crisp. Yummy!

Chicken Gordon Bleu $18.50
I have not tried such a dish before! This dish is made up of breaded chicken breast stuffed with smoked ham and cheese. Mushroom cream sauce and spatzle are served underneath. I need not explain further about how good the spatzle tastes with the mushroom sauce. Definitely one of my favourite combinations!

The chicken breast was a tad dry on its own but with the melted cheese, they made a great complement. I could not really taste the flavour of the smoked ham though.

Baby Scallop & Flying Fish Roe in Squid Ink Sauce $14.80
This was not the first time I tried Squid Ink pasta so there was not much excitement when I dug into this dish. Nevertheless, I am a pasta lover and I adore this. Usually, people avoid ordering this dish because of its dramatic all-black appearance. People are also afraid that eating it will stain the teeth and I am sure no one will want to leave the restaurant with black-stained teeth. Rest assure that this doesn't stain one's teeth at all (provided you lick the sauce off your teeth and gulp down some liquid after). Tried and tested!

Crispy Chicken & Seaweed - Aglio Olio Ambush Style ($13.00)
The pasta had a garlicky flavour and it was mildly spicy due to the chilli flakes scattered everywhere. The crispy chicken was indeed crispy and tender as well.

Ambush's Paella $14.20
The paella was very moist but I felt that it would taste better if more of the gravy was soaked up. There were plenty of ingredients in it such as clams, mussels, scallops, prawns and sliced bacon. The sliced sausages scattered around the rice gave it a nice smokey flavour. There was also a slight tomato taste and it should be tolerable for those who dislike tomatoes but love paella.

Disappointingly, chocolate did not flow out as one would expect when it being dissected. It resembled more like a molten chocolate cake rather than a souffle though.

Tiramisu $6.80
I don't think that Ambush's tiramisu contains alcohol but somehow, there was a distinct taste of alcohol to me. Must be the italian gourmet coffee infused in it! They were quite generous with the chocolate powder toppings. For me, it did not really matter since I love chocolate but for others, the texture may be too powdery overwhelming.

Apple Crisp $6.80
The caramel syrup was not too sweet and it was well balanced with the vanilla ice-cream. The apple pie was crumbly and served warm which made it even more delicious when paired up with the cold ice-cream. Worth a try!

Molten Chocolate Brownie $6.80
Other than the sight of the whipped cream sitting awkwardly on top of the scoop of vanilla icecream, I love how chocolatey this dessert looks, especially that generous amount of chocolate sauce drizzled all over the chocolate brownie. This dessert may seem very chocolatey but it was not overwhelming for me because I am a chocolate lover. The rich flavour of the warm brownie was well balanced by the light flavour of the vanilla icecream. Chocolate lovers will adore this!

Overall, it was a satisfying and relatively affordable meal

To say getting a little taste of Europe, I would say, getting a little taste of almost every parts of Europe. They only use the freshest ingredients, choose from tantalizing, mussels from Belgium, scrumptious paella from Spain, juicy sausages from Germany and delectable pasta from Italy!

So heading in to one restaurant, Ambush, your taste buds have already traveled around Europe before you do!

Beverage:
I ordered Shirley’s temple- fizzy mocktail and punch. It really refreshing and the taste of cherry aren't lacking. Always, I ordered blue coral but I think it has replace that favorite fizzy mocktail of mine! As, it really taste refreshing even without mint, and it isn’t really sweet with that soda taste! It has a little sweet and sour taste which makes you crave for more when you start drinking a slip of it.

Shirley's Temple- $5.90

Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. To the locals, it is not called Oktoberfest, but die Wies’n, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds themselves.

In Germany, sausages are a MUST ! Even their vending machine have Sausages ! WHY SINGAPORE NO HAVE?!?!?!?

Anyway, their sausages are FREAKING delicious please, how I wish I could eat it like NOW ! Heehee. The sausages are really fat and when you bite, it has the split open feeling. *ahem* I eat like a lady okay. And this dish is Berlin's star pan seared bratwurst (a typical type of sausage found in Germany) which is perfectly matched with the brown sauce

Currywrust - $16.50

I'm not someone who really enjoy eating chicken breast meat as they are usually dry and hard, but in Ambush, it's totally different. I enjoyed eating the chicken Gordon bleu as they add the cheese and ham inside the chicken breast which allow it to be more flavoured + it isn't so stiff after the stir frying ! Together with the sauce of mushroom cream sauce and having strong tasting mashed potatoes. Oh, there are three dishes that has mashed potatoes and all taste differently !

