We tried something else this time round...just to supplement my earlier review...Sausage Platter - there are 3 different sausages in the platter and I liked the darker ones better. The lightest one I think was chicken and found it rather bland. My daughter turned out to be a fan and abandoned her own food to attack mine.Oh well...

My hubby likes Aston so when we heard one opened here near our home, he's quite excited to check it out. We ordered:Beef Bolognese - the Spag is cooked a dente and the sauce is ok. But it's a case of sauce over noodles and tossed over. The taste of the sauce doesn't 'drape' over the noodles so its kinda like the ones you find in food courts/hawker stalls. My hubby likes Aston so when we heard one opened here near our home, he's quite excited to check it out. 

We ordered:
Beef Bolognese - the Spag is cooked a dente and the sauce is ok. But it's a case of sauce over noodles and tossed over. The taste of the sauce doesn't 'drape' over the noodles so its kinda like the ones you find in food courts/hawker stalls. Can skip this one the next time. 

Mushroom Soup - this came first and my 2 piranhas finished it before I could get my spoon in! It's either it's damn good or boy were they hungry. 

New Yoke Strip - essentially a larger piece of sirloin and I had it with coleslaw and potato salad. 

Prime Ribeye Extra Cut - My hub is a fan of meat, beef in particular. Astons for him is good as its value-for-money for a generally ok cut of beef slab with two sides. 

Astons is not certainly not gourmet but a good place for a hearty meal while your kids will love the play area next door more!

Cheap and good western food

If you are really hungry and have a craving for western food, this is the place for you. This is the cheapest western food with a good environment that I have been to. For just $13.90, you can choose 2 different type of chicken chop with different sauce. On top of that, you get to choose 2 side orders from their menu of more than 10 choices. But be warned, only order the double chicken chop only if you are very hungry or you are sharing with someone.

Saw posters of Ashtons Specialties opening a new outlet at the newly renovated Safra Toa Payoh. Some friends recommended it for casual dining, hence decided to go there for dinner. Once I laid steps into the restaurant, it has got a very earthy or woody feel and it is very roomy. We ordered a black pepper chicken, prime sirloin and some drinks. I haven't been to Safra Toa Payoh for a long time. If not for a friend's birthday gathering, i won't know it has gone through a renovation! Not too bad i must say. I wasn't craving for a heavy meal so fish was my best choice! Chose black pepper one to spice up my meal =) For the sides, i can choose two abd i had the mac & cheese + onion rings.It was a good and simple meal. No fuss at all whenever i'm at Astons.

Have been craving for Aston's for a looooongggggg time and randomly decided to Google for the nearest branch of Aston's Specialties hahahah.  Tried their black pepper steak for the first time and it was actually not bad for the price! Got mine medium done, with two sides of garden veggies cos I was feeling healthy that day hahahaha. Thumbs up for the steak includes the fact that it didn't have too much fatty parts which I absolutely hate when I'm eating steak. Was feeling thrifty so I tried this instead of the tenderloin which my friend recommended but no regrets still

 Bf had the fried chicken which is just breaded fried chicken, with sides of pasta salad and wedges. Haha chicken was awesome as usual (i had a tiny bite hehe). Aston's never fails to disappoint
Still remains my favourite relatively lower-end western food place. Which reminds me their new side of mac and cheese is pretty awesome too!! Value for money but they charge for ice water hahahaha.
