Good customer service. Although the restuarant is partioned, the service crews will check at the different areas from time to time to provide help. Went during peak hours, however, the queue was quite fast. Food was also served great, sipping hot and in large portion. the environment is comfortable with music and clean seats.

So happen that I was at the Cathay early in the afternoon today with my girlfriend and happened that there are NO QUEUES outside Aston. We quickly made our way into the restaurant since it's such a rare sight!

Service wise was not very pleasant.
Plain water was served after a long delay.
It take approximately 25-30mins before our food are being served after ordering.

We order Grilled Fish w/Cream sauce and teriyaki Chicken. I went green for my side dishes while my girlfriend choosen mashed potato and fries.

The fish was quite average but the teriyaki chicken portion was significantly smaller. taste wise, very normal. Not worth it if I had to queue for 10mins or more.

One thing I've to highlight is the seating arrangement. It was so cramp that we could basically hear what the table beside us are talking about clearly!

Not a very pleasant experience. I think even some Aston express outlet offers better services & experience at a kopitiam setup.

My friend and I visited Aston’s Specialties at The Cathay for dinner on a weekday. I was not surprise to see there was a queue outside of the the restaurant on a weekday as many students and office executives formed majority of the queue since it’s after school and office hours.

We waited in the queue for a while before the waitress gave us a pen and order list to write down what we wanted so that we can be guaranteed a table. I understand the rationale of doing this as the restaurant was fully seated, mad buzzing loudly with lots of chattering and talking.

After twenty minutes of waiting in the queue, we were being shown to our seats and the waiter confirmed our orders. The staffs were very polite and friendly but I felt that the ambient is quite bad, like I’m in a Hong Kong cafe. Maybe it’s because of all the loud talking, laughter and chomping of food. Note to myself, Aston’s is surely not a place for dates or a place for your lover.

As it was the hour of the dinner crowd, the kitchen staff sure took long to prepare the food and to ensure the quality of it before serving to the guests. I waited for about twenty minutes before the food was serve onto our tables. Which is why, I told myself again, this is not a good place for dates and lovers unless you don’t mind all the waiting, noisy and crowded atmosphere.

Ok, let’s come to the food. The Chargrill Chicken set allows me to choose from two hot or cold sides and we had Coleslaw & Onion Rings which was not that bad. The outer layer of the Chargrill Chicken was coated with the slight burn and crisp which I feel it’s quite nice but however, I do find the chicken slightly dry inside it for my liking. The sauce over the slice of chicken maybe a bit too little to give the chicken the additional taste. The coleslaw was good and to my liking as it’s very crunchy and fresh. The sauce used for the coleslaw was just nice and it does taste too overwhelming. The onion rings was cold when it was served so it turned a bit soft.

For the Steak, similarly, we have the options of two hot or cold sides too and we had the Mash potato & French fries. The steak was tough when we asked for medium-rare. I didn’t quite like the tough texture of it although it’s a bit of juiciness in it. Compared to the Steak at Sizzler, I would prefer the ones there as it’s much tender and tastier. The Mash potato was pretty good and it’s comparable to Kenny Rogers. The potato was very smooth and the sauce complimented it very well. For the French Fries, I feel that it’s as good as the ones at McDonald’s.

Overall, it’s relatively reasonable place to dine in as their standard and portion of the food is very reasonable for the price paying for. I will definitely visit Aston’s again if the restaurant isn’t too crowded.