Chicken Gordon Bleu - $18.50

Squid Ink pasta are always something that people are not willing to give it a try, simply because it's totally black. And looks are of course important. However, you will be totally surprise by its taste and what people always say 'do not judge a book by its cover'. This fit perfectly for the squid Ink spaghetti ! Squid link sauce actually make the pasta taste a little sweet together with the clams. And actually the pasta isn't as oily as it seen in the picture, it's the squid ink sauce which give that oily look. But nevertheless, it's delicious and teeth staining ! Hahaha ! Not a first date dish man ladies !

Baby Scallop and Flying Fish Roe with Squid Ink Sauce (S$14.80)

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE !!!!!
Hahahas, yes, I go gaga whenever I saw this dish !! A roasted garlic and herb rubbed chicken legs that has a thin layer of cripy skin with that thick tender meat ! And I'm not kidding when I said thick ! Even thought there is garlic, but the taste of the chicken is full of the fresh herb and the creamy mushroom sauce ! OMO, I FEEL HUNGRY NOW. LOL

Apple crisp is like the favourite among all those chocolaty desserts ! It has whipped cream, ice cream and of course the apple crisp. And perhaps is because all are chocolate desserts while this is stand out for all those dishes.

The apple crisp is like a pie, having thin crust at the side, while apple in the middle. And trust me, the apple are like real apple, while add on the crisp-ness in the pie. Also, with those sweet caramel :> Nom nom

'Roasted Pork Knuckle (Half)' served with Sauerkraut, Light Brown Sauce and Mashed Potato
'Pork Knuckle', a difficult delicacy to savour. So why is it a difficult delicacy? While trying out the 'Pork Knuckle' that different types of restaurants are offering, I find the part of cutting the extremely crispy skin to be the most annoying. Some of the 'Pork Knuckle' out there in the market are as hard as a rock and the dining experience could easily turn into an unpleasant one. As for the 'Pork Knuckle' over here, they have nicely sliced it up into small slices, which makes it much more easier to be shared among a group of friends. Although I find parts of the skin to be a bit too tough, but the meat is pretty tender and it goes well with all the side dishes.

'CurryWurst'
Though it's known as 'CurryWurst', it's actually 'Bratwurst'(a type of German Sausage) topped with 'Curry Powder', 'Ketchup' and 'Onions'. The 'CurryWurst' were crispy on the outside and it's juicy, bouncy and tender on the inside. On top of that, the nice mixture between the taste of the 'Curry Powder' and the 'Sausage' is heavenly and it's worth a big (+). Fries wise, isn't something special, but you can dipped it in the sauce to enhance the taste of the fries even further.

'Baby Scallop & Flying Fish Roe - Squid Ink Sauce'
This is a plate of 'Black Coloured Pasta' topped with Japanese 'Hotate'(Scallop). Though the overall texture of the 'Pasta' is slightly a bit oily, but the overall taste is pretty interesting. In fact, there's a mix of butter and squid ink in every single bite, which is amazingly interesting.

'Apple Crisp'
Probably because I'm not a big fan of chocolate, therefore out of all the desserts that I have tried over here, I find the taste of this to be the best. It's a slice of apple pie topped with a scoop of 'Vanilla' ice cream and sweet 'Caramel' syrup.

To my surprise this drink is not sweet as expected from normal Latte. The honey added was light and ginger juice was also very mild. I added only a sachet of sugar to the drink. An unusual combination but taste good. I was teasing the lady server why is it I was the first to order my drink and served last. She explained to me that this special drink required more time to prepare and importantly has to be served hot.

Signature Dish Ambush’s Spanish Paella priced at S$14.20

There was a combination of white clams, mussels, queen scallop, prawns with sliced bacons and sausages. The vital preparation technique for this dish is to ensure that the rice comes out loose. This most well-known dish in Spain is made with rice with saffron, which gives it a yellow colour and tasty flavour. This dish was actually originated from Valencia.

