Whenever I go Bengawan Solo I will tend to be over buying cos everything so nice till I cannot resists! This time round I am in SGH and they sell savoury stuffs like curry puff, chicken pie and tuna puff. I simply love their chicken pie so I bought that and some cakes and kueh. Chicken pie is $1.50 each and I love the pie cos the crust really crispy even when leave it overnight not too dry and can taste chuncks of chicken inside thumbs up for it. As I far as I know only SGH brunch sell this ..... so is definately a love and hate place to go!Read More

The FoodI love kueh so much and Bengawan solo is one of my favorite place to go to satisfy my kueh cravings. This is one of my favorite kuehs among all the other kuehs they sell. Bengawan solo actually sells many different types of kueh. It was yummy, eating them one layer at a time. It was addictive. The PriceThe price of this kueh was so reasonable. At around one dollar per piece. Read More

I recently visited Bengwan Solo since it was my tea time & picked up a snack -Kueh Dadar. It costs just 1.10 $. Its a sweet pancake roll with a coconut filling. The pancake is green in colour. It is a typical pancake & the filling is coconut, sugar & jaggery i guess. Its a bit oily, but OK. It is a big roll & quite filling. I was glad to see these local sweets at Bengawan Solo that is more into Cakes & pastries.Read More

Although the cake was simple, I like it very much. (Sometimes simplicity can be the best!) Thepandan and kaya combination went rather well together, emerging as one unique taste. They were like 2 ores, alloyingtogether to form a stronger material. (I must have played too much games in the past) Another thumbs up was becauseof the alternating layers of sponge and pudding-like kaya, it did not contain any cream! (Do not count the decorationson its surface; I did not like cream.) Mum loves coffee and I have already guessed beforehand that she would order the coffee cake. Coffee sponge withcoffee flavoured cream. Everything about it was just coffee. I still preferred my pandan kaya cake!Read More

I had bought this chocolate cake for my tea time snack with my fellow colleagues. The cake texture is quite soft and moist but I could not really taste the fragrant from the chocolate used in making it. The thinly slices of almond also does not give much impact or better taste to this sponge cake as well. I suppose this is one of the items which I do not really like or appreciate from bengawan solo. Moreover, it is also quite expensive too. Read More

Bought this egg tart for my teabreak when i was at SGH.Their egg tart size and shape is different from what we normally see. Their egg tart is in long oval shape which made me feel that their egg tart is bigger and of course more value for money.Taste wise, its delicious and of good standard, The 'egg custart' portion is fresh, soft and is sweeter that the normal egg tarts. I do like their egg tarts, but it would be better if it is less sweet.Read More

This is the first time i tried savoury snack from bengawan solo. Normally i will go for their kuens and cakes. As I was not feeling full after the bowl of laksa at Kaffe & toast, so decided to get some snacks from bengawan solo just nearby.Decided to try their curry puff. The curry puff is quite nice but the size and filling is a bit small and little, it is quite hollow (not much fillings) on the inside of the puff. Well, I think i will prefer curry puff from polar or old chang kee instead which is tastier and more value for money which is around the same cost but much more fillings and bigger size. Read More
