Introduction
A household name in Singapore, Bengawan Solo is synonymous with traditional cakes and kueh made using the highest quality ingredients and time-honoured methods of preparation. Special occasions are not the same without Bengawan Solo’s signature treats such as Kueh Lapis Sagu (rainbow layer cake), Ondeh Ondeh (coconut-coated glutinous rice balls filled with molten palm sugar), Kueh Lapis (spiced layer cake), and butter cakes and cookies. Knowing travellers often buy a box of these delectable cakes to enjoy on their plane journeys, or as tasty gifts for friends back home.

Signature Dishes
The Pandan Chiffon cake has always been a very popular item in Bengawan Solo, and many of my overseas friends love the pandan chiffon so much that they buy them back to their country in bulk! The pandan chiffon is proven to be nice, thus its popularity. So, the poor Orange Chiffon has to live under its shadow. I, too, am guilty of undermining the orange chiffon. It was only when the pandon chiffon was sold out that I got the orange chiffon instead. But, it proved to be as nice as the pandon chiffon too! It is light and refreshing with a fragrant orange taste, and the chiffon cake is as soft and fluffy! Now, I like both the pandan and orange chiffon cake, though I still prefer the pandon chiffon slightly more!

Whenever I feel like having chiffon cakes for my breakfast, I will definitely buy the pandan chiffon cake from Bengawan Solo. Even though the price is quite high, but I would never mind to pay abit more for it's quality cake. The pandan flavour in it is quite fragrant and the cake texture is quite moist and very soft as well. Great to have it with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

Really enjoy this savoury item from Bengawan Solo as the glutinuous rice in it is very fragrant and the sambal prawn inside is very tasty and quite spicy and sweet as well. Great to have it during lunch, gatherings, parties or even during special occasions. At merely one dollar and twenty cents each, I think is priced reasonable as well. But do note this item may not be always available in this outlet and do call them for reservation before you go down to buy.

Bengawan solo has a variety of kueh that looks and tastes very good and so i bought the Kueh Salat and two Lapis Sagu. My favourite would be the lapis sagu because the kueh itself looks so tempting already with 9 layers of colours. I usually peel off layer by layer and eat it by that way. The kueh salat and lapis sagu are both $0.90 each. I did not manage to try the kueh salat as I gave it to my mother but according to her it was great too.
