Pork Rib Noodle Prawn Mee

Commonwealth Crescent Fei Zai Eatery is located in Holland Village Food Centre. As it was my first time in the food centre, I decided to patronise the stalll with the longest queue. Hence, I found myself at Commonwealth Crescent Fei Zai Eatery. The stall seems to specialise in selling a wide range of dishes that revolve around noodles. There's prawn noodle, pig liver noodles, pork ribs & prawn noodle, fishball noodle, minced meat noodle and braised beef noodles. The prices of the items are listed in the photo above. I ordered the Pork Ribs & Prawn Noodle after noticing that two of the persons in front of me ordered that. The Pork Ribs & Prawn Noodle cost $4.50. What made it stood out was the pork ribs which was braised. Frankly, the Pork Ribs & Prawn Noodle was disappointing The soup lacked depth and did not taste like prawn soup. The taste of light and dark soya sauce overwhelmed any other flavours (if any) in the soup. It was no doubt salty. The prawns were not fresh. The only consolation was that the pork ribs were tender and separated from the bones easily. However, it was too salty too.For full review and more photos, please visit http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2013/05/commonwealth-crescent-fei-zai-eatery.html continue reading

My boyfriend & I was planning to have some hawker food for lunch & we decided on Holland Village Food Centre, we drove that but probably I would say it's a little disappointment for me. Roaming around the food centre, I really did not see any food that are really tempting. Suddenly, I craved for prawn noodles, walking over the stall, I discovered a weird smell and I felt uncomfortable. But still, I made the order. The very first thing that I would try is the soup, okay, not bad. I believed they've boiled the soup for a few hours, probably they're using pork ribs and prawn shells, I would say, it's really not bad. Moving on to the noodles, its really terrible, so hard, the noodles was not very well-cooked. The prawns are not fresh at all and I would rate this only for the good soup they boiled. It cost about $3.50. continue reading

From the signage, i could tell the signature dish is prawn noodles but somehow the braised pork rib noodles caught my eye. Also influenced by how good the Tampines stall (Teo Kee) is, i decided to give this dish a try with this stall. Also ordered a bowl of meat balls. The boss recommended that my meat ball soup be replaced with the pork ribs soup instead, promising its more flavorful and i will not regret it. Unfortunately i regretted, though not to the extend of bad tasting, my dry noodles did not impress. Noodles was a tad too dry and the pork ribs sauce was not sweet enough. The pork ribs itself is far from the standard of Teo Kee. The much anticipated soup also did not turn out as nice as it was promised. But again, i chose the non signature dish so no complaints. Will want to try the prawn noodles next time instead. continue reading

This stall has the longest queue in this food centre and so, i decided to join in. I was given a choice to order a bowl of prawn noodle at $3.00 or a bowl of prawn noodle with pork ribs for $4.00. I decided to go with the prawn noodle with pork ribs. The noodle tasted just fine but the taste of the braised pork ribs was rather flavorful. The pork ribs were well braised to a right texture and nice softness. And for the braised pork ribs alone, i would not mind having this bowl of noodle once more. The prawns tasted rather fresh though. This is not too bad a choice if you do not really know what to eat during lunch. continue reading

I went holland village for my lunch after going to MOE building earlier in the day. I settled on the noodles at this stall because I wanted something less filling and noodles would not make me as full as compared to having rice. I had to queue for around 10minutes before finally placing my order. The minced pork noodles or ba chor mee is really good. I usually order the mee pok as it has more bite to it and the noodles are just cooked, making it qq and not soggy. I love mixing the noodles with the belacan chilli. The ingredients given are also quite generous, making this a really value for money and yummy lunch. continue reading