Baby Scallop & Flying Fish Roe with Squid Ink Sauce priced at S$14.80

My first encounter with squid ink dish.

From now on, I will retain the squid ink bags and not discard them to prepare my own version of Spaghetti with squid ink. There was buttery flavour that generated from the spaghetti. The freshness and succulent sautéed Japanese baby hotates is so irresistible. Just simply impossible to resist.

Immediate after having a few spoonful of this dish, I drained my mouth with warm water straight away. Though there was a small portion of flying fish roe, I could not taste the crunchness of the roe. Probably I was so engrossed trying the dish.

The most expensive dish of the day was the Char Grilled Lamb Saddle Bone-In Steak at S$22.80.

A medium done New Zealand pan grilled bone-in lamb saddle loin in crusted form. Served with preboiled carrots and long beans with a combination of mint conserve and balsamic veal vinegar. I do not take lamb but I did try a small piece of the meat and I felt the taste was gamey to my liking.

For French Entrée we had the Poulet Roti priced at S$17.20.

The chicken leg seasoned with roasted garlic and herb with grainy mustard mash. Served with Chanterelle mushrooms. Reduced cream sauce and preboiled carrots and long beans. The chicken so tender that the bone just automatically drop out from the meat the minute it was cut into slices. Just yummy.

From German to Spanish now Italian Pasta.

Crispy Chicken and Seaweed – Aglio Olio Ambush Style for the price of S$13.00 was worth trying.

I could smell the fragrant crunchy crispy deep-fried breaded chicken from afar topped with roasted seaweeds. The delectable pasta dish is also one of Ambush Signature Dish.

The last dish of the day at Ambush was Schweinmedallion. Priced: S$18.90

Sliced pork tenderloin pan grilled and served with mushroom sauce together with homemade Spatzle (type of dumpling of soft texture found in Southern Germany cuisines) and German Sauerkraut (sour cabbage finely cut that has been fermented).

Simply dessertalicious.

We tried four out of the five desserts. Price ranging between S$6.80 to S$8.80.

From left to right:

Molten Chocolate Brownie - heart melt chocolate brownie served warm with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. A combination of hot and cold.

The next dessert is the Apple Crisp. Crunchy crumpled chunky apple pie topped with Vanilla ice-cream together with whipped cream and sweet caramel syrup.

Tiramisu- made from the finest mascarpone cheese with Italian gourmet coffee and dusted with chocolate powder. I find this dessert slightly dry.

The interesting dessert of the day was the Chocolate Lava Souffle. (Last photo right hand corner)

This warm and soft chocolate cake served with Vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce. There was no melting and oozing chocolate from the mini chocolate soufflé molten lava cake. After experimenting for a few minutes and twisting the plate in all directions, we managed to witness a small flow of melted chocolate coming out from the cake.

This was a wonderful experience of food tasting with such a wide variety of European cuisine in a meal. The opportunity to a piece of Europe on my plate. Spoilt for choices with Ambush extensive array of dishes.

The traditional photo taking to round up our food tasting session together with OpenRicers and two members of the serving crew from Ambush.

Noting that the service was great. The crew were very attentive to our needs and have a good knowledge of the menu explaining to us the ingredients that were added to each dish. Our serving plates are substituted and replaced with new clean ones from time to time. From my point of view, they have indeed achieved good customer satisfaction.

Thank you to OpenRice Singapore for this sumptuous lunch invitation.

From Berlin – CurryWurst which is Berlin’s Star Pan seared Bratwurst (Sausages) topped with curry-tomato dressing and accompanied with fresh onions, fries and mesclun salad.

Priced: $16.50. One of the five dishes available from Oktoberfest 2013 menu.

Fragrant, tasty and juicy sausages topped with curry-tomato dressing.

Mesclun salad a mixture of refreshing salad greens that are harvested together. These greens are sown close together and picked young, like spring mix.
The fries and the diced small bits of onion complement the dish well.
The curry tomato dressing added an unique flavour to the sausages.

