The husband was suddenly craving for Chakey’s Chicken and drove all the way down to the East just to satisfy his tastebuds (we live in the West, so you could image how much he was yearning to sink his teeth into the famous salt-baked chicken).At $18.80 for a large chicken, I would say it was slightly above average pricing. Serangoon Salt-Baked Chicken has been established for quite a long time, and is always a good addition to the dinner table. My mum got one of it at $18.50, which is the bigger-sized one, there's a smaller one which costs $16 I think, but there doesn't seem to be much difference in size to me. I like the sauce which was a little salty but not overly so and it goes very well with rice; the skin of the chicken was also well seasoned, but a substantial part of breast meat is quite tasteless though.

This shop is not as eye catching as compared to the other shops that is along east coast road. You seldom will see crowds queeing for their chicken, but the existance of this shop for years proves that the food is up to standard. I am not in favour of breast meat as it is normally very dry, but the breast meat that I eaten yestersday was really tender. The sauce goes well with the meat and it is not too saltish.
