Garlic Chicken Wings ($6): The wings were either too good or we were too hungry cause we finished it up instantly when it was served! But, okay it's not too bad. $6 for 6 pieces of wings.

Salad that was refreshing and the sauce was overly generous. Love the crispy bread crumbs!

Overall a quick dinner place without anything wow. Valuable dinner set, else maybe you can reconsider.

Feeling the lack of choices for lunch one afternoon, I decided to head over to Domani at Ngee Ann City to check out the place as I came across a few people recommending me this place previously. I thought since I am in a mood for something new, I went over with a friend to find out for myself on what's the deal about this Spanish-Italian casual dining restaurant. The entrance looks classy and welcoming. Look, there is even a welcome message at the door there to display their warm hospitality.

The interior of the restaurant has a certain charm of a Italian home and the floor tiles makes me fee like I was dining at a patio. Hanging glasses and greens coming down from the top added a light-hearted, cozy and casual touch to the entire interior.

The service staffs were very attentive and were quick to take our orders. Within a minute, our orders were sent to the kitchen but we waited quite a while for the food to be served. I guess it was due to the weekday lunch crowd taking advantage on their set lunch promotion.

I was very please when my Breaded Fish & Chips ($15) arrive. It certainly look good with the huge serving especially the nicely breaded fish fillets. Yes, 2 fish fillets! It was served with a good amount of thick cut fries at the bottom that was a tad on the saltier end, garden salad and tartar sauce.

Cutting open the fish fillet, I thought the breaded layer would be thick but to my surprise, white, moist, thick and fresh fish fillet hides under the thin and crisp crust! I though the dory fish fillet looked and tasted great and I have no complains about it. What a delicious steal I would say!

My friend had the Shrimp Aglio Olio ($16) which look rather uninteresting with the pale pink shrimps. Not only that, the spaghetti wasn't cooked al dente which made it tough and hard to chew. It was rather disappointing considering this dish cost more than the good Breaded Fish & Chips.

The Aglio Olio came with a complimentary Pumpkin Soup which had nothing special to describe about it. Just like those canned ones, pretty mediocre.

Overall, the food and service at Domani was alright. I would think twice coming back again but definitely not during the busy lunch hour when it is full house. The service would have been perfect if the kitchen can speed up the orders and perhaps a smile on the face of the service staffs.

We needed to find a place to grab a quick bite before class but since it was a Saturday evening, queues were forming outside almost every restaurant. It just so happened that we happened to spot some empty tables inside of Domani and thought we might be able to finish dinner there quickly. Unfortunately, this is definitely not the place you want to be at when you are rushing for time. Service started off a bit slower than expected when plain water was not served even asking for it three times. I can understand if the restaurant was packed but it wasn't when we were there so it was obvious that the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed.

My first dish was a Spanish tapas which I had tasted before in Barcelona and really liked but sad to say, Domani's version was a disappointment. The prawns were not as fresh as I thought and the seasoning really paled in comparison.

Fortunately, the seafood linguine was slightly better and helped Domani redeem itself. The linguine was nicely cooked but the sauce felt a tad too sourish due to the tomatoes so it affected how the seafood tasted.

In all, my conclusion is, if you are in a rush, this place is not for you since you might get frustrated by the waiting time for your food. Prices felt a bit steep compared to the level of service and quality of food I got. If you manage to visit this place at a not-so-busy time and can afford to sit around for a while, I think you might enjoy Domani better than I did.

Will definitely go back again. Price wise is average $20-30 / person, but that day the server asked if we have UOB card as UOB member enjoy 1 for 1. So for that dinner we only paid $25 in total, which is super worth it.

We went there during the period where they offer lunch set meal from 1100-1400.

I tried a new item on the menu which was green tea spaghetti with shrimp. Yes, it is green tea flavoured spaghetti. I'm a lover of green tea and decided to gave it a try.
The soup of the day was pumpkin soup. I love pumpkin soup but the pumpkin was disappointing. I couldn't taste the richness and sweetness of pumpkin.
When the dish arrived, I was quite skeptical about it. The green coloured spaghetti looked interesting and it was served with fried mushroom, beef patty and a salad which consist of ham, pineapple and cucumber on the side.

My first bite literally blew my mind away. I can really taste the green tea!!!
And it didn't taste weird at all. Like as though the dish was designed this way, nothing is wrong with it.
Even though I'm really not a fan of cream based spaghetti, this is really different. I love this dish. Not to mention that the sides were delicious as well. This set meal cost $15.90
I'm really very pleased with this dish because green tea normally points toward sweets, but this time round, I learnt that green tea fits perfectly well with savoury too. ^^

The Ambience
I like the cosy ambience and surroundings with comfy chairs with acceptable noise level

The Price
Reasonably priced at $26.90 for set meal which consists of soup/salad, pasta and main course

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

My pasta and main course.

