For more review, visit http://www.umakemehungry.com/2015/04/cheng-ji-lu-ya-fan-mian-zhou.htmlSpotted this duck rice stall awhile ago during the Chinese New Year Period and wanted to give it a try but the queue was way too long but that did not deter me from striking them out of my To Eat list. I went there again on a separate occassion for lunch and was considered quite lucky as there was not much queue. The arrangement and display of Cheng Ji's duck meat on their stall was somehow different from others I felt. It was neater and things are classified in bowls instead of the metallic trays filled with braised gravy.Though price of the Kway Teow was relatively cheap as compared to the market pricing. I find that the amount of braised duck given was miserable. The soup was tasty with a decent herb fragrant. What sums up the simple meal was its beansprouts, coriander leave and fried onion oil.The Duck Rice Meal did a little bit better in its portion with more duck meat, Tau Gua and half a braised egg. However each piece of meat was still quite miserable on the plate I felt with gravy drench over them. Nevertheless if you are looking for something just to fill your stomach, they are quite decent. continue reading

Spotted this duck rice stall and decided to give it a try.Although the board only stated the price for duck rice set, the uncle would ask if we want it with set or without.Set would include tou kwa, egg. while without the set would be just the rice and duck.Difference is $0.50 and I bought the set without much considerations. The taste is average. The rice is not too dry and the duck is okay. The portion is reasonable for $3.All the items tastes okay. Just that the braised flavour is not strong enough. Would have obtain a higher rating if the taste is thicker and stronger.I would give it a 6/10?(: continue reading

My dinner tonight is this bowl of dry duck noodle with a bowl of soup. I added an egg that cost $0.50. This dish still consider a pass but I find the duck meat too little. I am left with a whole chunk of noodle with nothing to mix with except the egg and soup as I have finish all the duck meat already. I guess it would be better if they added some slice of fishcake in too. The soup looks plain but is quite tasty. Service wise, nothing much to comment as it's a self service stall. continue reading

The portion for duck meat was a bit too little, and what made it worst, it did not come in slices but few pieces of the odd parts. But it tasted not too bad but definitely failed in presentation. Chilli tend to be a little too spicy and oily too, rice was rather alright. The set came with 1/2 a braised egg and braised tofu. Pretty good value though. No matter, i still prefer to have more duck meat in regular cuts than any other thus this is not my choice for duck rice. This is gonna be another one time off experience. continue reading
