Food item that many people love at here, Deep-fried Pancake looked really nice. Crispy while filling layer of meat, tasty without too greasy. The other dish was Taiwan Shrimp and Pork Oriental Dumplings, along with Spicy Chilli Oil. A flavorful mix, shrimp and pork wrapped inside were firm and succulent. We were satisfied after eating these, although the price was a bit steep but still worth it for us.

The Steamed Shrimp and Pork Shao Mai at S$9.80 was the greatest disappointment.

I assumed they used the same pork filling as their Xiao long bao. Other than the small pieces of shrimps at the top of the so called “shao mai”, there was nothing special about the ingredient in this dish. The skin texture of the shao mai was too thick, just the contrast from the Xiao Long Bao skin.

This branch is spacious, with a large seating capacity. The interior is well lit and had a modern contemporary style decor. On the right, there is a large open-concept kitchen with busy chefs working hard on their job. The dining area is divided into sections with larger tables for bigger groups of diners and areas with smaller tables catering for petit parties of 2-4pax.

The menu is well categorized with quite a huge list of their steamed meat dumplings being the main focus among the other dishes. I picked a dumpling dish as appetizer, a noodle dish and a meat dish as mains.

Shrimp siew mai (6pcs) $9.80++, this is essentially a slimmer version of the 小籠包 with a mid size prawn topping. The prawn was very fresh and crunchy, pairs well with the juicy minced pork swimming in flavorful broth beneath. The dumpling skin was excellently done, smooth and thin and doesn't fall apart when picked up with chopsticks. A superbly executed dish!

For main course, I had the Mushroom & minced pork noodle $8.80++ and a Fried pork chop $7.50++.

The noodle was handmade 手工面 with a soft and springy texture. It was covered with generous amount of braised mushrooms and minced pork with a thick gravy. The gravy has a strong mushroom aroma, is not too salty but utterly flavorful, very delish.

My all time fave Fried pork chop, was well marinated, deep fried juicy & tender porky goodness, as usual. It has been my Must Order on every visit for the longest time. Highly recommended!

Service here was of high standard as usual, waitresses were forever energetic and full of smiles. The management made sure that they can all speak in Taiwanese accent and served in the friendly Taiwanese way. The free flow of Jasmine tea $1.00++ was always topped up promptly even if it is 3/4 full. Empty dishes were cleared off speedily too. Food wise, was almost always above expectations and reasonably priced. That pretty much explains the crazy queues at the doors during meal times. This is one restaurant I will always return in a heartbeat.

Went for a quick bite at Din Tai Fung. It was around 3.30pm in the afternoon so there wasn't a long queue which you will normally see during lunch or dinner time. Golden Crispy Prawn Pancake - The sliced pancake was crispy and it was filled with minced prawn paste.Steamed xiao long bao with crab roe - The skin was thin. The " soup" within the xiao long bao was rich in crab roe flavor.

Oriental salad w/ chinese vinegar $3.50++
One of my new found fave...its a cold toss dish (凉拌菜) bursting with flavors. The vinegar dressing is mild and not sourish nor pungent. The mixture of strips of tofu, kelp, red chili, chives, tau geh and tang hoon provides a myriad of flavors in every mouthful...a fab dish!

小笼包. Everyone hear about it before. Have you tried it? I went to DTF for lunch and ordered it to try it. Not the best you can find. But definitely worth the try. The queue time is short. In fact no queue at all slightly post lunch time. The waiting time for food to be served is also quite reasonable. About 5 to 10 mins. I tried the fried rice with egg too. Definitely will return for it. Overall I will rate my experience here a 8/10.

Cucumber wrapped with Pork belly
This appetizer is also one of my frequently ordered dish. A yummy spicy and sweet dipping sauce is provided for adding flavor to the tasteless pork meat & cucumbers...the pork belly has the right proportions of lean and fatty meat...nice.

Pork ribs and pork ribs fried rice~ They're a bit oily, especially the fried rice, but otherwise, they're good! The fried rice has the wok smell and it's not burnt and hard, really good~~

The environment of this particular branch is very "heartland" though the decor looks like it's trying to be posh. There are nice seats and big tables, very comfortable. ^_^

this is a good fallback restaurant (but not if you’re dining at a typical meal hour, as it’s always full) for decent food and low prices; and while I think the crystal jade empire (and more relevantly, its equivalent la mian xiao long bao outlets) serves better food when their kitchens exert themselves, this place shows a higher degree of consistency in production.

and production, it really is – though there’s some semblance of artisanal quality in showing their chefs with their magic fingers folding eighteen pleats into dumplings, and weighing out balls of dough for their noodles – those sous-chefs work at an admirable speed far akin to the efficiency of machines.

anyway, down to bizniz
ne of their most impressive dishes (in value and taste) – is their expertly-fried rice topped with a large slab of fried pork chop. well-dispersed egg, a good mound of separately-grained rice, and that moist slice of deeply-browned loin. dumplings – those xiao long bao (aka soup dumplings) are a must, with lots of black vinegar and strips of ginger, and the vegetable ones a little more take-or-leave-it.

cheap, easy, and with so many outlets you’re bound to find one near you, this makes a good contingency meal plan. make it yours!

They arrive in a set of 4, which is good for 2 to share. Don't expect the thick chili crab paste to come pouring out. Order it with an open mind, and it'll surprise you, just as it did to me. The crab slivers are fresh and the sauce just makes this one of the most interesting xiao long baos I've ever tasted!

If you have any friends visiting from overseas, this is definitely a must-try for them, along with the original xiao long bao.
