Introduction
Blackball was drawn from the idea of 'Xian Cao' being black in colour and taro 'balls'. 'Xian Cao' is a key inclusion in most traditional desserts across Taiwan. The company was founded and created by Mr. Tang in 2006 and is now one of the biggest dessert chains in Taipei with more than 20 outlets. It has also expanded to Malaysia and Singapore. continue reading

The blackball dessert is quite different where it has a mix of grass jelly, pearls, yam, tapioca and sweet potato ball and red beans. This combination was really nice. The fen yuan for yam have two types but I like the one with actual yam inside. continue reading

I like Saturday afternoon, totally relaxing day without worries of work for the next day. In other words, it was also a sinful day to enjoy food. After a proper lunch, we were heading to have our second round. Black Ball which originated by Taiwan was our target, especially the hot weather here. Very famous among students, most of the patrons were youngsters when we joined the queue. Choices were quite flexible, available from icy, cold warm and hot. Best seller of the shop, the Fresh Milk with Grass Jelly (In Cup) was a making of premium drink which had authentic “Xian Cao” fragrance. Low calories choice, the milk was good tasted ever. Crushed of balls came along with a plentiful of toppings, it was colourful and attractive. Dedicated with smooth texture, the mixture was silky chewy in general. Five of us shared four serving of dessert, we had our chilling enjoyment at Black Ball. continue reading

This is my first time trying blackball and i gotta say it is very nice and value for money. We paid around SGD $5.50 for this bowl of heaven and i shared it with my friend. ( around $2.30 each only!) The pearl are chewy and sweet, yam cubes and sweet potato are fresh too. i love the milk and the overall taste is really good with all the toppings. you can choose different toppings to fit your personal choice. it doesnt have fixed sets. Overall, i will definitely return for this continue reading

Been dying to try Blackball ever since it opened its doors! Never really got a chance up till recently because the previous times were either lined with super long queues or having their signature sold out. So I finally got a chance to try it out on a rainy evening at Star Vista, there's still customers but my buddy and I managed to get a table. There's only 3 tables inside and 1 table outside which is relatively small but it doesn't matter because people can always takeaway! Then I've got my queue number for which my order was ready in less than a minute. The Blackball Signature ($5.40) is their best selling star item and it can be ordered in 4 different ways - hot, warm, cold or icy. The no.1 grass jelly dessert from Taiwan consists of interesting ingredients like yamQ, golden sweet potato, yam balls, sweet potato balls, red beans and pearls. I love all of them equally! Milk was given as an optional thing to add, it didn't affect much of the overall taste so it probably doesn't matter much. But it's good for pictures. The dessert is not too sweet and the blend of distinctive different textures of each ingredient helps to set the art of how asian desserts should really taste like. Overall, Blackball did a great job satisfying my desserts craving and I do look forward to my future visits! Hopefully they'll have open up more outlets in the North too! continue reading
