*Priscillia had the Salmon and Mushroom Pasta in Cream Soup (SGD$12.80), a large bowl of cream soup with lots of salmon and shitake mushrooms with spaghetti. This deceptively simple name and appearance concealed a rich taste that was addictive, especially whilst the noodle was still piping hot. The soup was sweet with flavours of its robust ingredients, and the noodles were springy.

I was in a seafood mood that night, so I settled for the Seafood Soup Spaghetti (SGD$14.80) which was a huge bowl of clear broth filled with spaghetti, clams, squids, shrimps and seaweed. The soup was delicious as well, with the sweet infusion of seafood and miso; the noodles were springy and seafood was rather fresh. It made for a simple but satisfying meal.

added cheese and was greatly disappointed. this just look like kraft cheese was placed on top of it.. really salty, plain and dry.

the beef was so much better, it was tender and slighty juicy.. would prefer that it had much more gravy though.

the egg pasta wasn't as satisfying as it looked in the picture of the menu, but it was so much better than the cheese pasta.

i didn't like that the restaurant is open-concept and i felt like there was no privacy... also the food was bad, service wasn't too good, don't know what we are actually paying for.

The dish was generously topped with melted cheese, hidden Salmon was flavourful. Fluffy rice at the bottom, the bowl was starchy delicious. Strong buttery aromatic, the surface was slightly burnt. The more sinful mixture the better taste, it was fattening actually but who cares. Price at $11.80, the portion was satisfying without greasy feeling. I felt comfortable to dine here, probably will revisit it again next round.

Have ordered their Hamburger Steak with Cheese as well as Teriyaki Chicken Combo. The dishes came promptly soon after ordering yet they were also served hot, says a lot about their efficiency in whipping up these dishes. The presentation were also very true to the plastic displays they have and that's probably one of the few reasons why I love Japanese food, they always take presentation very seriously. The food tasted great and the portion were generous enough to fill us up.

The Challenger that we had eaten is of a smaller version as compare with the menu photos.
The ice-cream being used here is not of a good quality ones and there are a lot of cerals at the bottom of the glass with quite a lot of cream being used here. I guess, the only good points about the dessert is that the design is very nice and there are nice fruits being places on top of the ice-cream.

This is one big big dessert (To be eaten by one person) though it is about the same as the challenger with lots of cereal at the bottom and some fruits on top (Additional pudding on this dessert). Other than that, the ice-cream is not of a good quality type and nothing special about the dessert. We took quite a while to finished our ice-cream and had a great chat together.

Great for cheese lovers as french fries size potato are being covered with nice mentai sauce and cheese on a hot plate which can keep the dish hot and nice. Very sinful but superb nice.

Delicious gravy based on the chef secret recipe, I like this kind of thickly sauce. Fish was fresh, rice was hidden under pan-cooked egg. Curry played its part to give wonderful taste for all and moistened the rice. Worthy $13.80, it came with a soup, drinks and dessert.

Mushroom Soup & Garlic Bread
The mushroom soup tasted like store-bought mushroom soup with the exception of the sprinkling of parsley herbs at the top. But I profess a secret love for store-bought mushroom soups... though I do prefer to taste the real chunks of mushrooms. The garlic bread was burnt to a crisp at the edges, which screams cancer-causing but at least it is still evenly buttered.

Tomato & Prawn in Tomato Cream Sauce - $13.80 for the set meal
The pasta was cooked al dente and springy, which was good. The tomato cream sauce was teetering on the brink of being too sour - they needed a good dosage of sugar to balance the tomato's sourness. The sauce was also a little too diluted. What they could have done was to blend the tomato a bit more so that the sauce will be thicker. It tasted almost home-made - not exactly a compliment because I was referring to home-made by myself. They were generous with the prawns though, which were sweet and not too artificially springy.

Bacon & Mushroom in Garlic Sauce - $12.80 for the set meal
I pinched a small mouthful and agreed with Averie that the pasta was too bland. It was only slightly salted and there was no hint of garlic sauce at all. The bacon had more fats than real meat, which was quite a pity.

Mini Green Tea Ice-Cream
I was quite pleasantly surprised that the dessert was much more elaborate than expected. From the description on the menu, I would have thought that the dessert would come in a mini bowl with a scoop of ice-cream. Instead, the green tea ice-cream was balanced atop another scoop of vanilla ice-cream, garnished with some red beans and a slice of peach. The green tea ice-cream was rich and strong in its matcha taste, though the peach was a little sour. The red beans were sweet and not sandy in texture. I don't like red beans but this was surprisingly great.

Mini Strawberry Ice-Cream
Averie's choice of dessert

The service is generally quite laidback but maintains their minimal level of professionalism. Overall verdict of this place: The mains are really quite not up-to-standard even for regular pastas, but considering the amount of food you are getting for the price, I guess if you're not too picky it's fine. Their desserts look promising though.

Nice and cosy environment with great tasty food. We order matcha ice cream, Chocolate Banana ice cream and Potato Mentai. Matcha ice cream taste very nice and smooth. Not like those matcha ice cream that i taste before. Chocolate banana taste rich and creamy. Potato Mentai was one of my favorite. They are generous with their cheese. If they used fresh potato instead of fries will be better.

Nice food! The fries taste normal and there is nothing really special about the chicken. Maybe i shall try their curry rice set next time instead!

After my main course, here come my dessert! There is a saying that no matter how full a person is, there is always roof for dessert! Well, this is true. I ordered this choco syu ice parfait from benten cafe too. It is so awesome. Initially, i though other than the chocolate ice cream on top, the whole cu was filled with whipped cream. However, i was wrong, it was filled with vanilla ice cream instead. the only thing i disliked is their fruits. The strawberries and peach was so sosour. I guess they used canned fruits instead. But the ice cream was nice overall! the totally price costs $8.00 exactly including GST and service charges.

lastly, maybe because it was a holiday the kitchen served the food very slowly.

The Seafood Curry Baked Rice has squid and prawns in it and is being cooked with rice and japanese curry covered with a layer of cheese that covered the whole of the dish. The Japanese curry was pretty fragrant too.

The Bacon and Mushroom Pasta with Garlic Sauce was nice as the garlic flavour was being absorbed in the pasta and the bacon was rather chewy.

The clam and cod roe sphagetti at $14.80. It comes with a big chunk of roe on top of bowl and it is very salty to eat that alone. I do not know the correct way of eating this dish but I find this dish quite cumbersome and irritating in terms of dinning. Since I cannot eat just the roe, i stirred it into the soup and I cant enjoy much as the roes are just too fine. And All I had was fork and spoon with a dish in a bowl. There were lots of calms in it and quite hard to "de shell" the calms with limited utensils. Moreover the sphagetti is too slipper and shorter than the normal mee. it makes it very difficult for me.

Benten combo at $13.80 comes with a small piece of chicken chop, beef burger patty and a sausage. Sides will be brocoli, corn and fries. Teriyaki chicken is slightly overcooked. Marinate did not absorb into the meat. Burger steak was quite ok. Beef patty was quite fresh and chewy. Curry sauce was not that fantastic. Nothing Special. The cheese sausage is something you can buy off from any supermarket. Given the overall food, it should not have been served on a hotplate. Given that the food was cooked beforehand, it will be hard to keep the meat from overcooking. Its just average rating.

Ambience
Open air dining, you can see alot of shoppers walking pass. Not much privacy.

Price
