Causeway Bay Hong Kong Cafe (Closed)

Desire to having dim sum for tea break , so while searching we found a restaurant in Centrepoint named Causeway Bay Hong Kong Cafe. We ordered Liu sha Bao , Radish Cake, Prawn Dumplings etc. They serve a unique style of cooking liu sha bao by frying , when serve it was piping hot with the filling melt in your mouth and the bun crispy , the radish cake was served with bean sprouts and egg taste delicious , the prawn dumpling is quite big and crunchy.

This Hong Kong Café is very comfortable as is quite spacious and the environment is also cooling and nice. Have bought their pork chop to try and was not too impressed with it. Even though the portion was quite a lot, but the taste was so so only. The pork chop was tender and juicy but the marination was not really tasty. the French fries were quite soggy and quite salty. The quarter corn is also too dry and not flavourful. For the price of $12, is expensive and not worth the money.

There wasn't much people in Causeway Bay Hong Kong Cafe that day. It was nice and cosy and cooling compared to the hot weather outside. The staff was attentive and friendly. The Hongkong style version of Char Kway Teow.The hor fun is cooked with sliced pork, bean sprouts, chives and eggs. I liked the unique taste of this dish.I don't need any chilli to go along with the dish.Price around $8.50 cost about twice the amount one would pay for our Singapore version of Char Kway Teow.This dish is similar to the beef hor fun except that instead of adding beef they replaced it with pork slices.

This sour plum juice is very refreshing and goes well with any oily meal.The juice is served in an unique jar shaped glass. For $5.30 and recommended by the waitress. The drink is pretty concentrated as not too much ice was added. I like the taste its not too sour and sure helped to increase my appetite. Generally, the food from this cafe tastes quite good. However, I find that the price is slightly higher as compared to the other HK cafes such as Xin Wang,etc. The service is also not very good as the waitress seems to have very knowledge of the food the cafe is serving. I have visited this Hong Kong Cafe with a group of friends during one of the afternoon for lunch. Was glad that i have ordered this dish instead of their hot stove chicken cutlets which most of them have ordered, as they told me is not tasty at all. THe menu list is really alot in this restaurant and is really tough to choose among so many dishes. Decided to try their baked rice as the picture shown on the menu looks really tasty. Took more than twenty minutes to served my baked rice to me. The melted cheese was not added too generously and the chicken meat in the baked rice is quite dry and not tender at all. The rice can be consider the normal fragrant rice which does not give any surprises or x-factor to this dish at all.

This hot stove chicken chop has quite a nice presentation when it was served to me. Steaming hot as since the foods are served on the hot stove. However was quite unimpressed on the so so taste of the chicken chop. The chicken may be quite tender, but it was not marinated well which make it taste quite plain. The french fries was quite alright but was quite tasteless as quite little salt was added to it.

We bought the voucher from deals @ $9.90, for a set meal inclusive of a soup and drink. There are only 5 selections can be selected when using such voucher; I choose the sizzling pan chicken chop with Italian sauce, with the cream soup. My colleagues and I bought a coupon from Deal.com.sg for $9.90 for Hong Kong Style Set Meal at Causeway Bay Hong Kong Café + free Membership Card + Cash Voucher for next visit. The set came with a soup, main course and a drink. All of us ordered Chicken chop in Sizzling hot plate with mushroom sauce as our main. The presentation is good but the taste is just so so.
