Another one, it was the common Dim Sum we usually will order. Great taste while it was still hot, the fillings were yummy moist. Only the basic bun dough, I can taste it was sweet and soft.
The service there was prompt and we enjoyed our tea-time.

We ordered Roasted Pork, Crystal Jade Congee, Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun, Prawn Dumplings, Siew Mai, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns and Custard Buns. Total bill was $52! The food had nothing much to rave about, except for the roasted pork, I recommend it because it's quite crispy and succulent. It also came with mustard sauce which was rather… unusual! Don't order the custard bun, if you're thinking that the custard will ooze out. The custard did not ooze out at all, it’s actually quite little and the bun was a tad too thick. Oh, plain water costs $0.30, basically everything there costs money, including the wet tissue and pickles/peanuts. Service was rather efficient, we didn't have to queue very long to get a table despite a huge crowd outside on a Saturday afternoon.

Crystal Jade offers dim sum in the afternoon so it can be convenient to visit Crystal Jade, given its many branches, if you happen to be craving for dim sum. The prices are also reasonable, costing about 3-4 dollars per tray of dim sum. The egg tarts were pretty decent, with the crispy outer layer complementing the egg filling well. The siew mais were also not too bad, with the meat quite chewy. The har gaos, BBQ pork bun and fried man tou were however average.

My friends & I were walking around Ngee Ann City and decided to have lunch here! The roast pork belly consist of a layer of fats in between the lean meat and I felt that it was quite delicious. One of the better food items out of all we ordered! This bowl of congee is also not bad. I am a huge fan of custard buns and it's my highly anticipated food item out of all but it turned out to be the most disappointing one! There is no custard oozing out of the bun. Crystal Jade is always a safe choice when you want to have some authentic chinese cuisine. I was craving for fried rice the other day, and decided to get the fried rice with crabmeat and shrimp, which costs $13.90. Decently priced for a chinese restaurant, the portion was quite big for a small eater. Wok hei taste was evident, and rice fragrant. However, I still think that Din Tai Fung's fried rice is tastier.

Food, ambiance and service was great!

Chilli Crab is one of my family's ultimate favourite local dish. It is best savoured with tasty buns but if you are not restricted to have carbo-overload, feel free to order a plate of rice and indulge.

The steamed fish is oh-so-delicious and very healthy! I was the one who ate most of this as I was pregnant during our visit so I opted for healthier choices of food.

More photos of the food we ate can be found here: http://www.sweetmemoirs.com/2013/06/crystal-jade-kitchen-ngee-ann-city.html

The dumpling's skin is very thin and smooth, really almost can melt in your mouth when I eat it. The juicy minced pork meat inside never failed to impress me as is very sweet and chewy. Thanks to the service staffs who have served to us generous amount of preserved ginger slices which is the best condiment to go along with this yummy dim sum. We did not even order any drinks and requested for plain hot water to go along with it, which also does not affect the enjoyment when tasting these Chinese dumplings. At $5.20 per tray of four pieces, this yummy dim sum is really affordable!

A bag of bread (4 slices) costs $1.80. The bread is fluffy and the baker is generous in stuffing in yam inside the bread. The yam is not too sweet and goes well with the bread slices. Each slice is not too thin and can be filling for a meal. A recommended bread for all and is perfect for breakfast.

Crystal jade offers all type of food now. From bread, to la mian, to all sorts of chinese cuisine. Their prices are slightly higher, but their food are tasty and of good quality. And you get to dine in an air conditioned restaurant as well. Their restaurant can get full during meal time, so be there early to avoid the crowd and queue.

I love wife biscuit. But the version here is not really good. The filling is alright, with the right sweetness but can't really taste the ingredients. The pastry is too flaky and too thin so that it did not survive the takeaway trip. It basically all flaked off! It costs about $1 for each one... so I am eating $1 worth of sweet sticky filling... prefer thicker pastry and an overall thicker biscuit and not so flat and fragile. Service is appalling here. Not really recommended.

There is a choice of either yam or red bean filling for this particular bread and I decided to choose the yam since it is more unique. There are four slices of thick bread within each packet, and what I don't really like is because the end slice of the bread has very little filling, while the topmost slice(as shown in the photo) has a lot of yam. The bread is quite tasty with the yam bits and the yam is not too sweet as well. I can eat it as it is without having to spread any butter on it. As the bread is really thick, it is quite filling for me to eat one slice. Overall, I found it to be quite nice. Next time, I would like to try the red bean.

It has been quite a while since I last visited a Crystal Jade joint and I had eaten at this one before (though I can't remember what I had eaten then!)

In any case, I'm surprised again to see that there is a queue number, like that of KOI bubble tea shops, before I was ushered to my table. The queue numbers ranged from single no., 100+ and 200+. 3 different numbers flashed consecutively and I'd recommend any customer to stay outside and wait patiently for your turn, instead of browsing around nearby and miss your turn (numbers can jump randomly!)

Service was prompt, where my order was taken and food was served quickly. I've ordered the Stir-Fried Beef Hor Fun, a glass of warm Soy Milk and Herbal Jelly (the latter 2 makes up a set!). I've eaten this hor fun previously, and truly, it doesn't disappoint this 2nd time round. What sets this apart from the usual Tse Char is it has lots of beansprouts in it, which probably gave the dish a mild sweetness. The beef was very tender and all parts of it is chewable, and "swallow-able"! As for the hor fun, it was very soft. For a dish like this, it doesn't deserve a single devour! It needs to be enjoyed with slow bites.

Now, do not belittle the serving of the hor fun. In fact, I regretted not sharing it with my mother, and not ordering Chinese Tea after the first mistake (therefore unable to enjoy the Soy Milk fully)! The Soy Milk which I ordered was really good too! It was thick and not too sweet. Looking around, most other people had ordered a glass or two!

I've eaten the Herbal Jelly in Crystal Jade before. But this time round, it's a fresh encounter again!
I could really taste the HERBS within, so if you are not going to pour in honey, you are in for some bitterness! In any case, it was a good finish to the already-satisfying meal!
(Yikes! Forgot to take photo of this dish!)

There will be a next visit to a Crystal Jade joint!

Total Cost:
Stir-Fried Beef Hor Fun - $12.80
Soy Milk + Herbal Jelly - $3.80
