was here with my friend for late lunch and we were both craving for some chinese food and hence we decided to head to ding tai feng.I have ordered cha jiang mian ($8sgd++) which was not bad. the noodles were soft and chewy and i love the sauce of the noodles! very flavorful and it isnt too salty also. the minced pork were fresh too. my only complain is the portion is quite small. The staffs are very friendly and attentive. Ambience of the restaurant was quite okay as it is quite quiet. or this may be due to the off peak meal hours.next time i will be back to try out the other dishes. continue reading

Got a gift from friend from DTF! Is their mooncake! I open up and found there is 2 flavour in the box and is really mini version. White Lotus & Taiwan Pineapple Paste - Something different to me the combination wasn't too bad but cannot taste much on the pineapple paste the white lotus over powering the pineapple paste. Not too sweet I like it!White Lotus with egg yolk - Not too sweet and is quite common to find this anywhere. The catch of this is only their mini size which will not be too full even you pop in one! continue reading

Din Tai Fung is famous for its xiao long bao and has been out favourite haunt all these while....this day, we decided to try something else. We ordered a bowl of dumpling noodle, and crispy dumpling. Service was quite fast. The crispy dumpling is very nice, very crispy even though we tried some of them quite a while after it had been served. Noodles are nice, Q Q, and dumpling inside is good. Love it. continue reading

The Place - Din Tai Fung is almost as common as 7-11 Convenience Stores lately. Five minutes walk away from 112 Katong Mall where DTF opened in December 2011, last month another DTF opened its doors at Parkway Parade's revamped ground floor extension. This DTF outlet is smaller with a semi open concept so diners can look out at shoppers walking past the corridors, and also have the passers by peering into the restaurant to see what we had ordered for our meal. Loud music from a neighboring dessert outlet also added to noisy din in this restaurant. The Service - Staff are brisk, courteous but indifferent. However we were not expecting stellar service so we are ok if our orders are correct and food served promptly. The Prices - Comparable to other lamian and jiaozi places like Paradise Dynasty, Lao Beijing and Crystal Jade Lamian XiaoLongBao.The Food - Our order of fried rice and sauteed spinach arrived promptly but the xiaolongbao required 20 minutes waiting. Spinach was cooked just right with average sized portion for $9++. Fried rice with pork chop $9.90++ also passed the taste test, with egg coating every grain to produce an appetizing hue. Xiaolongbao here ($9.50++ for 10pcs) are not the best to be found in Singapore. That honour goes to Paradise Dynasty at Ion. DTF's dumplings are not juicy enough for my liking and the relatively bigger portion of fatty pork used in the filling produced a slightly porky aftertaste in the mouth after our meal. Perhaps we should give their chicken xiaolongbao a try next time.Overall an ok meal but other DTF outlets in NEX, MBS Shoppes and 313 Somerset Mall have better service and ambience. continue reading
