My friend says she has been to this place a very long time ago, and her companions liked the chicken rice here. Hence, she brought me and another friend here. It's a rather old-school coffeeshop. We were glad that we were here rather early for lunch cos the coffeeshop was filled up pretty quickly after us, with most of them ordering the chicken rice here. Well, today we went "all out" and ordered one whole chicken. The stallowner asked if we will like a bowl of yong tau foo to go along and we agreed, as we thought that's a nice combination. The amount of chicken given was very generous and the meat was quite tender. Only gripe was that the bed of sauce beneath the chicken was too oily. Anyway, you can choose to not dip too much of that sauce then for the more health-conscious. (but then you might not be eating chicken rice in the first place? )The yong tau foo pieces were all right, and the soup base relatively tasty. At least you get some vegetables here. The rice itself was lightly fragrant and I like the grated ginger and sweet soya sauce dips provided. The chili sauce was not bad as well, it's the spicier type. For our bill, it came out to about $7 per pax, which is quite cheap since we had a lot of food. Definitely an above-average chicken rice stall. When we passed by the stall front again later, the lady asked us if we wanted to order. Then she suddenly realized we had actually finished our meal already. She then gave us a huge smile, thanked us and asked us to come again next time. What a nice lady! continue reading
