The taste is like normal cake but the color is certainly attractive. We also had lemon pound cake, the appearance for this cake is not as attractive as the rainbow cake but to our surprise, this is quite delicious if you like lemon. The lemon taste is strong and refreshing. The sugar coating on the cake makes the lemon not so sour. The combination is perfect. We also had scones, which is also very delicious we find. The crust is crispy and it is soft and fluffy inside. You can either eat it with jam, maple syrup or fresh cream. We also tried the brownies, I like the fresh crunchy nuts inside the brownies.

honey, cheese, meats etc for purchase. After passing by rows of hampers and jars of marmalades and honey etc, we found a seat in the pretty little bakery cafe filled with happy looking diners chatting away.

We went to the bar counter and ordered our foods, excitedly awaiting their arrivals. Everything looked delicious, and we wondered how the food would turn out.

While Charliez* had her English Breakfast set and Mango Lassi drink (a yogurt drink originated from India). The platter did not look very appetising, truth be known... the sausages were a little over-grilled. Nonetheless, we decided to give it a try since it was filled up with sausages, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and toast. Taste was rather bland and the sausages were a tad salty. It was just a notch tasteless, falling short of a heary breakfast (albeit being consumed at night as dinner course).

I had a Salmon and Spinach Quiche - had loved the ones at Delifrance, so was wondering if this would turn out tasty too. This was a little bland as well; I could hardly taste the salmon flavor in the mashed up piece of overly-soft cheesey pie with no crispy crust. Yes, it was too soft and lightly-flavored, but the portion was generous. My Vegetable Juice (don't ask me what is inside, I cannot recall. Celery? Green apple?) had more flavours, no kidding.

To me, bliss meant that I have something to eat when I felt like eating. I had my cozy tea session with a friend, best relaxing space in town. Blueberry cheese cake was mine, finest spread of charming jam. Not only pretty slice from appearance, the smooth milky texture was heart-melting too. It strived my appetite along with a thickly aromatic coffee. Slow pace of eating and drinking, the taste of cake was irresistible. No doubt the price was steep, but the quality was a value worthy.

Learned that they adopt the self-service concept and customers basically read from the large menu board above the counter to order. Got myself the Chicken Burrito ($22), because it has some really nice ingredients such as ancho chicken, black bean, tomato salsa, guacamole, jack and cheese in tortilla wrap. I love all the flavours and texture of the ingredients combined, but for some reasons I wasn't impressed and the overall taste felt like something I could make at home. The burrito were hard and tough to bite despite the flavours. However, I did like the chips and salad.

My friend got himself the Italian Meatball ($22), made out of Italian pork and beef with marinara sauce on bread. The hero of the dish, the meatballs, tasted tough too. We were not sure what went wrong on that day but it sure was a pretty stable weekday early evening.

Overall, I visited this place with high hopes but left with disappointments. The food weren't bad, they were just .. too average to be priced like that. If only they price things lower and rid away the self-service concept, I may consider visiting again. For now, no. However, I do fancy their fresh grocery selection with really interesting premium ingredients.

I ordered the berries & flapjacks, as it was one of their best sellers there. It comes with four pieces of pancake topped with a mixture of berries and drizzled with maple syrup and cream, the portion was definitely very generous. However, after 2 pieces, I started to feel gerlat of it. I would recommend this dish for light eater to share with their friends instead of having it on our own.

Freshly baked breads, various pastries and cakes are also offered on displays and in wooden baskets to tempt you as you are in the queue to make your order. Yes, orders, payments, salads and drinks collection are self-service while the all-day breakfast sets that require a little more cooking time, gets served to your tables. This also means that there is no 10% service charge in the bill.

The Grilled Chicken Salad was $18.50 for a full portion. Cut pieces of grilled chicken with chunks of Fuji apples, seedless grapes and walnut bits, this salad was refreshing with the Balsamic glaze dressing but otherwise quite ordinary. A very healthy and not so filling option for those who wish to have a light bite.

The Berries & Flap Jacks was simply a pretty sight that we could not bear to topple and destroy. $18 for tower of four Oat & Honey Buttermilk Pancakes with Fresh Mixed Berries and drizzled with Dean & DeLuca “Grade A” Organic Maple Syrup. Fluffy and moist flapjacks, evident of a good batter mix with alternating layers of sliced fresh strawberries and cream, it's safe to say that we polished this one off very easily and quickly.

Their Sautéed Brioche French Toast is a MUST-TRY! $22 for three one-inch thick slices of French Toasted Brioche with Salted Caramelized Bananas, Fresh Berries & Vanilla Ice Cream. This was both aesthetically pleasing, mouth-watering and simply tempting just looking at it. While the brioche was dripping with salted caramel, the insides remained fluffy and not soggy at all. The outsides were also coated with cornflakes, adding crunch and texture to this already perfect dish. The Vanilla Ice-cream was very thick and creamy and a great match for the french toasts. Very decadent, very sinful and very delicious.