Half portion of Roasted Pork Knuckle served with sauerkraut, light brown sauce and mashed potato.
Priced: $18.00

This classic pork knuckle was roasted moderately well but definitely not served directly from the oven because some of the pieces are pretty cold and not warm. The knuckle has a crackly golden rind richness over the tender meat and fats. The light brown sauce and mashed potato goes well with the meat.

Chicken Gordon Bleu also from Oktoberfest 2013 menu. The breaded chicken breast meat are stuffed with smoked ham and cheese. The mushroom cream sauce and spatzle are served along with this dish.

Tender chicken meat with a tasteful flavour of the smoked ham and the oozing cheese coming out from the wrapped chicken. The julienne purple cabbage are sautéed with pepper and salt.

Priced $18.50

Then came along the colourful fizzy mocktails and punchs. Price ranging between $5.50 to $5.90 per serving.

From Left to Right:

Tropical Sparkles – Pineapple and Mango juice combined and topped with Soda and twist of lime.

Shirley’s Temple – Using Grenadine syrup and lime juice topped with Soda and Maraschino Cherry.

Lime Ricky – Lime juice mixed with Mojito syrup topped with Soda and lemon wedges.

Green Apple Mojito – Syrup from sour green apple with added Mojito syrup topped with Soda and fresh mint leaves.

Sun Riser – Combination of orange and lime juice with added Grenadine syrup and lemon wheel.

Passionate Mission – Using Passion Fruit syrup together with tea liquid topped with Soda and added fresh mint leaves.

This is the first part of the wonderful food experience.

CurryWurst ($18.50)
Berlin's star pan seared bratwurst topped with curry-tomato dressing and accompanied with fresh onion, fries and mesclun salad. The bratwurst is quite juicy and full of flavours.

Schweinmedallion ($18.90)
Pan grilled sliced pork tenderloin in mushroom cream sauce, served with homemade spatzle and sauerkraut. The meat kind of reminds me of the pork knuckle minus the skin. The meat is quite tender but seems to be lacking of flavours. The spatzle and sauerkraut is quite a pick me up.

Chicken Gordon Bleu ($18.50)
Breaded chicken breast stuffed with smoked ham & cheese, served with mushroom cream sauce & spatzle. Although stuffed with cheese and ham, it does not taste too salty or too cheesy.

Besides the special menu, the usual menu also has quite a number of tasting dishes.

Roasted Pork Knuckle ($18/ half)
Served with sauerkraut, light brown sauce & mashed potato. The meat is quite tender and goes quite well with the brown sauce. But the crispy skin could be a bit too hard for some. The mashed potato is very soft and buttery.

Ambush's Paella ($14.20)
A hot favourite with most is the Spanish paella filled with white clams, mussels, queen scallop, prawns, sliced bacon & sausages. The paella is very well cooked and flavourful. Although the serving looks small, but it is quite filling.

Poulet Roti ($17.20)
Roasted garlic and herb rubbed chicken leg with grainy mustard mash, yellow chanterelle mushrooms, reduced cream sauce & seasonal vegetables. The chicken is very tender and tears easily from bones. The mustard mash is quite strongly flavoured and is not quite agreed with some.

Char Grilled Lamb Saddle Steak (230g, bone-in, middle well) ($22.80)
Pan grilled bone-in lamb saddle loin served with potato puree, mint conserve, seasonal vegetables & balsamic veal jus. Due to the bone in the steak, the chef has the steak cooked in middle well. The steak is quite tender and nicely done, goes quite nicely with the brown sauce. The mint sauce on the other hand is quite strong on its own and could be a bit turn off for some.

If pasta is your dish, zoom in on the Italian section of the menu.

Baby Scallop & Flying Fish Roe - Squid Ink Sauce ($14.80)
This pasta dish is a hot favourite, served with sautéed Japanese baby hotates. The flying fish roe gives the pasta a crunchy texture with popping effect in the mouth. Very tasty.

Crispy Chicken & Seaweed - Aglio Olio Ambush Style ($13.00)
Sautéed onion, garlic, coriander, chilli flake & olive oil is used in flavouring the paste with deep-fried breaded chicken thigh & seaweeds served on top. The pasta is very tasty on it own but could be a bit oily for some.

As for desserts, there is quite a variety too.

Homemade from the finest mascarpone cheese, Italian gourmet coffee and dusted with chocolate powder. It tastes not bad but the mascarpone cheese is a bit faint here.

