Signature Dishes
Coffee Hive was set up by four enterprising young men who love local coffee and came together to devise a cosy place with affordable coffee and great food to the people working around the area. They are touted to have a unique blend of local coffee is specially formulated to bring out the aroma and taste of original local coffee.Coffee Hive aims to be a homely, cosy place for everyone. As such you will notice that at every Coffee Hive, they are situated in small locations with comfortable air-conditioning, kopitiam style wooden tables and chairs.1. Chicken Ipoh Hor Fun $4.80I love my kway teow and so I went with Ipoh Hor Fun. After you paid for your food, you will get a buzzer and then when the buzzer rings, walk over the food collection point to help yourself to the condiments and collect your order. The portion was pretty decent. Lots of hor fun. The hor fun was sufficiently wet and tasty. A lot of diced and fried garlic was used to achieve this taste. There were mushrooms slices and chicken shreds, a very typical Ipoh Hor Fun style of serving. The soup was slightly too peppery for my liking and I think I tasted the use of MSG in the soup too.2. Teh $1.40The teh was okay, it wasn't too diluted or too sweet. But I did notice a slight bitter aftertaste after each sip.3. Curry Chicken $5.80 (With bread/rice/noodles)Their number 1 selling according to every table around me was their curry chicken. You have a choice to order it with toasted baguette, rice or noodles. I'm not sure what kind of noodle options you get but most of the customers had this with either bread or rice. The curry was lemak and wasn't too spicy. I don't normally like spicy foods but this level of spiciness was okay with me. There were alot of chicken pieces which was tender and very easy to get the meat off the bones. Not alot of potatoes though. All in all, a simple, quick eat place to savour local delights in the comfort of air-conditioning but at a slightly higher price than nearby food courts.
