So I decided to visit CFOBs again! I had two prior good experiences and this time I made sure to come early to be able to get 3D lattes!! 30 mins before closing, the barista will not do 3D lattes! :( So come early!!I was delighted to get a strawberry shortcake while waiting for my latte to be done. The cake was presented on a plate with a chocolate syrup gingerbreadman so cute right? ^_^ we cam whored with it for a bit.. The cake itself was delicious.. It was fluffy and had sooooooo many strawberries in it, my friend commented that it was very value for money since there were so many strawberries. Today I am in area for lunch in between lesson, and decide to have lunch in this cafe. The cafe is located at the end of a HDB block. At the entrance of the cafe, there is a machine for table waiting system where one has to key in the number of people and mobile number. One will receive a message when there is a table available. As there is available table, I am quickly showed to a table by the entrance. There is in door and outdoor dine in area. Although there is air con in the indoor dine in area, one can barely feel it. At the counter, there is display of delicious looking of slice cakes. Take note that the restroom is at the back of the cafe. One has to go out of the cafe in order to reach it.Since the cafe is known for its 3D Latte Art, I decide to check with the staff which are the drinks that has it. From the staff, only drinks (Iced Cafe Latte, Iced Vanilla Latte, Iced Hazelnut Latte, Iced Mocha, Iced Caramel Macchiato, Iced Rose Latte, Iced Baileys Latte) from the Iced Coffee section have it. So I decide to have a Iced Cafe Latte with 3D Latte Art on, which I am been informed that there will be a 30 minutes waiting time.Iced Cafe Latte ($6++)The drink is served about 20 minutes later with a Doraemon character on top. So cute looking. The drink is served with a small jug of syrup to sweeten the drink. The drink itself tastes average.Roasted Pork Roulade & Eggs ($16++)Pork Roulade/ Scrambled Eggs/ Lyonnaise Potatoes/ Salad/ Roasted Tomato/ Homemade Toast/ Dijon Cream SauceThe roulade is not what I expected as it looks more like sliced ham. We went back on a separate occasion for CFOB's 3D latte art ♥More photos of the mains and previous visit here: Gotten a My Melody latte art work on the iced caramel macchiato :) The 3D latte art is done mainly on iced coffees because a colder temperature enables the frothed milk (the "foam" that makes the latte artwork) to stay put longer.Another reason is because iced coffees are usually served with straws. We reached at 9:35pm on Friday and was told they were closing at 10pm and that the could no longer make 3D latte art.. So I could only get 2D latte drinks! :( so sad! Oh well! I tried ther hot matcha latte which tasted great! Not too sweet and not too milky! But I would def have to try their oreo cheesecake slices! Tucked away in a hidden HDB block is Chock Full of Beans, filled with a steady stream of patrons coming and leaving. Tonight the Beau and I drove all the way to its location at Block 4 Changi Village Road #01-2090, Singapore 500004 having heard positive reviews about it from various sources.Done in warm, cosy earth tones and comfortable wooden tables, Chock Full of Beans exudes inviting vibes to passerbys as well as its current customers. It was not a huge cafe but its open location made for good traffic and is easy to spot.I had the Linguine Pesto with Chicken (SGD$16.00) - with chicken, pesto, garlic, cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Before I sprinkled on the usual (obscene) amount of Tabasco sauce and chilli flakes, we tasted the pasta in its original form. It was surprisingly tasty despite the deceptively simple ingredients and name. The flavor was strong and came as a punch to me especially, expecting it to be bland or average. The pasta also held up well on its springy (QQ) texture despite the sumptuous (olive oil?) gravy it was draped in.The Beau selected the Spaghetti and Beef Meatballs (SGD$17.00) - beef meatballs, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese and parsley. This was another palatable dish with a strong tomato-based flavor, bouncy pasta and meatballs that were succulent and chewy.The Beau waited close to 20 minutes (we were informed of the waiting time) for his Ice Hazelnut Latte (SGD$6.50). The cat / tiger created out of foam was indeed very adorable, making it appear almost cruel to have to slurp it up eventually. The 3-D latte art is only available for selected iced beverages by the way. The hazelnut taste was very strong, its creamy nut flavor hitting us in pangs of deliciousness. We were craving for something different on a lazy Sunday morning and made the trek far east to Changi Village for brunch at Chock Full Of Beans or CFOB for short.As the name suggests, CFOB specializes in coffee; a drink which I seldom partake in and have absolutely zero knowledge on save for the fleeting knowledge that it exists. Tucked away in a corner shophouse along Changi Village Road, the place is packed on a late Sunday morning and you can choose to wait in line for a table or leave your contact number (the preferred option).Omelette With 3 Fillings - We chose salmon, cheese and mushrooms for the fillings and the omelette came served with 2 thick slices of homemade toast and a toss of greens. Ingredients were a little sparse and the egg wasn't creamy