The most distinct feature of Brunches, however, is the vintage decor that it is decked out in. The place also has plenty of quirky, vintage items that are for sale, albeit at slightly premium prices. The cafe also does its own bakes, displayed in the glass case near the cashier. Cupcakes in flavours like Earl Grey start from $3.50 onwards, while a piece of cream cake such as the raspberry cream cake and buttery apple crumble goes at $5.50. Pretty standard cafe prices.Prices shown on the menu do not include 10% plus 7%, unlike most other cafes in Singapore, where prices either already include the charges inside already or are waived. So I got a little shocked when my Flat White escalated from $4.50 to $5.7.Flat White ($5.70)Their coffee is on the acidic side, so it isn't for those who like a balanced cup. Otherwise, a pretty decent cup.Baked Eggs and BaconBaked Eggs and Bacon ($13.90)The baked eggs and bacon set ($13.90) featured a piece of sourdough toast (your choice of white/wholemeal/sourdough) with 2 baked eggs wrapped in bacon, accompanied by sauteed mushrooms and a salad. We hardly find cafes who do their own breads nowadays, so the effort should be commended. However, it was a pity as the sourdough was a little too chewy for my liking and lacking in any aroma. The rest on the plate were not bad, my favourite being the sauteed mushrooms. The semi-cooked runny yolks in the baked eggs flowed nicely too. This is one cafe worth a visit for the fun retro-themed interiors, especially in groups, though the food isn't top notch. The laidback setting in somewhat sleepy Rangoon Road also makes it pretty ideal to settle down with a book and just watch the afternoon go by.Full review on http://herpenandfork.blogspot.sg/2015/07/brunches-cafe-review-rangoon-road.html

Vintage everywhere on Rangoon Road.Vintage must be Brunches Cafe's middle name, with every corner of this roomy hideout having a touch of vintage, including their serving plates and feature shelf. Despite the weekend afternoon's crowd having their brunch (heh heh, what else here?), there are plenty of seats available. As we were there as part of the Sugar Rush event, we probably didn't exactly had an experience of a walk-in customer as they already prepared a menu set for us to try.The service crew at Brunches is very efficient and kindly allowed us in, even though the rest of our team hasn't reached yet. So we had a bit of time to roam around to explore the cafe, and discovered this Halloween-sque shelf with lots of dolls and that the prominent vintage car near the entrance is actually part of a booth. No way, that's too cute. Undoubtedly, another big plus factor is Brunches Cafe's size which made me feel so comfortable. The most photogenic and afternoon sweet treat was the Mixed berries waffles with vanilla ice-cream (SGD13.50) that was quite delicious, but there was some technicalities that didn't meet the mark.. the waffles weren't adequately warm or crispy, and the ice-cream didn't taste the premium sort. If your priority is to take an awesome Instagram photo, this will be your best prop but when it comes to taste, I guess Brunches Cafe can afford to improve the quality of the ice-cream and increase the price accordingly.Their Juicy Beef Burger (SGD19.50) was decent, the grilled beef patty erred on the side of being slightly dry, contrary to its name, but the rest of it was alright. I would personally try something else again if I had the chance. Their BBQ Chicken Wings (SGD11) was more disappointing as it was simply too salty, I think they over-marinated it. It was impossible to eat without downing glasses of water, which the service crew did refill promptly.Brunches Cafe is a lovely place to hang out, perhaps for desserts and coffee (which I haven't tried so by all means I'm not recommending from my own experience) but their mains and sides need a bit more of a boost. For more food reviews: www.amiehu.com

