Today I want to eat the Chicken up Melon and Watermelon BingSu dessert that cost $20 and $18 each at Bugis. Upon arriving, I get to know that the Korean dessert is served only at selected outlets like Tampines, Parkway Parade etc. So I make a wasted trip to Bugis and I got to u-turn and take a train to Tampines outlet to eat.1. 1. Melon BingSu

Rating for this dish 4/5. The melon fruit itself taste refreshing, delicious and sweet. On top of it is a scoop of nice milky creamy ice-cream of extremely smooth, delicious and yummy texture. Beneath the Melon are coconut ice shaved. I would have give it a high score if not for the expensive price. Seriously how much does half a Melon and a scoop of ice-cream cost ? Also I spotted a fruit fly stuck at one of the melon cube. They should seriously brush up on their hygiene standard !

2. Watermelon BingSu

Rating for this dish 4.5/5. The watermelon fruit itself taste refreshing, delicious and sweet. On top of it is a scoop of nice milky creamy ice-cream of extremely smooth, delicious and yummy texture. Beneath the Melon are red bean paste and coconut ice shaved. Condense milk are pour onto the watermelon and ice-cream. I would have give it a high score if not for the expensive price. Seriously how much does half a Watermelon and a scoop of ice-cream cost ? This dish taste better then the first one because there is red bean and condense milk added to it that gives it a boost in the taste.

To conclude this 2 dessert are healthy and refreshing especially on a hot day. However due to the high price and the hygiene standard as I spotted a fruit fly in my dessert, you all may wish to take note of this negative points before ordering.
Other Info. : Watermelon BingSu

Chicken Up

Located at a corner of Century Square, opposite Starbucks at Tampines mall, Chicken Up has both indoor and Al fresco dining areas. Other than fried chicken, they also serve up a few Korean delicacies to add some variety to the menu.

We picked out two types of fried chicken, a noodle dish and 2 sides for sharing. Onion Bomb $12++, Kimchi Fries $18++, Jabchae $14++, Ganjang Wings $12++ and Spicy Up $18++.

The Onion bomb was much smaller in size than expected, taste alright with the unique batter dressed with Korean spices. The Kimchi fries was a disappointment, fries were not well executed, and the sauces wasn't nice at all. The Korean fried glass noodles, Jabchae, was good but too pricey for a vegetarian dish without seafood or meat. As for the fried chicken, the Spicy Up had crispy skin and tender meat but wasn't well marinated, meat was completely tasteless. The Ganjang soy sauce wings fared better though but also lacks wow factor.

To end the meal we ordered the photogenic and overpriced Melon Bingsoo $20++ for sharing. The rock melon itself was good but overall not worthy of its price tag.
