I ordered a packet of mixed vegetable rice for takeaway back to office for work. I ordered the sliced gourd, egg tofu as well as braised chicken. The sliced gourd is rather soft, I would prefer it to be harder so that there is more bite to them. That said, fortunately it is not soft until it is mashy. The egg tofu is quite normal and similar to what I have tasted at other stalls. The braised chicken is tasty with the tenderness of the chicken meat and more importantly, it is well seasoned. I paid $3 for this meal in total. continue reading

The Mixed Vegetable Rice here is above average. The long beans are a little too crunchy for my liking but I suppose there are people who prefer their vege slightly undercooked and crunchy. I like mine soft and tender but they don't serve their long beans like that, unfortunately. On the other hand, I think the cabbage is one of the best dishes of the stall as it is cooked well and is soft enough for the gravy to soak through. continue reading

Takeaway mixed vegetable rice from Hougang coffeeshop. Chose 3 dishes - one meat and 2 vegetables, it costs me about $3. The price is market standard but the serving of the dishes they gave is good. Comparing with other coffee shop that only give you a few pieces of meat and small scoops of veg. The meat is well cooked and the veg is nice and soft. My favourite is the tomato eggs. satisfying meal at a low cost continue reading

I ordered the sweet and sour pork and steamed greens with sauce ladled over the rice. I paid $2.50 for the plate of rice which consisted of 1 vegetable and 1 meat. The price was quite reasonable for the portion served. The meat was tender and fresh, the sauce was not too sweet either. The vegetables were fried just right, giving it a great taste. The coffeeshop was crowded during lunch hour, luckily we managed to find seats. The coffeeshop was not stuffy, therefore it was alright to eat there. continue reading
