For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comBeing a West Person so much, it was by chance that I notice Empire State during one of the weekends in Causeway Point Mall. Though they have been in the industry for a while, it was the first time I have ever visit them. Knowing such, Causeway Point is the outlet for Empire State Currently.Decorations and furnishings were loud with colors in its illustration which kind of reminds me of "New York New York", one of the past restaurants in Singapore.Menu covers American Cuisine from Burgers, Pasta to even Pizzas. We ordered one pasta and one from the Mains.Since it was a weekend, its not surprising to see Singaporean spending quality time dining outside with families. Place was pretty pack and with perpetual queues during dinner timing.A hefty portion of grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes in Garlic Cream sauce was addictive. Moreover, Fettuccine was presented in not just the usual yellow but also green pasta. The savoury cream-riched pasta was good and stomach filling.Served with fries and Mesclun salad, though chicken was herb roasted, the taste did not quite reveal the processes. Nevertheless, the outer skin of this Maple Glazed Chicken was perfectly done with the roast flavours, giving a light crisp. The half chicken was succulent but if tastes were a bit stronger, it would be wonderful. Luckily, the brown sauce was placed into good use and complimented the white meat perfectly.Hits & misses. Overall, food is generally average. For those who want to skip the sweet beverages and opting for plain water instead, do note that it is chargable at $0.30 per cup. continue reading

Located at the second level of the shopping centre, there is this western restaurant which opens fairly early at 10.30am, one of the rare restaurants which opens at this timing. What attracts the family to this restaurant is that there is a playground next to the restaurant. At this unearthly hour, the adults can easily enjoy their food, while keeping an eye on the little ones in the playground. As for us, little JJ has quite a fun time in the playground before the food arrives. The dining area is quite big too. We take a table by the comfy benches. The servings of the food is quite big and served quite fast. As you have Entertainer mobile application, there is 1-for-1 main promotion.Empire State BBQ Pork Ribs ($17.90)Tender pork ribs rubbed with its signature spice seasoning and flavoured with its homemade BBQ sauce. Served with fries and mesclun salad. The rib is very tender and tear easily from the bones. Juicy and strongly flavourful.Grilled Salmon With Thermidor Sauce ($17.90)Salmon grilled the way you like with a thermidor sauce and served with mashed potato and buttered vegetables. The mashed potato is quite flavourful. The salmon is quite chunky although I feel that it is a bit overcooked.Spaghetti Aglio Olio ($12.90)Spaghetti with large portions of bacon slices, mushrooms, freshly chopped garlic, olive and chili flakes. This dish is offered at $8.50 nett as a Student & Senior Citizen Specials. The pasta is well flavoured and tastes quite good with a slightly spicy taste.Topup $1 for a cup of cappuccino  which is nicely served in a clear cup. Overall the food is great. Service is great too with friendly staffs although a bit blur about the promotions the restaurant is having. I am surprised that the restaurant is not crowded although next door is packed. continue reading

It was Mother's Day and I decided to treat my mum to a meal at this restaurant after having a good rest for the whole day. This is my first time at Empire State, very good experience after having 3 Course Meal at S$29.99/set because that does not include Service Charge and 7% G.S.T.The food is great, but not for hygiene because the floor is very dirty and slippery and their front entrance. In addition, the waiter just used a cloth to wipe the tea spoons in front of diners after serving desserts without any tea spoon being served.Although their price is of the usual market price, their service is bad because the waiter have to collect payments at 9.28 p.m. before desserts being served. Therefore, not worth it to have dinner in this restaurant and I felt sorry for not able to have a good gift to my mother. continue reading

Came back here again twice in a month! This visit was not long after my wisdom tooth extraction and I couldn't take in anything very solid. Their wide variety of delicious looking dishes on the menu do leave customers spoilt for choice. Ordered their Seafood Chowder ($6.90), which was disappointing for its price because I didn't get any seafood bits at all. However, it was rich in consistency and had the right seafood flavour without being fishy. My buddy got his Chicken Fettuccine ($14.90) which was amazing! The chicken were mixed in generously with rich cream sauce seasoned nicely. A true delighting dish, wished that the soup would have the same impact as this. Overall, I guess I would still return to try out other items from their extensive menu. continue reading

Empire State used to have an outlet at Iluma (before it changed its name to Bugis+), and I remembered that I had tried the best buffalo wings I've ever had in my life there. I never got to have better buffalo wings after that, not even at other Empire State outlets now. So ever since then, I've been hoping that the same chef would cook whenever I visit, but probably not since that's like a few years ago. So my buddy and I love to order 2 different dishes to share, we hardly have our main dish to ourselves. The Empire State BBQ Ribs were excellent for sharing considering its huge portion, the ribs were tender and succulent whereby it was simply effortless to separate the meat from the bone! The seasoned BBQ sauce was also very yummy and enough to dip the fries with it. The meslun salad was also refreshing. The Grilled Salmon was amazing as well, paired with meslun salad and mashed potato. The sauce that came with it was awesome, too bad I'm not sure what is it. The salmon was perfectly grilled such that it's neither under nor overcooked, keeping its moist and firmness well, it was also fresh without any fish taste. Overall, I see myself returning soon for the other delicious looking items on its menu. continue reading
