Robertson Quay area has an extensive choice for brunch session and restaurants to choose from. Anthesis Cafe is one of the addition in the area. It is few shops away from well-knowned cafe,Toby's Estate. Finally paid them a visit on Wednesday night to try on their brunch. However, brunch menu is not available by the time we arrived. Nevertheless, we get the chance to try their dinner menu.Trio Mushroom Spaghetti S$20.00 which serves in an appealing presentation. Trio mushroom combination is ideal for those who are taking vegetarian. It is quite filling with the portion served.Chef did a great job on the food plating for Halibut S$28.00. We were amazed with the presentation when the dish was served. Smooth and soft fish texture with the in-house sauce left us with deep impression. We didn't order drinks as there is free flow plain water. Interesting part here is that the water served with laser-branded tin mugs.No additional charge for the water.Total bill S$48.00 which include 7% GST. I would love to be back to try their brunch continue reading

It's been awhile since.I've been back for some of these blended beans.Still my favourite House Blend for my ever dependable flat white. The food swiftly arrives. The table was filled with omnoms in under 20 minutes.Be still my heart.Take not your flight.Till I have devoured this mythical creature descended from food heaven.Never too much to be shared.Of particular mention to this pretty plating of Eggs Duo.Creamy scrambled eggs and ham and a mushroom frittata with a creamy sauce that I could not get enough of.Mmm.And the one that stole my heart. These huge juicy sea prawns.Just look at them.Huge.Definitely juicy.A bite of these crunchy prawns sends umami juices into one's mouth.Don't bother trying to share half of these, the pleasure must be taken on in full. While you're at it, don't forget the capellini. The paprika powder added just a touch of spice and pretty colour to this dish.My only reservation was an over generous use of olive oil which culminated in an oily mess at the base of this pasta.I heart lazy Sundays. continue reading

Anthesis sells a wide variety of artisan breads, pastries and tarts. I was particularly drawn to this fruit tart when i was there because of the vibrant colours of the various fruits piled on it. There were strawberries, blueberries, raspberry, blackberry and mango. Below the fruits is a crispy sweet crust base with frangipane filling, topped with a thin layer of custard and a little blueberry jam in the middle. I like their choice of fruits used as they are the not-too-sweet fruits that balance out the sweetness of the tart base. The use of fragipane (sweet almond cream) instead of a liberally custard filling also makes the tart less cloying. A cheery-looking tart that is a refreshing and delicious treat after a tiring day. I will be back for more of their treats! =) continue reading
