Signature Dishes
Authentic Indonesian cuisine cuisines currently were swerved at Serangoon Nex, it was a Halal restaurant. Not sure why they put the name of “President”, customers have to help their own as it was self-service basis. Menu was variable, hard to decide which one to try.Chef recommended item, their signature dish looked tempting. Crisp on skin, the flesh was juicy moist. Cucumber and Tomato served along, the very significant role was the Sambal Chilli. Perfection to be, taste was fantastic. The price was $6.80 without the rice, somewhat expensive. Iced milk tea ordered was normal, not too sweet. Please take note that their last order was at 9PM.

I was at Nex checking out the Mooncake fair and decided to try the food here. This place operates like a typical Indo eatery...place order and pay at the counter first and wait for the food to be delivered to your table. Since it is considered as self-service, there's no GST and service charges on top of food bill.My Ayam Bakar $6.50, consists of a 1/4 grilled chicken, tempeh & beancurd. Add $0.80 for white rice. They gave me chicken breast which I don't like...very dry and hard to swallow. The BBQ sauce drizzled on the chicken and beancurd was good though, sweet and super spicy. Tahu Telor $5.50, deep fried tofu with egg...a traditional Indo dish. This was quite nice but a little oily at the bottom. The peanut sauce was quite nice.Iced Chendol $3.00, this is nice but very very sweet!I think I will try their fish dishes next time...Full review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2013/09/ayam-penyet-president-mooncake-fair-nex.html

We ordered the ayam penyet, grilled chicken and tauhu telor to share. the portion was quite small and the chicken was dry. The tauhu telor was good though, the peanut sauce was flavourful and went well with the beancurd. There was also free flow of soup which tasted quite good. It costs about $10 per person which I think was pricey as the portion was small. Overall I think it is just average.

I tried the ayam penyet and it was nice. The set is $6.50. Got to order the white rice for $1.00. The fried chicken breast was crispy but a bit oily. The meat was tender and soft. The chicken served with raw cabbage and long bean. The chilli was a bit sweet but very spicy. The meal was filling and worth it. I will come back to try other dishes. The overall standard is good.
