Bought a bowl of this minced pork mee poh from this EAT. outlet in NEX. The service was quite slow and the staffs here are not really that friendly. At $4.30 per bowl, is consider quite expensive as the portion was quite little. Mee poh was chewy and the sweet sauce gravy was quite flavourful. Minced pork was quite juicy and fresh. The fried dumpling is crispy and not too oily. continue reading

I was at my usual dinner hunting place looking for food again. I happened to see a photo on display at the counter and realised that they are selling Satay beehoon. So I ordered this and a piece of ngoh hiong to go with it.Ngoh Hiong $1.60Their homemade ngoh hiong is pretty good. It has well marinated minced pork, chestnuts bits, strips of carrot and black fungus wrapped in crispy fried beancurd skin. Very nice and flavorful.Satay beehoon $4.50The beehoon comes with ample serving of taupok, cuttlefish, lean pork, cockles & kangkong. The peanut sauce was thick and flavorful albeit a tad oily. Overall, a rather yummy dish. continue reading

This local cafe chain has many outlets in different shopping centres. It offers kopitiam style beverages along with popular local hawker favorites like fishball noodles and bak cho mee (minced pork noodles). This is theirbak cho mee $4 which is full of sliced pork, minced pork, pork liver (can be omitted) and some thinly sliced braised mushrooms. Taste wise, the noodles were springy but the chilli and vinegar mixture used for tossing. The noodles is just ok, not great. continue reading

Live near Nex and tired of the expensive food in the foodcourts?Fret not, check out EAT!EAT basically sells fishball noodles at LOW prices, approx $3.50 per bowl, which is really cheaper than the food in the food courts. I often have fishball kway teow (dried) and laksa and not just me, even my family think the fishballs sold here are a lot nicer than what you have outside!Since it's so cheap, no harm trying! You will be surprised! PS: Hard to get seats though, so do try to be early! continue reading

This oulet at NEX is pretty small, hence the perpetual crowds. If you want to get a seat, it is a good idea to go at off-peak hours. No matter what time you go, the service is always very good and the stafftake your order attentively. We ordered Laksa and Fishball noodles, with an additional side dish of Crispy Fishcake. What I always like about this place is the huge spoon that comes with the chopsticks. It is easy to eat using that spoon. The portions of the Laksa and Fishball Noodles were both big. Both dishes were great to savour till the last bit. The Laksa gravy was full of flavour and the Noodles were tasty and soft. There were big slices of fishcake and whole, big fishballs, as well as lots of taupok in the Laksa as well. The additional Crispy Fishcake is actually Fishcake wrapped in Beancurd skin and then fried till crisp. It went very well with both the Laksa and Noodles. The set meal with a drink cost just $4.00 and the additional side dish was $0.70.Truly great value for money and a tasty meal! continue reading
