This is one of the more popular stalls here with long queues especially during lunch and dinner. Most people would order their cooked dishes with porridge but i liked rice better.Their dishes tasted homely and nice and they have interesting dishes such as the hainanese pork chop and braised pig skins which are popular items. My favourite would be their home made meat balls which are only available from afternoon onwards,at 3 for $1 if you purchase seperately. They are different from those outside that contains turnips or onions. This one here is a pure ball of well marinated meat which i really enjoyed eating one after another. continue reading

This is a popular stall in this food centre with a constant flow of customers. There is a wide range of dishes for selection at economical prices. The tip is to come here early to avoid the long queue and to have a better selection of dishes. One of the all time favourite dishes has to be the different style of fish dishes. A personal favourite has to be the sweet & sour fish. The sweet & sour taste has got a well-balanced of sweetness and sourness that complemented the fish really well. Another must order dish has to be the lean meat with preserved pickle. This dish has got the right level of saltiness to go well with porridge perfectly. The stir-fried cabbage is a really homely dish. It is a simple dish with just the cabbage and strips of carrot stir-fried together with a bit of glass noodle. They cooked it nicely to derive at the right softness Another dish to recommend is the steamed fishcake. It has got a noticeable freshness and tasted good when eaten with the chilli sauce and the fermented bean sauce provided. Their service is always prompt and friendly. continue reading

Since my dialect group is Teochew, my family and I would often patronize this stall for the affordable teochew porridge. The stall is often distinguishable for its long snaking queue, especially during the weekends mealtimes. Therefore I would strongly recommend to visit the stall early- for dinner time to come by as early as 6pm since by 7plus 8 plus, the selection of food will be very limited given the high popularity. I really like the pork chop and the home-made fish cakes which are the best try! The fish is also freshly steamed though one will have to be patient and wait for quite a while for the fish to be cooked. The price is also very affordable with a budget of around 4 dollars if you were to order the fish and lesser if you do not order that. continue reading

Teochew Porridge is a new found love. There is a pretty good stall in this food centre. We were there on a rainy day. Managed to order after queued up for 15 minutes. We ordered a steamed fish, braised cabbage, fried chai po egg and sliced pork with ginger with 3 bowl of porridge for only $10.40. Such simple dishes are the best to go with plain porridge. The steamed fish is a must order. This stall offers different type of fish dishes. Please do not come on Friday as that is their off day. continue reading
