As a child, I always love eating jiu cheng gao (nine layer cake) as it has many colours and the best thing is that I can peel it off layer by layer. I find it fascinating as a child and now I still eat it, just to relieve the memories and also the great taste. Although what I eat as a child is those bought from the market, Bengawan Solo's ''Lapis Sagu" is reminiscent of that taste. I taste a stronger hint of coconut milk in its many layers where the hint of coconut fragrance can be detected once you bite into it. Overall, a great snack to have for tea breaks! continue reading
