We always look forward to Crystal Jade's Konnyaku mooncakes as they are a refreshing change from the usual traditional and snowskin varieties. I particularly love the Snow Lotus (nothing like the usual lotus paste!) flavour as it exudes a light flora fragrance that leaves a sweet lingering aftertaste. And best of all, the Snow Lotus is believed to reduce heatiness & enhance immunity!

For those who are looking for something more unique, the Roselle & Hawthorn flavour would make a good choice. The slightly sour-ish taste is both appetizing and invigorating. And with both ingredients believed to help control cholesterol and aid in digestion, this is a must have to counteract the calories laden mooncakes!

As for the other flavours – Osmanthus & Plum, Rose & Red Date and Chrysanthemum Honey – I find them quite soothing and appealing as well, albeit a little too sweet!

Overall, a nice addition to the yearly mooncake feast!

My mum likes wife's biscuit (lao po bing), and crystal jade's bakery happened to have them - which is good as I didn't have to buy one whole box. I got 2 pieces of lao po bing, can't remember how much they cost but it was around $3.60 for 3 pieces. Their lao po bing is average - the crust not as flaky and crumbly, and the melon filling was soft and smooth and not too sweet. Overall makes a good snack.

Crystal jade bakery sells egg tarts and char siew sou among other traditional Pastries! The egg tarts are passable with a custardy smooth filling that has a nice eggy flavour without being overwhelming. The letdown is the pastry though. While the texture is nice and flaky while being crumbly, it is really lacking is flavour without a nice buttery sweet flavour.

Was craving for nice coconut tart when i chanced upon them in this shop. I was apprehensive to buy it as i find their quality is not consistent. Sometimes, their tarts are really good, but sometimes, their tarts doesn't rise well, resulting in dense layers that are more chewy than flaky. Decided to give it a chance and bought one. Decided to give it a chance and bought one. My first bite assured my tastebud that this is really good stuff. The crust was flaky and melt-in-your mouth, the coconut filling inside was sweet and moist. It was also adorned with a slice of red cherry piece on top.

My appetite for it has definitely been satisfied.

I was working in the area and decided to pop by Crystal Jade to get some snacks for tea in the office after my lunch. This is the sesame glutinous pancake that I got as the staff are just placing it on the trays just as I entered the shop. Each of this glutinous pancake cost $1.10. It is really delicious as it is full of black sesame paste within the pancake, and the glutinous pancake itself is soft and rather chewy. The black sesame is not cloyingly sweet as well. There are around 4 other variants of this pancake, like green tea, red bean which I will definitely try next time.

I was going home when my mum called me to get some food back home. As there is a crystal jade outlet near at where I was and it has been sometime since I have eaten the egg tarts there, I made my way over. The sure bet at Crystal Jade My Bread would be their Chinese Dim Sum. Their bread are quite ok as well, especially the BBQ Pork Pineapple bun, but their speciality are still in Cantonese Dim Sum.Snow white fluffy steamed Char Siew Pau (BBQ bun) is yummy. The soft fluffy pau almost melt in your mouth, the standard is as good as some of the restaurant. Do take it while hot before it turn soggy. Hong kong BBQ pork pastry is another favourite of mine. Hong kong BBQ pork pastry is another favourite of mine. The pastry was filled with rich honey BBQ pork which is really satisfying. Not too sweet and you can taste small chunks of pork as well.

The shop front was kind of small, you gotta squeeze your way through the narrow elongated store to get your bread and pay for it. Payment service was prompt.

Nonetheless, i'vde decided to give it a try!
I've picked a sweet potato bun (cheapest - $1.30) and an egg-tart ($1).
Their service were quite good, they greeted me when i stepped in the shop and thanked me when i did my purchases!

Forgot to took pictures of my egg-tart. It's abit different from those "western" egg tarts cause the skin of the egg-tart is like chinese crust pastry, more flakery, crisp. The egg-yolk on the egg-tart is also quite okay! Quite reasonable!

As for the sweet potato bun, as you can see, they are not stingy with the potatoes and it's just nice, not too sweet nor blend! I've tried those bread shops near MRT stations sweet potato bun but find it abit too sweet.
I guess i will go back for repeat purchase since it's comparable with breadtalk!

crystal jade bakery is much better than the restaurant itself. the breads are normally quite nice especially the pineapple bun and cream bun. recently tried the cupcake like cake, it has quite a fluffy texture but the taste was slightly blend. but i think is still quite nice especially when you want to snack on something small and not too sweet.

I happened to pass by this outlet and went in to take a look. In the end, I ended up with a loaf of cheese bread. It caught my attention because the cheese was visible on the bread and it looked quite tempting.
