The famous Bedok chwee kueh is one of my favourite chwee kueh place. For just $1 for 4 pieces, it's a really cheap meal. The chye poh (salted radish) given atop the soft steamed rice cakes is rather generous and enough to accompany the rice cakes. It is chopped finely and fragrant with white sesame seeds within. A simple dish that still requires expertise to bring together the flavors. They do not have plates for serving the chwee kueh if you are having them straightaway - it's still served on the wax paper. The serving lady will scrunch up the paper nicely for you so that you can still carry it back relatively safely back to your seat. continue reading

My regular choice for light breakfast. This is a good replacement for toasts as breakfast. I usually get my shui kueh from this stall. My regular order is 4 pieces for $1.00. It came with enough preserved radish to go with all the shui kuehs. The shui kuehs are steamed nicely to give it a soft and moist texture. The preserved radish has got a nice fragrant and at the right level of saltiness to complement the shui kuehs. continue reading

Shui Kueh is one of my favourite snacks. And, this is my regular stall for Shui Kueh.I have been patronizing this stall for close to 6 years, and still loving it. One of the Aunties recognized me as one of their regulars, and she always topped my shui kueh with extra chye poh (preserved radish) and extra chilli too.The chye poh here is my personal favourite. Well fried and full of fragrance with a well balanced of saltiness, nice looking color too. Maybe it is just me, i dislike those pale looking chye poh. The dried shrimp based sambal is pretty good too. continue reading
