The Bee Garden is a very nicely place featuring many kinds of awesome desserts. I particularly love their mango pomelo dessert! The mango is so smooth and silky and sweet and its natural sweetness is enough to bring taste to the dessert. The pomelo is slightly bitter, but it does help to bring an additional level of taste (bitterness) to the sweet dessert. Very nice mix!

I didn't notice that this stall is actually one of the stalls that got revived in Channel 8's Buzzing Cashier. I only knew about it when I was looking at the photos and some of the other reviews online that I know that the owner of this stall actually went through so much. It's no wonder even an ordinary bowl of cold Cheng Tng taste so wonderfully nice. It was actually their signature dish along with some new dishes that was added to the menu after the tv show. The fragrance of the soup can be smell even before I put the spoon into my mouth. Later, learnt that 3 different types of dates were used to make the soup. Thumbs up for this cold dessert on a super hot day.

A featured winner in Mediacorp's programme, Buzzing Cashier 2 (抢摊大行动2) this stall gets some of its dessert recipes from Chef Eric Teo, one of the renowned chefs from one of the top hotels in Singapore. I enjoy the sweet mango and mango puree with fresh tasting pomelo together with shaved ice very much. It tasted much nicer than some of those dessert shops. A must try definitely.Another strongly recommended dessert is Fresh Durian Penget. Both desserts are selling at $2.50, one of the cheapest and value for money desserts around. Try it to believe it. Do give it a try if you happen to be in the vicinity.

If you've watched the Mediacorp Channel U reality tv game show "Buzzing Cashiers" (抢滩大行动), you'll most likely recognise the owners of Bee Garden. From what I understand, they were the winners of one of the season of the show! At least that was what propelled my mom to check out the stall. But unfortunately they only open in the afternoon and she finally got her wish after 3 tries! 3rd time lucky! So remember not to go too early! This stall is not new at the Commonwealth Crescent Market. They were around even when the stall was still at the old market, prior to its upgrading. The family business has gone through quite a tough patch but the mother and son team can be cranky but they do make fantastic dessert! My personal favourite is also their best selling dessert - its ice mango pomelo dessert! The pomelo is fresh and each one burst its juice with every bite. The mango too is sweet and a perfect contrast with the slightly sour bites of pomelo. My mom also didn't resist trying the durian penyet! But they are definitely better eaten on the spot as the shaved ice are smooth and soft and wouldn't survive well with travelling or refreezing. We also tried the ice bo bo char char which uses melted gula melaka dressing on the ice shaving. The dessert of yam and sweet potato is usually eaten hot but the hubby does love this cold as well! They are one of the few place I've seen that offers this. And you bet, it's yummy!Did I mention that the hot desserts are under $1?! Definitely cheap and value for money too!