Dean & DeLuca strives to be a feast for the senses and the experience of culinary excellence with only the finest produce and products sold on their counters. While the Singapore branch certainly does not have as wide or extensive a selection as the New York branches, it definitely has its charm and I believe, will continue to draw crowds for a long time.

With a relatively large number of exclusive brands and labels that can only be found here and a delectable all-day breakfast menu with various salads, sandwiches and soups available for takeaway, this is the closest you will ever get to the authentic Dean & Deluca experience without having to fly to The Big Apple.

Stepping into its stores for the very first time, I was impressed by the selection of gourmet food and ingredients. It made grocery-shopping a much more complicated affair than just going in and finding what you need. With its wide selection, you can probably spend at least 45 minutes deciding on what ingredients to buy for your bolognaise pasta dinner. Those who love cooking would definitely fall in love with this new-found gem! That said, be prepared to have deep pockets as the freshest and best ingredients definitely come at a premium.

Not knowing the hype and how popular it was, I stepped in as a perfectly objective customer and I must say I wasn't very impressed by their service crew. Expecting a cosy cafe that allows me to sip my coffee slowly, it was the exact opposite. Right when I stand up to change seat as I was missing a chair at my table of two, someone swerves in from my side and started cleaning the table (when it has just been cleaned before I sat down) and plonking the 'Reserved' sign onto it. It didn't just happen to me, but a few other tables as well and I thought that was quite a 'chop chop' experience.

A very clean and sleek interior, a bit too white for my liking though. I'd prefer cafes with orange lighting to give a cosier feel, but perhaps this is the New Yorker style.

Selection of food, somehow it doesn't really appeal to me that much. The sandwiches on the top row are exorbitantly priced! $22 for a meatball sandwich, I guess I'll make do with subway.

Expecting all day breakfast to be served, I was extremely disappointed to find that they'd ran out of it (yes, everything!) by 6.45pm. Not too sure if it's due to the recent opening hence unstable supply or the influx of customers on that day itself. Spotting my extremely disappointed look and almost wanting to leave already, the chef recommended us the Chicken and Apricot Pie which I thought was worth giving it a shot after hearing how there were cranberries and apricot inside!

Perhaps after trying some of the best bakeries in Sydney, I thought this was such a letdown! The pie crust was too thick and did not gel well with the filling. There wasn't much chicken chunks nor berries either. I'd definitely expected alot more, not just because of the price tag, but the name of Dean & Deluca which I thought was supposed to cater to the busy pace of New Yorkers who usually take and go, hence providing good on-the-go food. It would have been much better if the crust wasn't that hard and thick, and had abit more butter-y taste to it. I'd also prefer a flakier version of pie and of course a more generous serving of fillings at least. That said, I thought the combination of berries and chicken was good, with savory and sweetness well complemented. Perhaps a stronger taste of apricot would be good too, since it's called Chicken and Apricot Pie?

With high expectations especially after we've snagged the last piece, this has managed to keep us satisfied for the meal at least. Not exactly impressive, it was a humble piece of red velvet cake with awesome cream cheese frosting. With a rather generous serving of cream cheese, the smooth texture complemented well with the finely made cake. A finishing touch of chocolate flakes at the side sticking to the cream cheese would have made it perfect though!

I haven't got the chance to try their all-day breakfasts though friends' reviews have mentioned that they weren't fantastic either. Shall go back to give it a shot when they're more settled in their new place!

Perhaps it's just me, I don't really get all the hype behind Dean & Deluca. If you're looking for a gastronomic food experience, this is probably not the right place. They don't serve up fantastic food fare, and I thought they were all very much overpriced. A good place to fulfill your grocery needs if you're planning on a special cook-out session though!

We had the American Country Breakfast ($22): disappointing. The eggs were overcooked, sausage dried out, potato patty tasteless, dry and burnt, wholegrain toast dry and chewy and hard, and even the mushrooms were lacking in flavour. The only good thing about this was the bacon, which isn't saying much. Seriously, if I'm going to pay Wild Honey-esque prices for the mains here, I better be getting quality food, especially since I don't get service here

I was quite blur what to do when I was there 'cos there wasn't signs to instruct us, nor is there any staff telling us what to do. So if you are planning to head there, please note that you have to 1) get a seat first 2) go to the counter and order your food with your table number 3) pick up beverages yourself at the counter 4) take cutleries and water and condiments yourself. Basically, only food that requires preparation will be served to you.

My Brioche French Toast with caramelized bananas and berries! It's served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream too. I love this a lot! The brioche was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The sauce was yummylicious too! But it gets really sick after awhile. I had this alone and only managed to finish half of it, definitely meant for sharing!

I didn't know I had to pick up my own beverage and I only did that after I was done with my meal after being told my the staff there. I think they made a new one for me, which was nice of them.
Overall, I would say D&D is just like a high class food court. Chope your seats and get your food yourself. But the standard of the food was pretty good, so I guess it warrants a second visit. I wanna try their belgium stack next! ;)

After seeing how they prepare the orders, I didn't expect much from my mac and cheese. The pasta was hard and it was sooo dry. Not good, not good at all. At least I was able to wash it down with the iced tea I ordered.
