The noodle together with wantons determined a good wanton noodle. As for this stall, the noodle tasted very normal and the wantons also not very impressive. The char siew is also average. The stall owner is friendly and smiling. That is the only plus point. I think those clippings disaplayed can be quite misleading as the quality could not matched the standard. Maybe it happened to be their off day so the standard is not very good I do not know. continue reading

I ordered with an expectation but ended feeling disappointed. The portion was okay but the noodle tasted average with very thin slices of char siew and some fried wanton and wantons in the soup. It is not really that bad but not very good either. I will not try again if i have better option. continue reading

This stall caught our attention when we were there for the famous handmade noodle. We decided to try it as we placed our confidence on those few media clippings on display right at their stall. Upon ordering, i was asked whether to have the $2.50 or the $3.00 portion. I decided to go with the smaller portion. I usually do so when trying something new. Though it was lunch time but the stall seemed to be rather quiet. It was served to our table by the nice Uncle in a short while. The portion was rather good for $2.50. A reasonable portion of mee kia was served along with a few slices of char siew, veggies, 2 pieces of fried wanton and another 2 pieces of wanton in the soup. Taste wise, it tasted rather average for the mee and the wantons. The texture of Mee Kia was rather springy with the usual sauce mix. I suppose it should not been too bad if no prior expectation. I am rather definite that this is going to be another one time off experience as there are better options for wanton mee out there. continue reading

I stayed in Whampoa area about 12 years ago. During those period, I often ate at this Makan Place. This place underwent a major renovation not to long ago. It used to be old and a little dirty but now it is bright, spacious and clean. I used to like the Prawn noodle here but I thought I would try something else today. I walked around and saw this stall selling Wanton/Prawn dumpling noodle. And their specialty was this 'green noodle' made with spinach added. They have two types of Wanton/Dumpling, fried or boiled. I asked for the fried dumpling green noodle. The seller was very friendly, he asked where I was sitting and said that he would bring the noodle to me. The noodle was very Q, but a bit too little. The skin of the dumpling was crispy, the filling's full, quite an amount of pork but didn't have the distinguish smell of it. Good proportion of vegetable. Pretty delicious.Normal noodle cost $3 per bowl but green noodle cost $3.30 per bowl. continue reading
