It was not crowded at lunch or perhaps we are lucky as the place is always crowded it seems. One of the usual food haunts when we are too lazy to think of a place to eat. I ordered the $10 lunch set. It is very worth it as it consists of a main course (rice) with side salad and mini tom yum seafood. The chicken basil is not oily at all and the fried egg is decent. Will be back to try more food.

The cafe has a nostalgic setting with loads of old school tidbits and toys on display. Coupled with colorfully painted retro wooden tables, cute little stools painted with cartoon animals. A craft corner with materials for kids to spend time while the adults eat.

For adults, there are old school toys for one to reminiscence their childhood memories. Or one could choose to make their own jewellery, a doll or build an old school toy plane. There are also a fair bit of retro furniture, snacks and soft drinks bottles on display, a photographer's delight!

The food quality was okay, nothing to shout about. My personal favorite was the mini pulled chicken burger and the crispy spring rolls. The pulled chicken was rather tasty but a little lacking in portion, and the spring rolls were very crispy and packed with moist and warm filling inside. Both the onion rings and mini winglets were overcooked causing them to taste a tad hard and dry. The pineapple fried rice was not too bad, had ample serving of chicken floss and sweet pineapple cubes.

Last but not least, the dessert was served separately after most of us has had our meals. It was Thai coconut ice cream topped with peanuts, grass jelly and nata de coco.

This was the highlight of the meal, the coconut ice cream was delightfully refreshing, creamy and blends well with the crunchy roasted peanuts and lightly sweet grass jelly and nata de coco. Some of us had 2nd servings!

My friend bought a pack of the old school balloon toy and we had serious fun playing with it!

Service here was warm and friendly, the staffs were patient with kids and didn't frown a tiny bit when they had to clean up after the little blunders that they had created. Food quality for main courses was average but desserts was very good. Ambiance here is 100 marks cos there's something here to entertain patrons of all ages! Definitely worthy of multiple visits.

My Nutella & Banana Waffle. Waffle is thin & crispy. Couldn't feel the fluffiness cos it's a little too thin. But it's still nice cos the amount of Nutella is quite thick. Not a fan of banana, so will be good if they offer it with Strawberry too

Mango Love - Combination of Fresh Mango, Mango Pudding, Mango Ice Cream & Sticky Rice. No complains from them too. I feel the desserts here are better than the mains.

We're planning for another visit sometime next month, so I'll probably fill my tummy with proper food & order only desserts from here.

Upon entering I realised that the reason for that was the crayons and drawings and colours everywhere. A few kids were laughing in delight at the far corner of the café. Strange. No kids should feel so gleeful having to be bound on a chair for an hour just to eat. They like to multi-task (eg, eat while watching TV; eat while smashing food around just for fun). Using my talents for detection, it was found that this café is a paradise for parents who want to dine in peace with their princes and princesses in sight.

The Kids Craft Corner offers a free-flow use of the café’s craft materials at an hourly charge of $5 for first 2 hours on weekdays. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. So now parents, you can dine in peace*. After surviving yet another daily affair of war that is to eat in peace, we accept belated thanks.

Green Curry Chicken ($8): My usually crummy stomach was feeling adventurous that night, so I had the Green Curry Chicken. Admittedly, while browsing through the menu, none of the dishes stood out. “Never judge a book by its movie.” They say. With that in mind, I plunged my spoon into the dish before me now and was vindicated immediately. Even though I am not good at eating spicy stuff but I love my chilli. The curry was spicy enough for me to have a fair few cups of water (which you can help yourselves to at the counter) but not so much that I can’t enjoy the dish properly. Chicken was tender and served in fair amount. Good thing! Don’t you hate it when you order a chicken dish and you are served shredded or pathetically puny few pieces of it?

At its price, the quality of food surprised me pleasantly. I thought the curry was just, just a tad too salty but it seems to sit well with The Chosen Glutton. The Chosen One has the final say then!

Smores Waffle ($7.50): What I really enjoy about this is the very generous amount of slightly roasted marshmallows. Look at the photo, yes they are roasted! Though the waffles is a little hard (I personally prefer the fluffier kind) the marshmallows go very well with the waffle and ice-cream. Sinful!

Serving Thai-Western dishes at affordable prices, EatPlayLove is a good place for both a quick, no-fuss meal and to hangout. The only danger lies in the kids having too much fun audibly.

Note #1: Prices stated are nett. Not GST and service charge.

Note #2: Kitchen closes 3pm – 6pm, except weekends & PH.

Went to the East to do some errands and passed by the nearest station to this cafe on the way back.Decided to drop by for a quick lunch and ordered the Mac and cheese as its the safest choice to eat on their western menu. But their mac and cheese is different from the ones served normally. They added lots of luncheon meat! It was a good surprise! Will definitely be back to eat this again!

The fries are okay according to one of the friends who ate so many different kind of fries whenever she travels, and she's a fries expert, commented that their fries are good. The fish is a little thin and there is no lingering taste in the mouth. Will not order again although it is not that bad. I shall try their Thai food next time!

The owner is very friendly and she came over to chat with us a little while we plead with her to let us sit at 1 corner where one of the tables are unused but it belonged to the private party area. She was reluctant at first but gave in, in the end, thumbs up for the service! We didnt expect that. And when one of the bigger tables cleared, she also allow us to move to a bigger space.

We were there for about 3 hours, luckily we told her that we are staying for dinner because the place filled up quickly when its around 6pm.

I had basil chicken rice this time and it is so good! Great because there is no hint of oil in the chicken, its dry but its moist when you chew it. Its not spicy but perhaps one can request for more chilli padi. The rice portion is very big as well, good for 2 girls to share.

The restaurant is spacious and there are lower tables and chairs to cater to the children. Thai food was a popular choice on my first visit.

The tom yum noodles is not as spicy as the clear soup tom yum. But their seafood is very fresh. Not much msg was used as i did not order any drinks even though i finished drinking the soup.

Lastly, the mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream is decent as many places serve the dish cold, but the rice is warm and the coconut ice cream is not sweet. But i would prefer to have small coconut bits in it which there is none in this dish.
