- The extensive dessert menu- Mango milkIt was a really hot day, hence I decided to try this dessert stall. It also seems popular as there's frequently a bit of a queue in front of the stall. They sell quite an extensive range of desserts, judging from the large panel of colourful desserts shown on their store front. It seems that they have recently increased their price, as you can tell from the new prices stuck on the menu. But still, the desserts are still ok-priced, most of them for $2.30. I have heard from friends that the mango milk here is good, so that was what I tried today. For $2.20, I get a really smooth mango milk drink. It has a pretty unique taste - there's a hint of pandan flavor in addition to the fresh mango taste in the drink. You can actually taste tiny bits of mango strands within the drink. The drink is quite milky as well, without being too sweet. Quite an enjoyable drink I'll say. At least they did not use "fake" mango essence in their drink. Well worth a try if you like mango milkshake continue reading

The wonderful hawker food feast ended with dessert from Golden Swallow Dessert. I like the dessert here because of the fresh coconut milk. Bo Bo Cha Cha is the most appropriate dessert to highlight this. The hot Bo Bo Cha Cha was a bit too sweet but the cold one was really good. Topped with the colourful "tadpoles" like jellies, every spoonful was a sweet bursting surprise. continue reading

There is a great variety of different desserts to choose from and to whet your sweet tooth but I decided on the honeydew sago dessert since it has been some time since I last had it. To me, the best honeydew sago has to have sweet honeydew and to have the right balance of milky taste from the coconut milk and honeydew flavour in the syrup. The honeydew here is quite sweet which passes my first criteria. The syrup however, it too coconutty for me such that I can't really taste the honeydew, which is quite a pity. The sago are not rubbery so I have no complains about it either. If only it is less coconutty, it would be perfect. continue reading

This hawker stall - Golden Swallow Desserts, has been there in the same location for over 30 years since my childhood days.. It has a wide range of yummy local desserts for my sweet tooth It was featured on local TV programme before and there was a longer queue after that...In hot weather, I need a melt down with when the weather is hot and the very fine ice just totally does that for me - Ice Kacang, Chendol, Almond JellyI tried a new dessert in my last visit - Red Tea Jelly with Longans, quite refreshing.Occasionally I might feel like having the hot ones, i like the cheng tng, red bean soup and green bean soup...so comforting especially when it's raining PS: It is usually closed on Sundays, though sometimes might be lucky to see it's open for a "Sweet Sunday" ;) continue reading
