This is one of the two most famous chicken rice as recommended by tour guide but it turned out to be just pass.I came here alone and so, I could only order a chicken rice. They've give me chicken breast. Chicken is just so so. Not tender enough. On the other hand, I quite like the rice as it's ginger rice. With one barley drink, it costs me around S$10 for the lunch. Given this price, I could only give it a pass. If one don't mind about the environment, I'd definitely recommend the other restaurant inside hawker centre. continue reading

Boon Tong Kee is always one of my favorite restaurant. Maybe because of its tasty food, maybe because of its fare price or maybe because of its Cantonese style. My boyfriend and I ordered a half chicken and was finished by two of us. The chicken is juicy and tender as usual. We also ordered a plate of some vegetables that I forgot the name. Tasty too. Our favorite dish of the day is the crispy tofu. It is so crispy and suits perfectly with the salad sauce. We are just going to keep coming back. continue reading

The FoodI ordered half White Chicken and was served with preserved vegetables and cucumbers, lightly drizzled with soy sauce. The cuts were big and the skin is smooth and soft. The meat was soft and tender and had a different kind of texture compared to other stalls. The rice was very well cooked, not oily and very flavourful. Goes very well with chicken and chilli. The PriceReasonably priced at $11 for the half chicken and $0.50 for the rice eachOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

FoodYammilicious! It had been years since I patronised Boon Tong Kee. Famous for their chicken rice, I bet it will be a very wise choice to bring our European guests to try out something chinese. For my past visits, I always went to the branch located in Balestier and this was my first time in East Coast Road. Although the shop space is not as big, the standard of food is still as impressive. The pickles are very appetizing while we are waiting and chatting for our ordered food. Wet towels offered by Boon Tong Kee with their name printed on it.Well designed pair of chopsticks with the shop's name in it.Spinach with 3 kinds of eggs(century, salted and normal egg) is good. Not too salty and taste is just there. Delicious!Wanted to let our guest to have a taste of crab, we had ordered the crab meat tofu. Tofu is soft , having gluely crab meat covered all over the tofu. This is the signature dish of Boon Tong Kee. It's standard has been maintained over so many years that attracts our overseas actors and actresses from all around the world. Together with the fragrance chicken rice, it's simply divine. Skin of the chicken is so smooth and the meat is so juicy.....yammy. The black pepper deer meat is also another "new" dish introduced to our European guest. The black pepper taste is not that strong as I have thought and I like it. Meat are not too hard.ServiceService is ok. They take orders fast and food served are fast too. Our european guest is rather amazed by the speed of delivery by Boon Tong Kee. AmbienceThe restaurant are filled Square tables and stools (without backrest). It would be better if chairs can be more comfy.PriceAffordable pricing consider that the food is good.Recommendation / TipsOrder the chicken. continue reading

Apart from the smooth, tender and juicy chicken, it is Boon Tong Kee's flavourful chicken rice that has keep us going back for more. We would usually also order a few dishes to go along with the chicken and the servers are generally very friendly and helpful. Really love their chicken meat its really tender and juicy. The rice is also very fragrant. Highly recommended. continue reading
