Came at roughly 3.30pm, ordered the medium $8.80 pork rib prawn noodle, no more kway teow, not a fan of yellow noodle, chose the beehoon. As usual no chilli no ketchup, dry (normally if you order soup, more or less they dilute the soup due to insufficient of prawn broth), headed to the toilet at the back, then ordered some ngor hiang at the same store, and while looking for a good place to seat (quite empty cause of the weird timing) my noodle was ready !A lot of seats are occupied not by people, but by prawn shells and bones that previous customer left behind, that leave a impression that they are quite reluctant, maybe nearing closing hours (4.30pm). Prawn was as stated jumbo, and a few chucks of pork ribs, noodle was full of fried onion bits and oil, yummy Main point of a good prawn noodle, strong powerful prawn broth.... Total disappointment, soup was bland and have this taste of soaked yellow noodle taste, probably use the same soup to cook yellow noodle... As told by my father, small prawn normally is "sweeter" than bigger prawns, maybe thats why the soup is lacking.Noodle was quite good from the combination of the fried onion oil and a few spoon of bland soup. I saw they also have some special looking chilli sauce, will leave that to next time. Conclusion: If you are looking to chew on jumbo prawn and pork ribs, or some decent noodle, can head over here. But if you are looking for strong & powerful broth, this probably isn't the place you're looking for. continue reading

Supposedly we should have the famous roti prata along the stretch of shophouses at Jalan Kayu but since the majority wanted prawn noodles, I shall come again next round for the prata which is actually just beside the prawn noodles shop.It was crowded at 12 noon and everyone are heading here for their lunch. We manage to grab seats for 3 of us and settled with our food. Just beside the stall is another stall selling Wu Xiang Guan Chang. Saw most of the tables ordering it but we skip that. Ordered Pork Ribs Prawn Noodles and Jumbo Prawn Noodles. The price is at $4.50 each. Pork Ribs Prawn NoodlesThe pork ribs are small pieces and nothing to 'wow' about. Because of what it is named, the prawns given is basically one but they slice it in to half to let it look like two. The soup is tasty and little sweetness from it. I believe they have boiled for hours with lots of ingredients. Jumbo Prawn NoodlesNot exactly jumbo. Just the same prawns like the above mentioned but a total of 2 prawns, slice into half and looks like you are having 4 of them. We had yellow mee and beehoon. Surprisingly, their beehoon is not the usual ones that we had. It is much thicker and nicer. I think I had been eating the usual beehoon too much that I'm bored about it. This beehoon they use here is a new thing to me and I like it a lot. Will come back again for their prawn noodles together with some Wu Xiang Guan Chang. continue reading

Came for lunch here. This shop is nearer to home so very convenient. I ordered the $5.00 prawns noodle soup. It got only a few halved prawns with noodle in tasty prawn soup. The noodle was enough for me. The prawns tasted quite fresh and sweet. The soup got a sweet prawn taste too. The standard is good and the service is warm by those aunties. I will come back to try their noodle with pork ribs next time. continue reading

The FoodI ordered the pork rib prawn mee served with 4 pieces of pork ribs and 3 pieces of halved prawns. After having my first mouthful of the thick and mouthwatering soup, which was concentrated with the flavours of prawns and pork ribs and also complemented the noodles so well. The halved prawns are very fresh and sweet and the pork ribs are fleshy and tasty. The PriceReasonably priced at $5 for decent portionOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

The shop is located along in one of those pre-war shop houses along the quiet Jalan Kayu. The location is a little inconvenient as there are only 3 buses (No 85, 86 and 103) going there. I was there at about 12.30 pm for lunch. There were only a few tables occupied then. I was expected to make an order at their counter then paid before proceeding to my table to wait for my food. I ordered a bowl of soup noodle with medium sized prawns for $5.50 together with lime juice for $1.50. I gotten my order in less than 5 minutes delivered by a friendly Auntie. The portion of yellow noodle was just right with a few pieces of fresh tasting halved prawns and bean sprouts in soup. The soup base has got a distinct taste of prawn and slightly sweet tasting. It was simple but satisfactory. The lime juice was a good selection. It has got a balance of sweet and sour taste with just enough ice cubes to keep it cold. This is a good place for a quiet lunch. continue reading
