After some temptation, decided to give Doutor Coffee a try, which is just at the lobby of my office tower...Wanted to order pancakes, but the cashier switched the menu to another type which totally puts me off. Its for lunch Without any choice, I changed to plan B, and got the Ham & Egg sandwich. They have cakes too, if bread is not your source of energy intake in the morning Ordered Americano coffee to go along with my sandwich. Nice, and scent coffee. Isn't too bitter, in my opinon. Sandwich is not bad, while the egg is mushy, not overcooked. What's more can you ask from a sandwich? While Doutor Coffee is pretty known for its fine quality of coffee beans, almost everyone ordered a cup of coffee for takeaway for dine-in. With its only sole location in Marina Bay yet, it does attract a number of avid caffeine drinkers! For details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2013/09/doutor-coffee.html continue reading

Matcha Latte Ice tastes light and refreshing , overall a healthy drink with recommended minimal sugar. The matcha is pretty concentrated as even with ice it did not taste diluted.Iced Coffee on the other hand was kind of diluted, as I was burning the midnight oil before, it didn’t have the caffeine kick that I needed to keep awake. More water than anything else it was supposed to be.Thin fluffy egg layers with fresh sweet custard cream in between every layer, topped with sugar caramelization showed the fine detailed effort in making this beautifully assembled Mille Crepe. continue reading

Popped into this new coffee joint called Doutor Coffee for a bite and it was the Mille Crepe cake which caught my eye. And I was spot on! The Mille Crepe is a cake of many layered crepes and sandwiched in between each crepe is a layer of fresh cream! Sounds heavy? Actually it was incredibly light and not too sweet. I tried this parma ham sandwich roll (forgot the exact name) and it was tasty. A little on the pricey side but I suppose that's because of the parma ham. continue reading

I got to know of this well hidden cafe that sells delicious japanese cakes, and being a lover of japanese food, i was sold. I took away their limited (only 40 pcs a day!) mille crepe, mont blanc and pumpkin tart. The mille crepe was really good! Thin layers of soft crepe with just enough fresh cream in between, every mouth feels like you are eating soft cake dipped in milk. It is really moisture-rich and melt in your mouth! Too bad i was too excited to eat it that i didnt take a picture of it, but u can easily find them in their website or facebook page. The mont blanc was also really good and unique. i am not sure what a tradtional authentic mont blanc should be, but i have tried lots of different kind from different bakery (i love chestnuts!) and this is one of the better ones! A meringue layer forms the base, with custard and fresh cream encasing a chestnut paste ball lying on top, and chestnut puree piped like 'noodles' on top. The chestnut paste is really rich and fragrant! No wonder there was only 1 left when i went to buy around 3pm! This mont blanc combination is really special and great! If you are a lover of caramel creme brulee and pumpkin, you must not miss the pumpkin tart! A thick layer of rich, creamy caramel cream brulee with caramel glaze lies on top of a layer dense, sweet pumpkin paste. With the crumbly tart base having just a hint of sweetness and not buttery, it makes the whole dessert perfect and not overly rich (aka jelat). Here comes the good news- each heavenly slice only cost $6! This is definitely cheaper than a lot of cake shops blooming in Singapore. Below is the website link for more information.
