Had tried other stalls’ stingray before the last few times we ate at 85 bedok and this stall is our final choice for stingray for its taste and freshness. However the standard that day drops as the stingray is not that nicely grilled. It is a little over grilled which made it slightly dry and some of the fresh sweetness is lost.Could taste that the stingray is still fresh as usual though ^^The chili is also vital to a stingray dish and we chose this stall partly also because of the nice belachan

The chili is also vital to a stingray dish and we chose this stall partly also because of the nice belachan chili.

It may be a little too spicy but the chili is not too salty and it makes the stingray dish more appetizing

It is fragrant and the amount of chili is just nice, spread evenly on the top of the stingray.

The portion has shrinked over the years but it is still a reasonable size ;D

Have tried other stall’s where their chili is too salty or the stingray is not fresh, so I would recommend this stall out of the others at 85 bedok

Heard a lot about this BBQ place and gave it a try, wish that I had not done this, totally disappointed. Order a 10$ stingray and a 12$ prawns, the stingray was so dry and hard and the flesh was so thin, basically you could not tell its fish. The prawns were terrible , you can tell from the look its not fresh, all the heads were separated from the bodies, and the texture like tou fu. I could not swallow it.I dare not to try the remains and quickly ran away.

The Service
Service is bad as have to wait quite long around 15 to 30mins during peak hours at night.

The Ambience
The stall is located in hawker center hence is well-ventilated and not stuffy from the grilled smoke coming from the stall.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $10, $12 & 15 for different size

Overall
I will definitely come back again to try the sambal sotong and Kang Kong and highly recommended to try for all chili lovers!!

One of the yummy sambal bbq stingrays in Singapore. Flesh is fresh, tender and moist. Delicious! The sambal is also very good, spicy and fragrant. Probably just a little bit oily but nevertheless very well grilled, not over-cooked, just nice. Complement well with with a bowl of rice. Ordered a plate of Sweet and sour pork too, it was alright, nothing special, in fact it was a little tough and a bit too sweet.

No shark fin never mind, there's still Stingray! I believe most Singaporeans will agree with it. At Chan BBQ if you are lucky, the waiting time is about 15 minutes else you have to wait for a good 30 minutes or so.Their stingray is real spicy! If you can't take that spicy then better not have it. I finished the stingray with the aid of sugarcane drink. If the stingray wasn't that spicy then it would be perfect.

The waiting time for this chan BBQ is quite slow and long waiting but their food is above average. Out of all the seafood for me i think the bbq sotong is something you must try. BBQ sotong is cooked with pineapple and give you a mixture of sweet and alittle sour plus spicy taste.
