So my friend and I decided to try Becasses' High-Tea set because it seemed to have a little bit of everything that we wanted to try. Here's pretty much what you get, the twin towers with a sky bridge. With a plateau of different desserts. The Macarons were pretty nice, the others were okay. They didn't leave a very deep impression on me .This was like a little marshamallow with the top burnt. It tasted pretty sweet and I could finish it off.The croissants were flaky and I liked the lemon Meringue

The croissants were flaky and I liked the lemon Meringue tart alot. Even though I remember it being a bit sweeter than most that I had tried. I ate BOTH! lol. Greedy Me.

We paid about $50++ per person. It wasa good high tea snack to hang out and chat. Both the tower and the plate with the croissants came at different timings and the chef came out to check how we were doing.

All in all, a quiet place to hang out and chat with your friends. Do bring an empty stomach along!

Bécasse origins from Australia and is well known for its French-inspired European fare. It has 2 outlets in Singapore, one in Orchard ION and another in Dempsey Hill.Tonight we are visiting the restaurant at Dempsey Hill for its Restaurant Week Dinner which costs $35++ per person for a 3 course meal. I have made reservation long ago and the restaurant has made the effort to give me a remind call the day before. The place is far away from the main road, and one has to walk quite a bit to find it.

It is located in the middle of block 10, a block which is just next to the fountain. The restaurant is decorated in tones of black and white. Despite been a Sunday evening, only 3 tables are occupied in whole restaurant. The main dining area has comfortable sofa bench by the wall and very high ceiling too.

The room is brighten by the big open-concepted kitchen, where one can see the various staffs at work. There is also a delicious display of bread on the shelf, as well as, a display of yummy looking mini cakes on the counter. At the back of the room, is a grand looking drink counter.

We are shown to the only table in the main dining room by the window, with the restaurant week and drink menus been served to us. It is a bit dim as the lights are mostly in the centre of the room. Another thing about the room is that it is a bit warm, although there is not many diners around. Been not a very chocolate person, I have asked for a change in dessert, but is rejected by the staff with an answer that the dessert is a very good choice.

After placing our orders, we are served a slice of complimentary bread each with salted butter in a metal basket. I am a bit disappointed as the bread is cold to touch. But the bread is quite soft and fluffy.

Salmon

Beetroot cured Norwegian salmon with compressed Japanese cucummber, olive & dill aioli
The salmon looks an unusual red in color, and tastes less oily than usual. The aioli is quite light and goes quite well with the salmon.

Artichoke

Cappuccino of artichoke with truffles foam & porcini powder
The soup is served pipping hot. It tastes quite rich and creamy.

Challans duck breast

Roasted duck breast on braised Puy lentil, glazed medly of vegetable & pink peppercorn jus
The duck breast is quite interesting as it looks like grilled beef cubes at first look and has a texture like beef steak when slicing through. There is no gamey taste in the meat.

Red snapper

Pan fried red snapper with potato and leek "risotto", pencil asparagus & yuzu oil
The red snapper is quite juicy and meaty. The potato and leek "risotto" is quite interesting as one cannot taste the leek. It is like a warm potato salad.

Chocolate & pistachio souffle

I am a bit disappointed with the souffle as it sinks a bit after been served on the table. The pipping hot souffle with chocolate sauce in the center is heavenly thick and sinful. It does not taste too sweet. The white pistachio cream under the chocolate sauce is a bit too little to taste of. It is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with chopped pistachio nuts.

Overall the service is quite good. Plain water is refilled regularly. The staff often asks about the food. Food is served quite fast. But the place has a quite relaxing feeling. However the place seems to be suffering from a lacking of business. There is no other customers after us. The restaurant is empty after we left around 8.30pm, whereas we could see nearby restaurants bursting with customers, while walking down the street. Maybe it could due to the fact that the restaurant is still quite unknown in Singapore.

Becasse is a high-end artisan bakery and European restaurant nestled in the heart of Dempsey Hill, and is under the subsidiary of none other than Jones The Grocer.  The entire setting was simply gorgeous - vintage, French, classy - with the whole black-and-white, tiled themes. We had the High Tea set - the items were delicately set on top of the black blocks, resting ever so delicately flaunting its display of pastries proudly. The service crew explained each item on the long glass plank to us briefly. There were 5 sweet items and 3 savoury ones along with a pot of tea for just SGD$20.00.

One of the items was a tiny pot of creamy Pot of Hazelnut Cappuccino - it was like a coffee cream dream - smooth, velvety rich, resplendent strongly of cappuccino's aroma and flavor. It was like eating a thick cup of solid cappucino, complete with froth and rich cocoa shavings. I loved this.

Next, I tried the Prawn Salad on Lettuce - delicious, succulent and juicy in texture and flavor. This was my favorite savoury item on the entire Hightea platter. My only complaint was that it could have been bigger, lol.

We also shared their signature Salted Caramel Macaron Milkshake (SGD$8.00) - simply because it looks so inviting and pretty from all the photos I have glimpsed. It left us a little downcast because the only "salted" parts were probably the cheese popcorn tossed in, as well as the blue macaron as seen. The milkshake itself was very milky / vanilla in flavor; we were glad we shared one instead of ordering one each.

Have a really good time in this café at Dempsey Road, service was great and friendly. The café environment is spacious and very peaceful and quiet, which really suits me as I hate noisy places. The biscuit crust is very light and crispy too. The cappuccino is fragrant and not too sweet, great to go along with the macarons. For less than $

For less than $18 to enjoy these lovely snacks here, really worth the price.