enough but at such a price point ($12), I really can't complain.Eggs Benedict - The Eggs Benedict sported a generous serving of ham but minimally runny yolks on a slice of hard toast and topped with a rather liquid hollandaise sauce. Average.Buttermilk Waffles With Caramelized Bananas - Burnt at the bottom and a tad too stodgy, the buttermilk waffles were rather bland and came with whipped cream instead of the usual maple syrup. Topped with sweet bananas that could do with a little more grilling for extra caramelization. Average.Iced Hazelnut Latte - As mentioned earlier, I know nothing about coffee but I did like the hazelnut latte, which was pretty soothing with a hazelnut tinge. But the main draw is definitely the cute 3D art, which is never quite the same even on the same day (ie. blue ribbon vs red ribbon). And at $6.50 a pop, it was worth the money and the wait, considering the effort and skills required.Brunch set the both of us back by almost 40 bucks, which was relatively reasonable considering the quantity of food (quality was average) and of course the beautiful latte art. We decided to check out chock full of beans as they're known to serve cute latte art in their coffees. We had Ice Caramel Macchiato ($6.50) as 3D art is only available for ice beverages. Do note that 3D latte art is only available upon request. It will be random design as we were told that they were busy. We had brunch - Banger & Eggs, very simple dish with scrambled eggs, a croissant & German sausages. Overall, it tasted average and this is definitely not worth the value of $17 bucks. American english breakfast @ Chock Full Of Beans. Introduce by my peers to this cafe @ Changi Village during a chalet bonding. We had our HEARTY breakfast here. I ordered Egg's Benedicts while my friend order some sausge platter with Rosti. If you're someone who likes potato, Rosti would be a good choice for you. Egg's benedict was ok, average. My birthday brought me to Chock Full of Beans for a quiet lunch with one of my favourite food kakis. My 2nd visit to this place, I am back to try out their main dishes after having a good impression of their coffee and drinks.Our order of Mocha and Cappuccino is served with cute little cartoons drawn into it! I love how colour is incorporated into the latte art. Definitely put a smile on our face :)The truffle mushroom spaghetti wasn't too bad, with ample amount of mushrooms mixed with truffle oil and pasta. The pasta was al-dente so I was pleased with it. The overall taste is a little underwhelming as the flavours are pretty much from the truffle oil, and there wasn't anything special about the taste.VERDICTI wish I had a better review for the food but I was left a little disappointed. Hearing everyone in my clique saying that this is a "MUST GO" place. I've not been there to try their food hence decided to bring my Taiwan friends to CFOB when they're in Singapore. The cafe is pretty secluded area of changi however, it's pretty near the ferry point. To my surprise, it's totally full house when we arrived but we manage to get one tiny table for the 6 of us! Well, I prayed that it's worth the trip as we travel from one end to the other. It crossed my expectations! Food was good, coffee is wonderful, ambiance still okay but it''s way better in the night! We reached the place about 3pm and decided to have our late brunch. Quite a number of food is available, unlike some other cafes. Cubano Sandwich - $13Cubano Sandwich ordered by my Taiwan's friend to share with another. Their verdict was okay, not that bad but well, I tried a bite and it was still piping hot when I tried. A combinations of many greens and ham. :) Hot Chocolate - $5My boyfriend order hot chocolate and this was what he got! A fat santa claus, no doubt that he is fat too and this totally matches him. Not only the hot chocolate is appealing, the taste is extremely good! Caffe Mocha - $5.50You can see how happy I was! For me, I preferred hot coffee and I've a sanrio character! I was hoping I get a hello kitty instead however, this is good too! It's so pretty that I barely stirred the coffee. Damn, it's too cute! This cafe was recommend by 1 of my friend who didnt been before as she read alots of good review about this cafe, so I drop by instead...Interestingly it was still bustling with people, and we have to waited for 1/2 an hour to get seats outside the cafe...There are only about 4 tables inside, which is highly recommended as it can get quite hot outdoors...Order a Rose Latte, the sweetness of the rose syrup didn't overpower the coffee, and both flavours worked hand in hand to create a most pleasant drink...Order Green Tea matcha, tasted quite clearly processed, and I could find no traces of green tea...I & my boyfriend was surprise when our latte arrive, Oh my god!! is freaking cute!! It seems that its always full house no matter what time i visit the place. But the servers are always able to find some room for us and anyone else that came later.Ordered the macadamia creme brulee. Its a tad too sweet and latte art is unavailable for this drink. Was a little hungry and i ordered the mushroom and chicken pizza to share. Not sure if we are all hungry or the pizza taste good. Its made of thin crust and generous toppings. Friend ordered a rose latte, according to her, it is somewhat decent. And she requested for a minion latte art which, she was delighted with the outcome.