Chocolate Lava Souffle ($8.80)
Warm & soft cake served with vanilla ice cream & chocolate sauce. Firstly it should not have been called a soufflé as it is too hard to be one. Secondly there is no chocolate lava flowing out of the cake when cut. Overall it is more like a chocolate molten cake, topped with ice cream.

Overall the food here is not bad but does not make much of a lasting impression. But at such a price, it is already quite good. The staffs here are quite friendly and eager to help.

I was privileged to be invited to the OpenRice food tasting event at Ambush. Upon entering, the sight that immediately greeted me was a bright and spacious interior overlooking a sky garden – a warm and inviting ambience to spend an afternoon over good food and company! Ambush serves up a wide array of European cuisine – ranging from Swiss German Wurst, Belgium Moules/Palourde, Spanish Paella, French entree to Italian Pasta – that will definitely satisfy your palate without emptying your wallet.

Ambush serves up a wide array of European cuisine – ranging from Swiss German Wurst, Belgium Moules/Palourde, Spanish Paella, French entree to Italian Pasta – that will definitely satisfy your palate without emptying your wallet. For the reader's info, they are currently running an Oktoberfest promotion featuring interesting fusion creations such as the Curry Wurst and Chicken Gordon Bleu which I found to be quite delectable. Do read on for my reviews of some of the more impressionable dishes which I enjoyed...

Curry Wurst ($16.50++)
The star of this dish was actually the zesty BBQ/curry sauce that accompanied the pan seared Bartwurst. The Bartwurst were crispy on the outside, while tender and juicy on the inside with a hint of tanginess. When dipped into the accompanying sauce, the full flavours of the Bartwurst was instantly released with a zesty and refreshing aftertaste.

Chicken Corden Bleu ($18.50++)
I have always loved Chicken Corden Bleu, with its multiple textures encrusted underneath the crispy breaded layer. The generous amount of cheese oozing out from the tender chicken breast was definitely an inviting sight. The taste and texture of the chicken was just right and blended well with the creamy mushroom sauce and braised red cabbage.

Ambush Paella ($14.20++)
My favourite dish served during the food tasting! Topped with white clams, mussels, scallops, prawns and sliced bacon/sausages, the rice exudes a hint of light buttery fragrance complemented by the natural sweetness of fresh seafood ingredients. Delicious!

Poulet Roti ($17.20++)
A tastefully prepared entree. The chicken leg was very soft, tender and literally melted in your mouth. Special mention goes to the grainy mustard mash potato which added a complementing texture to this dish.

Baby Scallop & Flying Fish Roe - Squid Ink Sauce ($14.80++)
I was initially quite apprehensive to try out this dish after an awful experience with squid ink sauce pasta. However, the taste was pretty acceptable (the squid ink was fresh definitely!). I thought this dish was quite well prepared, well done.

We were treated to an extensive selection of drinks and desserts as well. I ordered the Green Apple Mojito ($5.50++) , one of their signature drinks recommended by the restaurant manager, and found it to be very refreshing and visually appealing!

However, I thought that the desserts were a little anti-climax and paled in comparison to the mains. The Tiramisu ($6.80++) was quite dry with an overpowering layer of chocolate powder that masked the overall taste of the mascarpone cheese and coffee. The Chocolate Lava Souffle ($8.80++) and Molten Chocolate Brownie ($6.80++) were pretty average and lacked the Oomph factor. The Apple Crisp ($6.80++) naturally became the better tasting desserts of the day (though there's still much room for improvement). I felt that they could be more generous with their apple chunks (and less of the apple puree) to improve on the overall texture of this dessert.

Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable luncheon on an idyllic lazy Saturday afternoon.

Thank you Ambush for the scrumptious lunch! I will be back to try out the other offerings in the menu!

I decided to be advantageous & try the Squid Ink pasta with scallop & flying fish roe. I requested for Fusilli but got spaghetti instead. Pasta was done al dente & the scallops are fat & juicy. Flying fish roe adds a little crunchiness to the pasta. Taste quite good, but slightly oily.

**A word of caution.. .. do not eat this on your first date as your mouth & teeth will be stained with the squid ink