Pasta - Pancetta Carbonara. A cream based spaghetti with salted pork belly and crunchy shimeji mushrooms. Heard good reviews about their Carbonaras but I was disappointed as the taste wasn't really that awesome. The cream was rather blend.

Main course - Hamburg Steak. Beef hamburger steak drenched in mushroom sauce. There's something undescribable about their mushroom sauce and it tastes different from the normal mushroom sauce. I wouldn't recommend this though.

My friend's pasta and main course.

Pasta - Valencia Seta. Tomato based spaghetti. Had a taste of it and it was refreshingly appetizing. It's not too sour, just the right zingy taste that I like.

Main course - Chicken M&M. Grilled chicken covered with Mozzarella cheese and Mushroom. (that's why the name M&M I suppose). It comes with an orangey sauce at the side.

Costing

The total bill was around $63 with service charge and GST inclusive. For a hearty meal like that I think it's really worth it.

Service

The service was good, waitresses were attentive to us. Spoons were replaced after the soup. Then again it was expected from a restaurant of that calibre. However, there was actually a mix up of orders - my friend's main course was plated with my pasta and vice versa. We just ask them to change it and laughed it off.

Verdict: Actually we wanted to try some of the other sides but we were too full to order anymore, so we would definitely go back for more the next time!

At $15-20, the more economical can opt for the lunch menu which comes with soup of the day, a choice of main course from 8 options and a drink.

I ordered the Pancetta Carbonara, a slight spin on the standard Carbonara served with Shimeji mushrooms and fried pork belly, which added that salty tang to the usual creamy carbonara, making it additionally savoury. Might just leave you looking hard for more water though.

Aranchinii ($5.00) is your typical cheeseball. We enjoyed this one. The melted mozzarella was thick and gooey, Stringy good fun.

The food at Domani is relatively cheap. If you do the math, you will realize that it is even cheaper than your friendly neighbourhood Pasta Mania. Those on a budget may well consider.

Even the set promotion is relatively cheap; we wanted to save even more. So I ordered a lunch set, Baked Penne Pork Chop but my friend just ordered a main course, Seppia Nero. I have the soup and he has the drink. Each of us paid $17. It is quite reasonable for lunching at town area.

Baked Penne Pork Chop, as it is named, it is served with pork chop. Penne is baked together with bacon & cheese. I have never had baked pasta but only baked rice. If it is compared to baked rice, I would say it is just average. It is not salty enough.

We were able to get seats right away, despite their limited space and it being a Friday night. I guess the reason for this is that they're quite hidden from the maddening weekend crowd (they're in the B2).

Anyway, I ordered the Seafood Gratin. My friend and I added a Margerita pizza for sharing. My gratin took a while to be served, but it was understandable. When it was put on my table, it was still sizzling hot. At least I knew that it was worth the wait. It was so creamy but the generous toppings of seafood cut through that rich taste...which could make you bored after eating too much. The mussels were very meaty, squid had that perfect crunch, and the seafoods were very tender. I enjoyed it very much.

The margherita pizza was no exception.I first noticed the thin and crunchy base. it wasn't too drenched in pizza sauce, but the tomato toppings were very generous. I can't wait to come back here again to try other dishes!

Soup of the Day: Minestrone
The soup was light and filled with little chunks of vegetables (onions, celeries, carrots, potatoes, etc) - which I appreciated. It was an easy starter dish. No special "WOW" factor.
Just a simple, light soup to warm up your empty stomach.

Crabmeat & Prawn Tomato Spaghetti (Tomato Sauce)
At the first mouthful, I pouted at Toady. "Not niceee..." I bleated. The pasta was too sourish to me (because of the tomatoes paste?). The sauce was too light and not flavourful enough too. The only redeeming factor was that there was quite a substantial quantity of shrimps & real crab meat (not crabsticks type) found in the pasta. And that offered some form of consolation - that at least, I was eating something value-for-money... even if it wasn't that fantastic...

Bacon & Mix Mushroom Linguine (Aglio Olio)
The original pasta was actually offered as fettuccine in cream sauce. However, Toady requested for it to be changed to linguine + cooked in aglio olio style.

The friendly waiter accepted the request for change readily and the dish was served just the way Toady loves it (as she claimed). It was a dish pretty well done, in my option. The bacon was crispy (as per our request too), and you could taste the oozing fragrance of garlic & olive oil + salty, crispy bacons with each mouthful. It was a satisfying meal to fill your tummy with.

Pearl of the Orient Tea
This tea was a killer! I never knew that jasmine + rose would made such an awesome combination for tea! The result was a light yet very, very fragrant tea. Hmmm... it was a great cup to end your meal with!

Service wise, we had absolutely no complaints. We took a quick look around and found the staff to be mostly friendly and ready to serve. Though they did seem to be under-staffed at times (thus it might take just more than 1 hand signal to catch their attention), yet we could really find no fault with their patience (given that Toady requested A LOT of changes to their set lunch menu) and likeable "can-do" attitude. Between the 2 of us, we gave them 4 thumbs up!!
