I have been wanting to buy the breads from Duke Bakery since the longest time and I was really excited to know that there is an outlet at Suntec City. The outlet is quite brightly lit (as compared to the Bedok and Citylink outlet) and when I was there, there are lots of varieties of bread as well as samples. I tried quite a few, and in the end decided to go for this Swiss Chocolate bread. It is a huge dome shaped bread and it is quite heavy carrying it around. I have already ate one quarter of it before remembering to take the photo. The bread has chocolate and walnut bits in it, and although there is no filling inside the bread, it is quite flavourful on its own. I can just eat it plain without having to spread anything on the bread. Even though the bread is more expensive, but given the larger portion and ingredients used, it is worth the money. continue reading

What is Fermented Pineapple? Is it when you left the cut pineapple in the fridge for days that bubbles started to form on the syrup & the fruit began to taste almost wine-like? Does the name of this bread suggests that the pineapple has been fermented (as mentioned) before baking into the bread? Nah...maybe not...My humble opinion:Ripe pineapple is sweet, low in calories & full of vitamins. Nobody would ever overeat pineapple because of the acidic nature. It enhances the monotonous flavor of any food, like cookies, tarts, cocktails & even our uniquely Singaporean dish, Rojak! What is Rojak without pineapple?!  This is the first time that I tasted bread filled with loads of pineapple & walnuts inside. The bread is fluffy but it is also firm enough to hold the many chunky pieces of fruits & nuts & prevented them from sinking to the bottom. The pineapple tasted sweet (as if candied) & juicy while the walnut adds crunch...this combination creates an interesting texture to the soft loaf. Making every bite very enticing & anticipating. It kept me wishing the next bite has both the pineapple & the walnut. Verdict: PS: Just found out that they had added red wine. No wonder the pineapple is reddish!Mmm...Nice...Very nice... continue reading