We had read reviews and seen pictures of the nostalgia packed Brunches Cafe and were very much drawn to its decor. So it was with much anticipation that we dropped by one lazy Saturday late morning for brunch.Just ~ 5 minutes from Farrer Park MRT (parking is very limited), Brunches Cafe's interior is a blast from the past, with nostalgic knick knacks, movie posters, furniture, and a dissected morris mini with its bonnet holding a selection of condiments. A little reminiscent of W39 Bistro and Bakery (http://www.timelessfacade.com/2015/05/w39-bistro-bakery-plenty-of-fluff-very.html), which was plain disappointing by the way, just more elaborate.Nachos with Cheddar Cheese Sauce - The chips tasted bland and straight out of a packet whilst the cheddar cheese dip was rather stingy and watery. I hate to say this but the nachos you get at the cinemas in Singapore (GV, Cathay) taste better because the nachos have a mildly spicy kick to them and the cheese sauce is alot richer.Shrimp Aglio Olio - Less than al dente but mildly spicy spaghetti coupled with reasonably sized, crunchy but bland prawns made for a very average shrimp aglio olio. Bonus points for the fragrance though.Baked Egg with Bacon - The baked egg was cooked on the outside but runny inside with an oozing yolk and bits of transparent egg white whilst the bacon was limp and came across as soft and rather fatty - nauseating. Thankfully the side of mushrooms was earthy and the slice of white toast, crisp. Average at best. Our average brunch for 2 cost to the tune of $41.80, which isn't expensive but food quality doesn't go past average. We were so uninspired by the food that we didn't bother staying for desserts. Service was okay but I don't understand the service charge especially when we had to order and pay at the counter and help ourselves to the iced water. The only thing Brunches Cafe has going for it is its decor but I don't think that's sufficient to warrant a revisit, especially since Jewel Cafe down the road serves slightly better food in my humble opinion.See all my pictures at http://www.timelessfacade.com/2015/08/brunches-cafe-very-much-form-over-factor.html

A vintage garage thematic Brunches Cafe has finally sprung up into the cafe scene in Singapore. Located along the stretch of Rangoon Road with several other cafes sit Brunches Cafe clothed in a dark mysterious outlook but opens door to a warmly lighted cafe featuring vintage car or car boot as seats, hanging mini wooden houses as lighting and rustic wooden furniture. Effort and love from the bosses can be felt through all the details and decorations in the cafe.Decent extensive choice of food varying from brunches, mains, sides, coffee and desserts for a cafe environment.Innovative idea of using the mini cooper car’s front to contain all the condiments and menu and the car seats as dining area.Another interesting set of seating arrangement. After waiting for 20 minutes or so, finally here comes our 2 mains – Steak & Egg ($19.50) and Creamy Egg Frittata ($12.50). I find the food much disappointing. Despite ordering medium for my steak, it somehow turn out to be medium well and it’s kind of tough and chewy. Scrambled eggs on the other hand was rather creamy and runny but it kinds of lack some flavor and lustre. Sauteed mushrooms tasted just like mushroom without much intended punch from any seasonings. Egg Frittata tasted similar to that of an omelette but in a muffin shape. I find it baked to a tad to dry for my liking. But some worth mentioning points for the brunches, is that you can choose your choice of toast from wholemeal, sourdough and white and i love the sweetness and juiciness of the grilled tomato. This was a pleasant gesture from the boss of the cafe. She served us this complimentary chilled berries cheesecake as a make up for the long waiting time for our food. This cheesecake was not yet in the menu, but it tasted real good. Not too sweet, flavor was light with berries taste.Overall, the cafe has the ambiance, but much improvements are needed to their food if they want returning customers.https://poohlovesfood.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/brunches-cafe/ for the full review with pics.

With a vintage theme, Brunches Cafe is the newest addition along Rangoon Road. Stepping into this cafe will transcend one away from the hustle and bustle of city life to a realm of peace and serenity. Besides seeking shelter for some comfort food or alone time, feel free to browse through the cafe for vintage items that are for sale.Similar to ReStore (closed), Old Habits Cafe and Flee Away Cafe, you may find some old school loot during your visit! During lunch hours, set lunch (includes a bowl of soup) comes with any purchase under the "Main" segment. I ordered a Cajun Chicken Pizza (about $16) and my friend ordered Vegetarian Oglio Olio (about $14).The pizza was dense, dry and hard and the base sauce was almost tasteless. Threading on the thin line before rejecting the it, but was spared by the BBQ sauce that was drizzled over the pizza. Definitely not gonna order this again. With a nice cozy interior, consistent WiFi and nice background music, I have plans to come back again for their dessert, waffles and coffee. So wait up for my second verdict!Full review at http://lepakwithyaops.com/brunches-cafe-new-vintage-cafe-at-rangoon-road
